So, basically this is a question for us who are visually impaired. For a while a certain Windows 7 'my idea' commercial has bothered me.

It wasn't until just recently that I realized this guy was wearing his glasses in the shower. Is this a normal thing that I was unaware of? It seems kind of unsanitary and like it might be harmful to the glasses. I mean, I usually drag myself out of bed and into the shower before even reaching for them. I don't sleep with them on, so why put them on before cleaning myself up for the day?

Hell, thinking about it, most people I know who need to wear glasses don't even wear them 90% of the time so why would they wear them in the shower? Really, I'm just baffled by this and am wondering if anyone else does it, and what reason they could have to do it.

It would be retarded, because then you get water on your glasses and have to clean them every time you shower.

I can't see the commercial on my computer, but I can tell you that I don't wear glasses in the shower. Nothing is far enough away to require them and the water obscures your vision anyway. The few times I tried it I found it to be a horrible inconvenience.

LOL, I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be normal. I can't even wear my glasses in the bathroom after a shower, let along during my shower. They end up getting all fogged up the second I put them on. I can see better without them at that rate. When I first got contacts one of my greatest joys was actually being able to see while I showered.

There was this one time where I just waltzed under the water and forgot to take them off. It was horrible actually. For the weirdest second I thought my eyes were filling with water or something. xD

Yeah I've had an early morning like that it was fucking shit and scared the crap outa me when the water started hitting them.

I do the same. Sadly, the effects of water on my glases has caused them to rust a bit =/ But now they look kinda cool ... Like some old pair of WW2 glasses or something...

I don't think I have, because I take my shower directly after I wake up. So I don't even put on my glasses beforehand. Plus, I only wear my glasses for watching movies and seeing the boards in class at school.

Nevermind water on the glasses. They become fogged up before the water even hits them lol. No one wears them in the shower.

My vision is shitty, but not that shitty.

Plus I'd probably knock them off by accident when washing my face.

i wear glasses at all times so sometimes i forget that i have them on and walk into the shower with them.

i usually notice i have them on before they get wet though because i notice how clear the water is when its usually a blur. im like, "wtf! oh, i have my glasses on."

I've tried it before and it didn't work. (It's hard to shave when your legs are a blur). Fogged up immediately and I could see less than I could without the glasses. Wearing contacts while showering is crazy, though. Seeing my shower in focus is weiiiiiird.

I used to forget, but not anymore.

The reason we take it off is simply because most people, in the first place, wear glasses due to being shortsighted. Unless your eyesight is so bad you can't see anything beyond like a 30cm radius, then wearing glasses in the shower would obscure your vision even more with the constant dripping of water. Which, really, totally just ruins the purpose of wearing glasses in the first place.

Bad idea, I always take mine off when I shower because first of all nothing's ever far enough away to need them in my bathroom and secondly because they steam up and you end up being able to see even less than you would without them on in the first place. It's like being in a massive rainstorm in the cold then walking into a warm room.

Heh.. Actually being able to see the steam in the bathroom with contacts in is what amazes me. Without them, the steam just makes my vision more blurry than it already is :P

I've never even accidently worn my glasses in the shower, so I wouldn't know a thing (though I can imagine it to be pretty uncomfortable when washing your face).

Weird. I would never do that. Why the hell would someone put on his glasses during shower time. >_>

I always take them off. The only thing I occasionally keep when taking a shower is my gold chain.

Showering with glasses is a horrendous idea; I had to do it once or twice when I needed to take a quick 5 minute shower with all my clothes on, but with a powerful stream of water, it can actually damage the lens.

Actually fogging hasn't been that much of a problem for me, it goes away after the temperatures equalize, or when you get water on them.

I prefer glasses off, unless maybe they are some how water proof to avoid streaks. Kinda like those water proof radios! XD

It's cause the man is a GENIUS guys, he has to keep his glasses 24/7 or else he'll turn into a gremlin in no time and lose all cognitive capabilities.

On a serious not tho, it's a bad idea. Don't try this at home kids.

Usually when I get up in the morning I'll put my glasses on and head into the bathroom to shave. Once I'm done with that though they stay off until I'm out of the shower, after which they immediately return to their resting place upon my head and generally stay there until right before I go to bed.

Showering with glasses on would be really strange. I've never done it. Then again, I think swimming with glasses is weird too. To each their own I suppose.

I'm talking about glasses in the second part. I don't wear my contacts often because I'm a big baby and they bother my eyes. It's sad really. Even the lure of a crystal clear bathing experience won't make me wear them.
