| Sao is the first and obvious one that comes to mind. The community treats it like it's the worst thing in existence. It is bad yes, but alicization was enjoyable. I also feel that mecha shows in general are kinda hated for some reason |

| SAO is the one anime that immediately comes to mind. Sure, there are some things that it does badly, but it's no where close to being as bad as people claim it to be. People claim it to be the worst thing the medium has created. Even the immense hatred towards Kirito is kind of stupid, as I don't find him to be as much of a self-insert or blank slate like others do. Another one I can think of is Fire Force. People see the fan service and immediately drop it or force their entire opinion to be about the fan service, which is rather disingenuous as the anime eventually explains it and puts it to use I believe. Other things that come to mind are slice of life anime or anything with fan service. |

| Gonna take a different route, because this show is not necessarily hated on by the whole community, it is still overhated, and that's MHA. I feel like people expect this show to be something profound or unique, when in actuality it's just some light-fun that's easily digestible. Is it great? No, but it's not entirely bad (except season 5, that was awful). Otherwise, Black Clover is always my pick for most over-hated. It juggles a large cast of characters more effectively than most shounen, and its story is also paced well, having everything connect with each other. Most shounen arcs feel too separated and distant, even if it's there for the linear goal (looking at hxh or naruto here), but Black Clover has a realised plot, with arcs flowing into each other, and still being relevant even past their events. |
| almost every popular shounen is somehow both extremely overhated and overpraised at the same time. putting those aside though, some shows that come to mind are: Jojo part 6, The last third of death note (it's not as good, but it definitely isn't bad either), and most of all The Day I Became a God. this last one genuinely bothers me, it has the exact same strength and weaknesses of angel beats, yet some assholes thought it was such a shit show that they harassed the author into swearing to never write again. not that it being shit would justify that, but the show is genuinely not any worse than the other anime he has made. angel beats was also very messy in multiple places, and from what I have heard charlote is no better. it's cruel to cheer someone on despite their flawed work, and then bash then and hate them for making those exact same mistakes. what bothers me about this, is that a large portion of the hate came from the author calling it "the saddest story she has ever written". which most, disagreed with. but the reality was, she had said that because the topic was something that she herself felt very connected to. so imagine writing about a topic that you yourself find difficult, and then people bully you into quitting writing for it. The Day I Became a God could have been the worst piece of shit story ever made, which it isn't even that bad. I would give it a 6/10. but even if it was that bad, I would still call it over hated. just because no amount of shitness should justify what people did here. |

| Fate/Extra Last Encore - Okay so the show might be a little unorthodox, but I think the idea it is incomprehensible is overblown. Lunar Legend Tsukihime - I understand it strays from the Visual Novel, it not as detailed and misses out some stuff, but I feel the art and animation was pretty good. Magi Record - I get it strays from the tone and theme of the original series, but I still think it was a good show and was unfairly compared to the original. Psycho Pass 2 - Same as above. Wolfs Rain - There's a lot of misconceptions about this series, and most reviews are pretty harsh on it despite it being actual a intresting show. |

| Both of my answers have been said before, but Sword Art Online is one that stands out to me. It's a bad anime, but that's as far as it goes in my opinion, I don't think it's the black sheep of anime, just simply not good. Its impact on the medium though, that's a different conversation. Second one is the third of Death Note, which I also used to dislike a lot when I was younger, but as I got older and rewatched the series a few times I realized that it does make pretty good sense. I still think it pales in comparison to the two first cours, but it does not ruin the show. |

| I think my hero academia is overhated but I think that's mainly due to the fanbase. It's a solid battle shonen anime. Wonder egg priority also comes to mind. It's a great show if you can forget about episode 13... |

| Demon Slayer, I think when we dislike something or don't understand it we never look at the good aspects of a series or consider them or at the very least we downplay them. Maybe to you it's only about the animation or maybe it's shallow but other people might not see it that way. |

| I have a soft spot for MHA tbh, Yeah the series does become worse as time goes on but people tend to forgot the impact that it had on the community back when season 1-3 aired it brought a lot of new anime fans to the community, and the concept at the beginning was executed pretty well...kind of sad to see it become irrelevant after a while there is barely any discussion online on the final arc right now unlike JJK. |
