Like Domestic Girlfriend would have been a very short manga if Hina worked literally anything else, because I don't remember a single instance of mentioning age gap. If they are full grown adults, it might not even be mentioned. The biggest age gap I've seen was in After the Rain with like 27 of difference, that's a bit obviously too extreme. 10 years seems to be a rather common pick, it's something you absolutely need to mention, but also has a good chance of the ship sailing. |
I'd prefer if there were no age difference at all in romance anime, but if there had to be an age difference then 1 month minimum and 3 years maximum. |

| It depends on what ages either are starting at to begin with, but I will say that as someone who - to the extent I interact with the romance genre or other genre series which have a romance subplot of even minor elements - always prefers some form of transgressive romance which includes age gap, I mainly seek out a 10 - 15 year difference, with the girl ideally being around 14 - 16 years-old and the male older somewhere in the 20s or 30s. If they are an incestuous pairing it can be even more and that is fine by me. |

| If the character is under 18-19 then 2-3 years at most. If they are an adult, any is fine. It does get a bit awkward once one person starts being old enough to be the other person’s parent. That’s too much, imo. |
