| I don't really want to dismiss a show by its character designs, though it's a part that matters as well. Not every big-boobies-jiggle will be the same trash. Hand Shakers was less enjoyable than Occultic;Nine. Maid Dragon tops both. And if you recontextualize anime from roughly the 60s with Astro Boy to now, character designs have had different trends and focuses. For example, some realism in anatomy, some idealism in romcoms... Disproportion for chibi, all that. Because anime is such a melting pot of inspirations, it is a great artform to watch over the years. So to refocus on big titties... So long as the focus is on eroticism or pornographic aesthetics, perhaps this character design choice is pertinent. It's all a matter of aims and needs and means. |

So I've been banned from MAL-Badges, after spending nearly two years of my time and dedication to helping out, being the club's spokesperson, and planning for the revamp, it all goes down the fucking drain. | Nothing to do with "realism" for me. I rarely expect realism from a fictional medium, at least in terms of sticking to our sense of realism. For me it's a body proportions thing. The best example I can give is when someone takes a character who looks better with a smaller chest and then slaps tig ol bitties on them. I've seen nude mods of the Dead or Alive series where they do that with Marie Rose, and it looks fucking terrible unless they make her frame closer to the other characters. |
