This ep really only went for 3 minutes. Damn!!

Beautiful episode. I wasn't a big fan of the whole "take 100 punches" thing but wow this really proved me wrong. Excellently done. Awesome production and emotion I loved it.

"I have no enemies" my goat

The reunion with Canute was super interesting too. Canute is deffs a lot more ruthless now. And Einar was spitting some facts.

Keen to watch more, although this season is almost over :(

The place where there is no pain, suffering, or death, God created it, and it is called heaven. And suffering and pain is what makes the earth different and special.
Freedom of choice and heaven cannot meet in one place, and what is the point of building a complete paradise on earth if you will only live for a few decades and then move after your death to another paradise?!

I cried, I clapped, it's perfect

"I can't hit someone when I'm trying to negotiate for peace. I just met all of you today. We dont know anything about eachother. We have no reason to hate each other. So why do we have to hit eachother? It's stupid. It's just Canute and Ketil who are feuding with each other. The two leaders could settle this over a game of hnefatafl. There's no need to gather all these men and shed all this blood. We just met today. You are not my enemies."
I HAVE NO ENEMIES.

Canute is not a hypocrite. According to him everything that happens in the earth is according to God's will and he can't go against God's will in order to create paradise. He knows he can't save everyone so he ready to sacrifice few in order to create paradise for many.

Both Thorfinn and Canute have same goal but their method of approaching it is different.

Thors would be very proud of Thorfinn. His son has finally became a man of valor.
Thorfinn being able to hand 100 punches from Drott was an admirable yet wreckless endeavor.
A true warrior to the very end! All hail Thorfinn, son of Thors!

The speech with King Canute and Thorfinn was the most anticipated part of the manga. And I'm glad that Mappa delivered this scene well.
I love how well executed their dialogue was. You can just feel the tension. Canute saving the vikings and going against the logic of God. "Humankind cannot find happiness under God's rule." This quote was so powerful that it conveyed Canute's conviction.
Einar's hate for the viking was fueled by having his village and family killed by them. Seeing him frustrated and in rage made this scene much more impactful.
Thorfinn being the pacifist that he is will find a way to resolve his negotiation with Canute in the next episode.

Respect to Drott for actually admiring Thorfinn after he lost! I really liked the conversation between Thorfinn and Canute, I hope it's not completely finished after this episode.

Einar's quote about making your own farm is both sad and very inspiring. It's hard to make people realize what they're trampling over.

One of the best episodes of this season of Vinland Saga. Thorffin's determination is as unshakable and powerful as a mountain and a hurricane together. The fight for peace, even in the worst conditions, is the rule that can lead us to true balance and to a real paradise for all men, it is definitive.

Wow, props to Yamada Yutaka on this episode, he was absolutely popping off with the soundtrack for this one. This episode felt surreal to watch, with the ost, the gorgeous backgrounds, the ominous lighting on Canute, and the stellar voice acting across the board, phenomenal all around. They really managed to enhance this scene so much from its original counterpart in the manga. Hats off to all of the amazing staff working on this fantastic show!

A powerful episode. We see 4 years of development of Thorfinn and Canute’s convictions. It was nice to see Wulf and the other soldiers acknowledging Thorfinn as the true warrior he is (not that it matters to him tho lol)

it finally happened ladies and gentlemen; i have no enemies.
music was pretty good during that scene and the animation was pretty solid as well. safe to say this scene lived up to the hype.

canute and thorfinn finally meet. i say this all the time canute is on screen and i'll say it again; canute looks cool bruh. i feel bad for finding thorfinn's bashed-up face funny tho, still he's a real one for taking it. canute's talk about powerlessness was interesting even tho it started out sounding like he was delusional, when he brought up the waves. had me in the first half ngl. einar raises a good point still.

I thought hnefatafl referred to that ball game that Canute played when he was younger. Apparently, it's Viking chess. I have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to this time period. I didn't know where Vinland was, or who King Canute was. I only knew about Leif Erikson from SpongeBob goddamn it. "I wish they'd teach us more about Vikings."

Anyway, great episode. Who knew getting the shit beat out of ya could be so damn epic!

I'm not a fan of Vinland Saga but I do praise the good episodes and this episode was... okay-ish and meh at the same time I guess... at least the part where they meet Canute was interesting, the receiving 100 punches part was crap, and silly of course, the "I have no enemies" part that everyone is praising was cringe, straight from a fairy tail story, and what the fuck is Thorfinn waiting for? he should make a religion already and being the pope that he is, he should spend the rest of his screen time converting people to his religion and telling everyone why "war is bad" and blah blah, you guys will sure as hell be entertained by it too, and call it a masterpiece.

Meh, the season isn't bad but I expected better, I was going to end this season with an 8/10 but fuck it, I will end it with a 7/10 instead and if I cringe in the remaining episodes for whatever reason, I will make sure to end it with a 6/10.

2 more episodes to go, don't disappoint me.

For a show which is praised for being "mature" and "realistic", mc owning 100 punches to the face by a bigger dude sounds so realistic. I wonder why many shonen anime doesn't follow these same trend.

Decent ep, the aniamtion was top tier with beautiful lighting and texture, reminiscent of wit studio.

What an incredible episode. I can't imagine how it could have been done any better. Bravo MAPPA.

Wulf has a keen eye when he could immediately see Thorfinn softening the impact of Drott's punches with certain movements. Still, there remains that huge physical difference between the two, which became even more apparent when Thorfinn took the first real hit.
Snake's as well as Olmar's reaction to Thorfinn's selfless behavior doesn't surprise me at all. In their eyes, after what had happened on the farm, there was no logical reason for him to risk his life. That's why the farm admits defeat, since talking can't resolve this kind of conflict, right? As Thorfinn pointed out towards Snake, no particular attempt was made to seek dialogue to resolve this conflict. Instead of considering the possibilities, Ketil merely responded with blind violence.

This is where Thorfinn's tremendous character development comes into play.

"Why are you just standing there, middle part?"

"Your fists hurt less than being begged by a bug!"

"Sixty-eight more. Get it over with."

"I'm a busy man."

"People are waiting for me."

That speech coupled with Thorfinn's incredible determination in his eyes as well as the phenomenal OST playing in the background gave me goosebumps. This was only confirmed once again by the Vikings shocked reaction.

Without any violence on his part, Thorfinn not only managed to endure the 100 punches, but also to bring a man like Drott down to his knees. Furthermore, Drott not only apologized to Thorfinn and accepted him as a true warrior, but also requested an audience with the king. Thorfinn has now achieved something that Thors never was able to do.

Wulf asking Thorfinn why he didn't fight back, defeating Drott and thus confirming his identity as the king's former guard, sounded rather controversial, as you could also see from Thorfinn's reaction. However, peace always comes at a high price, and Thorfinn knows it only too well. I myself will also never understand why blood has to be shed in fights or wars, even though, as in this case, only 2 people are in dispute with each other in the form of Canute and Ketil.

"We just met today"

"You are not my enemies"

And looking back at his father, he now spoke the most important words:

"I don't have any enemies"

This entire first half of the episode and especially this scene represents such a defining moment in Thorfinn's life and the long road he has had to travel to become who he is today.

The moment we had all been waiting for had come. The reunion between Thorfinn and Canute after 4 long years. As expected, Canute refused the retreat at Thorfinn's request.
While in season 1 we've already seen a tremendous change in Canute's character, the way he plans to create paradise on earth is questionable. It doesn't matter at all whether his motives are a rebellion against God, because he despises him so much, or something else. The way in which he chooses to conduct this endeavor is far more crucial. As we all know, no human being is perfect and of course he is right in saying that humans commit sins.
However, like Thorfinn, it never occurred to me that, of all humans, Canute would want to save the Vikings.
So many people suffered, were enslaved, lost their families, their homes or even their own lives, all at the hands of the Vikings, but none of these aspects seems to concern Canute. As Einar mentioned, Canute doesn't seem interested in people in whom he sees no use. They merely represent small sacrifices in order to reach his end goal.

With Canute appearing to be reluctant to take over Ketil's farm, Thorfinn is faced with a difficult decision. I wonder if he'll be able to stop him.

This will be a long week. Can't wait for the next episode.

Haven't completed berserk but vagabond and vinland saga can definitely help anyone who is willing to change.
Musashi is too far for me to reach but I relate a lot with matahachi , his latest resolve before the hiatus gave me a lot of motivation to change slowly at my pace instead of setting unrealistic goals .
You know the funny thing is that in terms of character development, Vagabond's farming arc and Vinland Saga's farming arc are so similar. Of course there are a few differences in terms of storytelling, but the emotions you feel, the growth you get and the tranquility you feel after experiencing both arcs are nearly identical. Both are just fantastic.

Berserk on the other hand is definitely more on the brutal side. But that's still whole another peak of peaks. Truly peak Seinen manga, you should definitely read it if you can handle the gore.

Heard about the gore and was spoiled about casca ๐Ÿ’€.
One thing I respect about the seinen big 3 are the artists:Inoue,Miura and Yukimura.
The feeling of the characters such as guilt, regret, joy, rage etc are expressed subtly .

Damn great episode. I always liked MAPPA for the way they use the music. Here it helped again to create a good atmosphere. Never expected that watching a guy being beat up ... would be so entertaining to watch. Even though it took about half of the episode ... the time went by fast. And the music and the other chars made that part better than expected. (Which of course also is part of the work of the mangaka that made the source.)

The dialogue with Canute was great as well.
