Enjoy your youth, and watch as much as you can.
I started using MAL around 2010-2011, forgot the exact year, and haven't registered any account.

Thank you! I am still not losing it and striving to change. I am liking it so far because of the comfort working at home. Wow, that must be a cool job. I might need to explore and upskill.
Back in the day that you can leave a comment on people here on MAL, they eventually removed that option. I can see hate comments on him, but yeah that is completely normal since we all have different taste. The last anime that I've watched/completed is Mushoku Tensei S2 Part 2. Are you actively watching still?
That is good to know you somehow managed to satisfy that itch, which anime is it? Yes, the other work that I have watched is Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara. It is a so-so for me, I can't explain it. But I've watched it with someone and she also agreed that it is around 5-6. Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! -- this one I put it on hold for the mean time. I am planning to watch Devilman: Crybaby. What was the latest that you completed?
That era of animation and cell shading is just beautiful to look at. I especially love watching the light and environmental detail in those older shows or OVAs. -- I couldn't agree more. You will instantly appreciate the efforts of the animators before. The hours of work, budget and the love to create their art. Thanks for the insights, I will let you know if I have completed any of these in the future and will share my opinion to them. I am glad you're getting better, what was the reason of the mild concussion? Take your time and don't force yourself yet. Make sure you're 100% recovered before you binge watch.
Good to know that you've recovered faster. I hope so too, I really want to escape this phase. Thank you!
Not losing sight of yourself at this moment is important. I know I'm a stranger but what you're feeling is completely valid and a normal response to your situation. Leaving that job seems like the better decision since that's a crazy-ass time for traveling to a job. How are you liking freelancing tho? I work as a freelance filmmaker as a gaffer/lighting technician and a cinematographer. It's not as consistent with work these days but it's been good.
There are people who hate on him? For what reason, his backgrounds being photos or something? Can't imagine hating on his work since his writing is powerful. I haven't explored a whole lot either and this year been trying to change that. And yeahh, when you're ready to start reading it's there. What was the last anime you watched?
Yeah, there are a lot of traditionalists on this site I'm assuming that don't think it's proper I guess or janky. I watched this other short horror anime that was all rotoscope and that satisfied that itch. Have you watched Yuasa's other work?
That era of animation and cell shading is just beautiful to look at. I especially love watching the light and environmental detail in those older shows or OVAs. Mononoke is pretty short at 12 episodes and the stories are mainly vignettes. Texhnolyze requires a lot of patience and attention sort of like Ergo Proxy, although I think it's a lot more realized and well written overall.
I'll for sure start Monster before the month ends. Like I mentioned, I had a medical issue with a mild concussion and I couldn't watch tv or movies let alone listen to music. Now that I finally am feeling normal I'm just gonna binge it. haha
And yeah, I know what you mean. Shows that are kind of like background shows that you can dip in and out of and know what's going on still.
Thanks, it took about 2 weeks to recover to where I am now but it was worth being patient. I do hope you get out of your funk soon, and it sounds like you're making a good decision to make more time for yourself and reassess work.
Sloths are methodical and pace to their own accord and leisure; they're good teachers in patience.
Online games are good catharsis, too. How are you doing since we last spoke? Apologies for the delay, I've been dealing with some medical stuff and now can actually be at a computer screen. What do you do for work?
Yeah same here. A lot of people keep mentioning how depressing his work is, especially warning me before starting Oyasumi Punpun, but I feel a lot of comfort from his work. He understands depression and societal pressure very well. Japanese cinema especially from this era really used film as a catharsis for depression.
I really want to watch something else with Aku no Hana's style of rotoscope anime. It's incredibly refreshing and looks so cool. Tatami Galaxy resonated a lot while in college years ago, and looking back hits harder somehow. When we're young we don't realize what we squander and that's a part of the lessons we have and carry, and that's fine. There are hella opportunities I could've taken up but that wasn't the path I forged.
I like experimental and art-house even though that sounds pretentious to say. Something that tries a bit different either in its story, art direction, or animation style. Tatami Galaxy, Serial Experiments, Mononoke, and Texhnolyze kinda scratch that itch and I've tried finding stuff like it. Girls' Last Tour and Madoka Magika are huge exceptions because of their purposeful use of those styles to their core themes or genre. I'm open minded as long as it isn't just played straight. I plan on reading Monster this month when I have time finally, been putting it off way too long. How about you, what would you say?
Take your time with that, there's no rush. I hope you're feeling a little better since this message. Sports show like Pingpong and Slam Dunk?
Here’s wishing you a day full of pleasant surprises!
I'm exploring Asano's work some more and really impressed with his storytelling chops and how rounded his characters are.
Dope, that's a solid tattoo; their calming energy is so zen and partially why I like them so much. Just big chillers.
I'm like on and off and sporadic until 2020 I'd say, but the past two years been steadily watching more consistently I'd say. There's a lot I need to catch up on, and also pretty particular and picky about what I kind of anime I'm interested in. Not a huge fan of the chibi stuff unless it's used with intent like Madoka Magica or Girls' Last Tour. I'm focusing on reading more manga as of late and crate digging through that rn; I've only read a few other the years and that's been a whole new world to me.
Aku no Hana was a revelation to me seeing rotoscope in an anime like that and the closest to a David Lynch anime. Just blew me away with its depiction of loss of innocence in growing up. And Tatami Galaxy was another really key work into getting more into Yuasa's work and experimental anime as a whole. I think of those two works a great deal.
Is there an anime or manga you like that you'd recommend?
I think I found you from Gsarthotegga since I became friends with them recently. I liked your avatar and thought the sloth on your page was rad; then seeing your favorites with Oyasumi Punpun, Aku no Hana, and Tatami Galaxy made me wanna friend request.
