| I can only imagine how happy a mangaká must feel seeing his work getting adapted with such good quality. It's not just that it looks good, it's the direction that it's actually good. It's not that unusual for an anime to have scenes where the aspect ration changes, right? But how many times this change was justified? In this case it was, it was used correctly during that scenes and only during those cuts where it made sense. Now, about the big twist... deg said: the main girl is transgender then damn i thought they will have romance but maybe she is bisexual instead in later episodes im almost sure the heaven they are talking about is that futuristic facility where kids are wondering if there is an outside world Helltaker said: So Kiruko is trans well that should make things interesting... When the character is explaining, contrary to what subtitles in all languages say, what "she" said was not "my mind", it was actually, "my brain". Literally the grey matter was switched bodies from his original body to that one.  With the correct word the situation is a bit different, it's a case of stolen identity. That body belonging to another singular person that was alive and is known by a lot of people gives a whole different dimension to the issue that goes far beyond just gender (dysphoria), don't you think? And I also wonder, in this strange world with unexpected advanced technology, it could be possible for the character to change bodies again, right? If not to his original body at least to a masculine body. |

When the race accident with her brother was mentioned it clicked to me that his mind was probably transferred to his sister's body or something like that. Idk how people think of this as being trans. I mean we had Yamada-kun and the 7 witches where the male mc could switch bodies with anyone he kisses and nobody called that as trans. |

| The attack was scary but they could escape hopefully and they're still traveling to finding more clues, it seems like there are some other supernatural issues, especially for what Kiruko said at the end (making it sounds like she's trans but from what I see it's something else on the supernatural side) so it's more and more interesting... also the orphanage part is mysterious I wonder what's really happening to these kids and how human they are... since the guy falling from that high didn't take much damage strangely. |

| I feel like there's too much going on in this anime and they probably won't have the time to develop and explain things properly, and I doubt there will be an actual good world building in this one. Either way, I have to admit this is looking pretty good so far, especially in terms of audio-visual quality. 6/10 so far... |

| The pacing in this episode was too fast imo. So much happens in quick succession. The show needs time to breath. |

| Lmao the moment that woman turned to face the monster and claimed it wouldn't hurt her, I knew the monster was going to kill her within the next few seconds. The mystery continues to build up, really curious to know the connection between the kids inside the walls and the ones outside. So Kiruko actually has the mind of a male? Like, as in a male brain inside of a female body? Interesting, guess that explains why "she" was kinda ogling at herself in the mirror in the previous episode. |

| That sure was a lot to think about. Poor Inn-keeper, imagine the thing that killed your son was also protecting you, making you think your son had somehow took control over it. Grief sure makes you jump to hopeful conclusions. Maru being able to attack the monster from the inside was very cool and well done. What a cliffhanger for them to leave us on with Kiruko! |

| This is a rare anime where just about everything appeals to me, especially the naturalistic dialogue and behavior of the characters, it really feels true to life and the characters in 2 episodes have grown more on me than characters from entire seasons of other anime. I really hope this doesn't go downhill, it can definitely be the summer time rendering of this year. |

The japanese have a thing for weirdly sexualized brother-sister relationships and with your theory the scene when Kiruko tried to kiss herself in the mirror would rise that fetish on a completely unexplored level. | Interesting little reveal at the end. I'm thinking it's not simply to do gender identity, but more to do with the strange unnatural nature of the show, maybe some sort of technology is playing a part. Not too sure about the choice in soundtrack in the beginning though, the slight upbeat music didn't really merge well with the whole freaky bird scene. I liked the more eerie OST at the end of episode one more. |
