While the anime may not be well-liked by the community, I still enjoy it. One of the few anime I was watching this season besides AoT. Really looking forward to S3, and I'm happy it's been announced. While not as good as S1, I still think S2 was fine.

Overall disappointing sequel season. Winter 2023 ended up having many personally weak sequel seasons (Tokyo Revengers, Kyokou Suiri and Fumetsu).

fumetsu came out in the fall and it wasn't disappointing IMO. Definitely not as much as Tokyo revengers

this trainwreck of a season is finally over and i couldn't be more glad. what a disappointment this has been.
welp, seems there's a new gang on the scene. the tenjuku gang and with that, it seems season 3 has also been announced, or so i hear. hope it improves but i don't really expect it it to, so i hope they surprise me. chifuyu and akkun tryna save takemichi's ass but him being the dumbass that he is lmao i'm not even surprised. chifuyu looked like a baddie in the pool tho, no homo.

thinking abut this season just makes me sighhhhhhhhhhhh but i'll give some credit. i liked yuzuha, taiju's VA as he was gintoki's VA and that one wholesome episode after the fight which was the only good episode. overall a 4/10 for, a major disappointment. i never wanna rewatch this season again but fingers crossed next one isn't as bad as this.
wait Gintoki's VA played as Taiju? His voice is so distinct and recognizable but Taiju doesn't sound like him at all.

well i picked up on it really early and i found it difficult to not laugh through the church fight and everything because all i could imagine was gin saying all of that ironically.

i probably found everything that was happening on screen so uninteresting that all my focus went towards his vocals or something lmao.

I see. I can't be bothered to watch another minute of this clusterfuck just to hear Sugita Tomokazu's voice. It is kinda surprising to me tho. I could pick his voice out easily in Daily lives of HS boys, Mushoku Tensei, Dogeza, etc. I guess it's because he had to make his voice much deeper than his usual roles.

I am watching here making comments that Season 1 was better than Season 2, however I really disagree with it

Season 2 enlightened us a lot about the other side characters like Mitsuya, Hakkai, etc. and even gave some development to Hina & Takemitchy relationship so that we could understand them more as a couple

This arc was kind of a build up for Takemitchy - Chifuyu pair & introducing other side characters who are going to impact in the upcoming arcs like Kokonoi, Izana, etc. and most importantly setting up Kisaki as villain for the next arc

As someone who has already finished manga, this season was definitely better for me than season 1, animation was just fine however the scores made up for it in the dramatic scene even if the manga is superior in art style and also the opening "White Noise" is definitely going to be the part of my Top 10 opening of the year

7.5/10 (B+ Tier) rounding off to 8/10

Hyped for the next arc

Maybe the stupidity has caught up with me in the wait between these two seasons, or maybe it's just simply getting old already. Whatever it is, while I enjoyed this season to some extent, it doesn't feel like it had the energy that made the first season so great, despite the first season's rough edges. Not that there's anything wrong with this, but it's almost like these arcs form an episodic series: like, "tune in next time to see which big bad gang Takemichi has to fight, which he defeats and think he has won, only to return the present to realize everything is still messed up!" Now of course it's not without any development whatsoever, I mean the outcome that Takemichi finds himself at in the future this time around is quite staggering. Pretty much EVERYONE dead, and by the hands of Mikey?? Definitely a big "WTF" moment. I just hope that it can be at least somewhat believably explained later other than something like "Mikey just went crazy for no reason." Speaking of, Takemichi went back to the past to save everyone again- but that's because EVERYONE died. I wonder if he would've gone back in time to just save Mitsuya if he were the only casualty. If that were the case, I think I wouldn't be the only one groaning. Because that would be a side that he probably would time loop to save every single member of the Toman gang, and if that were true, then yes this series would certainly get old fast. But thankfully the stakes for this one are high: not only for all the deaths, but why they were caused. Season 3 does show promise, especially for Kisaki, who it seems like we're going to learn quite a bit more about him, I hope.

On a side note, I just have a small nitpick regarding Chifuyu. Now he's a great guy, probably considered by most to be best boy of the whole series, and that's completely understandable. He's competent, loyal, and always has Takemichi's back through thick and thin.... and doesn't really ever seem to question the fact that Takemichi is from the future and has been time looping back and forth this entire time. He just readily accepts and believes everything told to him. Now on one hand, that's a really good thing. We don't have to waste any time on Takemichi trying to convince Chifuyu. He just snaps his fingers and bam, Chifuyu takes it all in, no questions asked. Again, that's a good thing in all aspects... except for how unrealistic that is. Even though it's not worth it to be complaining about how one small part of this story is unrealistic in a story as a whole which has elementary school-aged kids forming gangs, it still has to get you scratching your head a little, at least. Now Takemichi never even intended to share this with anyone I think, he just kind of accidentally let it out in front of Chifuyu. But since he did, he gave him the full run-down of everything, and Chifuyu just accepted it all with an open heart. Why this was done is pretty obvious: Takemichi was going to need some help in round #238498. Having someone who not only had his back, but fully understood what was going on, would be super helpful to Takemichi. Helpful, but still, no matter how best boy Chifuyu is, still just a TAD unrealistic. Barely even a "huh, what, when, where, why, how?" from him. Maybe he pieced together the puzzle pieces from what was happening in his present to see if it matched up with Takemichi's future, and it all fit. Time leaps never 100% make sense in any piece of fiction, there are always paradoxes, and it probably makes the least sense here, so that should be more of an issue than Chifuyu. Thing is, even if the narrative can be all wack, I think characters can be consistent and well-written nonetheless. And Chifuyu just believing everything at face value just makes him feel somewhat of an NPC, believing Takemichi's story for Takemichi's own convenience with absolutely no issues, just fully on board the "save everyone" train. But it's okay. Again, this is just a small nitpick.

Season 1: 7/10, almost an 8/10. Full of energy, each episode blazed past in what felt like mere minutes. Dumb but it didn't care, it was awesome to watch.
Season 2: 5/10, almost a 4/10. Maybe my tastes have changed a little since then, but it really just feels like "here we go again."
Season 3: Hopefully will be at least a 6/10.

There should be 2 more seasons after this arc.  And we already know the Tenjiku Arc (hands down my personal favorite of all the arcs together- there are 4 arcs).  So I'm guessing 2 seasons for the arcs.  And Tenjiku is a pretty big arc (Volumes 14-22).  I'm hoping it'll be as long as season 1 (which I always considered two small arcs (Moebius & Vahalla) in one season).  And the 3 Deities Arc/2nd Gen vs Kanto Arc was just as great (if you're a fan of Shinichiro- it shows how heartbreaking his story REALLY WAS).  I've been buying the manga and reading the chapters online since they were released.

Chifuyu realised that Hanagaki is back from the future. Kisaki found a new gang, Tenjiku. Why is the other present timeline connecting with the current past? Either way, answers in the next season. Will have to binge-watch it. I get frustrated with weekly episodes.

300 lunatics arrive at Shibuya and the police fucking vanish, Takemichi wants to take over Toman but use shounen manga as reference for his plans, 300 buff idiots not being able to catch MC while he's carrying Akkun... Man, what a joke.

Overall, as awful as the first season if not slightly worse. I genuinely liked Yuzuha but man was the whole Black Dragon arc a pain to get through. Awfully written and with the most one-dimensional villain TR has offered till date.

After all the tragedy he knows will happen and the mental agony he knows Mikey is going through, our MC is.... READING MANGA! And hoping another war happens where he can look cool while these kids kill each other!!

Takemichi is such a huge piece of crap is unreal. How can anyone like or even defend this guy is beyond me.

Chifuyu isn't a good character by any means. He's popular because he's a YES-man to the MC who many people self-insert as.

CAN'T WAIT TO START THE NEXT ARC ALREADY XD The BONDS in this show are really one of the STRONGEST!

For even the weakest group, they'll fight together. The AMAZING STRENGTH, BONDS, AND AWESOMENESS OF THE TOKYO REVENGERS CHARACTERS IN THE PAST are why I care the characters would end up that way in the future; corrupt, threatened, suicidal, dead

It's just a MUST REASON why Takemichi can no longer stop at Hina, he has to fight up the leadership, control Toman, destroy rival gangs, and continue attempt in Kisaki's shadow to change the future for the better and be the hero to save everyone!

I LOVE TOKYO REVENGERS without even need you to explain the time travel. SHAKE MY HAND NAOTO !!! From the epic action and tough characters, IT PASSES DOWN AN ADMIRABLE STORY !!!

Are we watching the same anime? Admirable story?

The hype is real, Kisaki is back in the game, don't tell me, Mikey's first kill was Misaki? so many questions after the previous one, Mikey ends up killing everyone from Toman, there must have been a trigger but he did say ever since he killed someone, everything changed. I guess everything must've started here, the greatest and final conflict in Toman's history, a battle against the gang in Yokohama

And of course we end with another 'plot twist' but this time Kisaki's reveal was obvious. Oh well, I hope next season will makes things more interesting than: New gang enters --> Takemitchi gets beat up for 6 episodes --> Mikey defeats leader with no effort.

Takemitchy training arc at least? PLEASE???? Join the gym or something or get a proper punch bag.
Takemitchy's friends flaunting their association with Toman in Yokohama lands them in trouble with Tenjiku, which Kisaki and Hanma, join having been kicked out by Mikey.
Funny how the main character of this series considers older delinquent manga to be sacred texts lol.
Takemitchy himself is not so bright as he waste's the opportunity Akkun gave him to escape.

Interesting contrast between Tokyo Manji Gang using a Buddhist symbol and Yokohama's Tenjiku using a Taoist symbol.
