Basically, did anime and manga make you want to get better at drawing/art, become an animator, or even make you want to learn Japanese? And to the people who are finishing high school or are in/graduated college, did it give you an idea of what you wanted to do as a professional career (animator, artist, etc) or do you just watch for fun and you don't really care about that stuff?

I always felt i had a calling for entertainment and acting, and anime is sort of what pushed me to pursue voice acting over other work. There's also a specific anime VA for pushed me to pursue it when i messaged them (About how much i loved their work and the show they were on had an impact on my childhood and that i was interested in pursuing it). There's other reasons i want to be a VA unrelated though.

(Mostly because i know i'm sort of ugly and prefer being off camera and that i have bad legs so doing on screen acting would be too painful for me since i'd have to stand up too often. Voice Over is much less physically intense)
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

I often consider writing web novels, the ideas for which are heavily influenced by anime/manga so yes.

Nope, if anything it was the reverse. My hobbies and interests played a role in getting me into anime more. I was always a fan of action stuff and creative powers growing up-- martial arts and giant energy explosions especially-- so getting into stuff like Dragon Ball and One Piece was pretty easy. Not to mention before anime I was a bookworm who also happened to play tons of video games, so this outcome was only natural.

I picked up learning how to play musical instruments due to being fascinated by anime OSTs.

Anime and manga are basically my hobby. Other then that, games and drawing became a big hobby of mine after getting into anime. Also collecting manga and anime merch.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

In some of them. I started to learn Japanese after I watched my first animes.
Also, when I draw people, the predominant art style is anime/manga.
After I watched Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, I decided to learn to play piano for second time in my life.

No, it hasn't really affected anything other than the music I listen to, even the genres of games I play haven't changed. It hasn't had any effect on my other hobbies or career either.

Actually not. In fact, it seems like no hobby has influence on others all-in-all for me, maybe except books and movies. Having the hobbies I have today are a result of other external influence.

Mecha Plastic Model Kits were my initial gateway into OTAKUdom back in the mid-90's,
and i've gradually grown fairly decent at it since;

discovering Anime Character Dolls early in the 2000's, -and being dissatisfied with their out-of-box included clothing-
inspired me to learn Hand Sewing, eventually affording me the freedom to dress my girls as i see fit;

Yes, I started self-learning Japanese because of anime, stopped after giving JLPT N3 exam though. I do fan-translations. I try to draw too but not very good with it, tried to animate as well but it didn't turn out well. Education and career wise anime didn't influence me though, I just picked the subjects that interested me.

As I've said before somewhere, the only Japanese thing that I like is certain Manga (its style, and how it's inked).

And, no, Anime and Japanese games (or games in general) don't influence me, influences come from other sources.

(And I believe you need to be based in Japan to be involved in the Anime industry since its not a one-man's job, and can not be done abroad)

Yeah. I mainly do manga/anime embroidery when I do it. I'm looking into selling them/doing commissions too. Cooking I tend to make Japanese dishes that I see in anime. I have quite a few anime/game cookbooks.

Somewhat. Anime made me want to learn how to draw, and animate. Though I feel gaming was more influential, in a lot of ways.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes

Not really. When I was a kid I was already into drawing and painting. I really liked fine arts, but I was also into comics and cartoons. Naturally I just wanted to search more works to enjoy and get inspired from. Some of the Japanese works however have influenced my art style.

Shokugeki no Souma inspired me to start learning to cook. So yeah.
Best ending line in anime history = "My name is Saiki Kusuo. I am a psychic."

In the past, perhaps. It really depends on the subject at hand.
I was influenced by other people and they were influenced by anime/manga, so indirectly, I seen them too.

Now, the reasons need to be more than that to interest me.
Tbh, the influences from anime/manga on certain interests hv become permanent a long time ago.

Although I have begun reading novels prior, I only became interested in Japanese literature before anime. Though I only started getting into it when I chanced upon selections of Japanese fiction in the college library. As far as I remember, there were 3 or 4 books from Haruki Murakami in the section, and the rest were from Japanese contemporary authors such as Banana Yoshimoto and Natsuo Kirino.
