The show is called Buddy Daddies, yet the Daddies aren't a thing... Is anyone else disappointed by that?

"Disappointed" would mean there were some expectations, so nope.
Even synopsis said, that one of the dudes likes hooking up with women.

Stop being horny holy shit, as a Virgin Male I don't instantly want Female fanservice and you shouldn't instantly want yaoi, first masturbate and then watch your anime.

More sad than disappointed, I expected that.

Difference is you get fanservice in every other anime. The gae, however, do not.

Just from the premise and the trailer you can tell they're not a thing. Don't base everything on English titles that don't always make sense.
Personally, I don't like watching trailers so I don't get spoiled anything. I also wouldn't want to watch something that just pushes the so-called "gay agenda", whatever that is, without caring if it makes sense in the plot.
Peepsqueeker said:
Aside from that, I see so many people asking things like this "Is there Yuri?" "Is there BL?" etc. in a multitude of anime titles that don't even have Romance listed as genre like why are you asking things that are already clear from the get go?
Yeah god, that's annoying
Peepsqueeker said:
People that just watch shows for fanservice are degenerate regardless of their gender- or sexuality. For me the story, character development and pacing are far more important than seeing random underwear scenes or (censored) nudity. Not to say I've never watched shows like that in my entire life, but I value those other things far more than anything.
Sure, I for one don't want any fanservice either, no matter what anime I'm watching, but I would LOVE to see an anime with good gay characters where their romance, or just crush, or whatever is shown properly, making sense plot-wise. I want cute relationships, as they're shown in anime like Spy X Family, just with both male characters. If you know any where the gayness isn't the main selling point and just a thing, I'd love to see that.

Mixing gay representaion and fanservice for fujoshi is a totally different thing. Noone promissed you any gay representation here. It is your own expectations.

I personally have nothing agsinst the gay people, the problem is that majority of BL (and GL for the matter) anime fans are just straight people of the opposite gender who don't want any realistic LGBTQ+ representation at all but plague any threads if the anime has even slightest subtext and try to annoy anyone not seeing it.

Sorry if any of the actual gay users got offended here, it is just that the first post looks like a typical rant from yaoi fangirl whos fantasies got hurt.

Yeah just 2 straight dudes living together and raising a kid together that's a totally normal thing for 2 besties to do haha yeah
1. Dudes being roomates =/= gays.
2. It was explicitely stated in the description that the blond dude is a womanazer ("I don't watch trailers/read title info is not an argument here").
3. There are a few old comedies about two dudes having to take care of a child/teenager. I am fear if any of them came out now, they would start the same discussion. Noone though of them being gay when.

Once again, I am not trying to offend anyone here, but it is a wrong show to discuss gay representation.

Unless it's an anime adapted from a BL manga, or a original BL story, don't except two male leads to ever be in a romantic relationship. Might get some homoerotic subtext, but that's about it.

Thinking back on it....the last tv anime that was an original where the two male leads ended up in a romantic relationship was Yuri On Ice!!! Anyone can correct me if more original anime have come out since then. And I know there's been tv anime like Given and Sasaki to Miyano, but those were both manga adaptations. There was also that lousy horror anime that you could barely call BL. Tricolored Window or something? Can't fully remember because the anime wasn't that good.

Only hope for a possible BL romance in upcoming tv anime is the second season of SK8 Infinity, But I'm not gonna get my hopes up despite how gay the first season was.

Fairy ranmaru was original and gay (gayer than Yuri on ice) yet no one cared about it.

TBH Im glad this isn't Yaoi. IMO it makes it funnier for it being 2 friends that are stuck raising a daughter. I'm not into that Yaoi and Yuri stuff and I would've been extremely disappointed if this show was a Yaoi show. Glad it Isn't.

No, because that's not what I picked this show up to see. I wanted to see a couple of bachelors struggle with the balancing act of being hitmen while trying to raise a kid. So far my expectations haven't been misplaced but we'll see.
You also don't have to be married or dating to be a dad so "the daddies aren't a thing" doesn't make sense. Seems like you were expecting something else.

I think the show will keep baiting you till the end. It’s gonna follow this weird middle path where it doesn’t even commit to the bl but still keeps every single door of possibility open with lots of teasing. In other words, it’s gonna bait as many bl fanfish as possible

NOOOP and to be honest...it's better that way. I rather they focus the child and not each other more.

Also before they are called "Daddies" it literally says "Buddy" right before it, if that wasn't a clue that that this wasn't going to be a yaoi....I can't help you there OP.

Don’t be a freak assuming people want to watch a gay couple just for sexual gain. Some people just thought they were a couple assuming it was like Spy x Family and that’s it. Weirdo.

Personally no. The title of the show is called Buddy Daddies and the preview trailer they had a while back had the blonde MC holding the pregnant belly of his wife/girlfriend/female partner, so I figured it wasn't going to be romance. Also based off the synopsis on how he specifically loves women, I don't believe he's bi- or pansexual so I don't think romance between the two of them will happen. That said, I love the idea of spy family but platonic and I am liking the show a bit more than spy family just based off the first episode.

Spy x family is also platonic. Loid and Yor don’t love each other. At least loid doesn’t. It’s a false relationship.

True. I was thinking of them in terms of the "fake relationship turns into a real relationship slow burn style" trope. I don't read the manga anymore so I'm unaware of if there's actually budding romance or not.

Again, as I just said directly above your post, the japanese use of "buddy" always means "partner"

This really encapsulates the modern anime fan, thank you

your vague reply is to actually thank for that. stating the obvious, everyone knows partner is synonymous with buddy so what's your point in even replying?

your reply seems even more useless than the thread itself.

Yes, but it's ignorant to assume "buddy" has the same connotations of friendship as the way we use it. It's not gay, but it's neutral.
It's not , because buddy here didn't come on it's own , there was "daddies" after it , we are talking about the Japanese lanugage here , not every rule applies to every language.
