Do you watch VTubers? If so, which VTubers do you watch? I am trying to get into VTubers now, but it is annoying trying to find videos to watch. 90% of VTuber videos are either 5 minute clips or 3 hour streams with very little in between.

Used to a little bit, but I felt bad cause a lot of the streamers I liked, like Fubuki, were Japanese and I was confined to translated clip channels.
I liked Miko's old GTA series though, that's fucking hilarious.

I got burned out on them. Too much content to keep up with. I mostly like Gura, Amelia, and Ina of holo EN, though. So I wouldn't mind watching them, but keeping up with all the new ones is hard.

Oh yeah and I still watch some clips of Pikamee, because her reactions, and broken English are just hilarious to me.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes

My favorite thing about Vtubers is the VTuber thread on Kiwifarms was the biggest threads on the site.

And no, it wasn't making fun of them. It was full of their fans, it was in off-topic.

I started out with Nijisanji, eventually became a big fan of Hololive. But nowadays I find myself watching indies on Twitch. Direct engagement with the content creator; communicating via chat, suggesting songs to sing or actions to take, reacting to jokes, etc are only really feasible in 3 digit concurrent viewer territory.
Once there's too many viewers communicating in chat at once, it becomes like a digital equivalent of a crowd in sports stadium bleachers. The direct engagement is lost, along with much of the fun. Got to love it when a DJ vtuber improvises their rap lyrics based on words you suggest

I do watch vtubers a bit. Clips can be fun, sometimes I'll drop by for streams but rarely for very long. I like the HololiveID girls.

i don't know how you managed to describe this experience on a level of accuracy that resonated with me, yeah this. i don't watch vtubers anymore but having been one of the many fans who would wait in the countdown period before the vtuber started streaming for the day or when they were about to drop a new video, release, song, etc. everyone's saying the same shit, spamming the same words over and over, you couldn't try to memorize the same usernames even if you tried. your individual presence is swallowed up to form a towering mega blob of echoes. it is what it is though.

I do not follow any vtuber streamers, but some content creators like Vee and Revsaysdesu use vtuber models so I watch them. I think chats that move too fast negate the inherint point of streaming which is interacting with viewers. Not just donators.

I watched clips pretty casually for a few months prior to HoloEN coming out, don't really watch them now though.

jokes aside i do like vtubers a lot, mostly chiller ones or just have good vibes. Also rohan is right, slower moving chats are great
i really like the holostars boys, hololive & some nijisanji but i do have a negative thought of that company sometimes, mostly when it comes to the EN branch. some serious cool ppl in that company though, ive always loved yashiro kizuku asahina akane & fuwa minato

Yep, but I'm mostly watching Vtubers from smaller agencies like Phase Connect and Kemomimi-Refle (the ASMR is especially top notch from the talent in this agency, with collabs to boot; something you rarely get anywhere else), although I also watch quite a bit of Nijisanji JP and EN still.

Also give Ayamy a shot if you are a Hololive fan.

For the most part vtubers rarely make pre-recorded stuff. If you’re trying to get into them then I’d recommend starting with clips of major vtubers, such as those from large companies like Hololive, Nijisanji, and vshoujo. You don’t need to check out livestreams to get the full experience, however larger vtubers often do special streams every now and then which you’ll probably want to check out. For example Suisei often does karaoke streams and online concerts which I highly recommend watching.

Here’s her latest 3D live (skip to 2:02):

I finally started getting dragged into it a little. I’ve just watched clips and some of the ASMR stuff some content that is shorter. Also occasionally run into PNGtuber videos mainly of artists but that’s kind of something different in my view because different feel and format of content.

I think it would be nice if there was more vtubers that actually teach you stuff while in character rather than them all just gaming, doing reaction vids, chatting about random nothings, making sounds and playing around with their model.

Not a fan of the EN ones aside from a select few like Ninomae Ina'nis, Petra Gurin and Finana Ryugu (all sea creatures XD). I've seen some who seem to focus on being "un-seiso" or "degenerate" for the sake of it to have a kind of "shock" factor in a way to reel fans in. The act runs dry very quickly. One who I've seen execute it well (from the little I've seen from her) was Luto Araka. She seems to be genuinely into this kinda stuff which makes her feel more authentic in my opinion lmao. Some smaller ones I tend to watch are Oren and Crim. They have nice small communities who are very united and there is a lot of connection between them and their fans on a much deeper level than other Vtubers and there is a lot of genuine care among both the vtubers and the fans themselves. By far my favorite community.
I'm also a fan of Pikamee and Tomoshika, as well as Monoe while she was still in it. I've invested the most time into Hololive out of all the Vtuber groups out there. My favorites from them aren't narrowed at all either lol. Overall I like Vtbers but I don't watch a whole lot of them and I'm WAY more into the surplus of amazing p0rn than the talents themselves anyway so LOLOLOL.

Not always, but it's the original source.
It would be nice to watch JP VTubers in real-time.
Maybe I should just learn the Japanese language already. lol

not quite. some of these livestreams go on. the full length can turn out to be 3-7 hours at a time and not even for a special day or anything; just how long it ends up naturally. so unless you're unemployed, not in school, don't have a life etc., it's fine. it is more fun in my opinion to watch them live as you get to see them collab or mic with each other in real time though. you can completely disregard the live aspect as usually the livestreams will still be available on its own to watch afterwards so as to not miss out if you're not free to watch the livestream at the designated times. without the gifting, live comments, and interaction that is. well yeah, edited down to 10-30 minute 'highlights' or compilations from hours long footage is not a snap of the fingers. you could always watch the original livestream and scrub the bar though. what i used to do (lol) was rummage the comment section of a missed stream and often, there would be dedicated people in the comments who list abundant timestamps of the topics/(game) sections/phrases said by the vtuber. this was helpful for finding interesting parts of the video to start off on. i'm not sure how it is with the ENG vtuber side of things, i only focused on JP gaming vtubers.

I took interest in Usada Pekora, because she played 4 MGS games. She was intrigued by the story. She’s funny, too. Her distinctive laugh is no different than One Piece laughs. Even other vTubers try to imitate her laugh. Apparently Pekora is natural born comedian, which seemingly she hates, and she wants to be seen as an idol. Can’t take her seriously.

Futakuchi Mana is my favorite VTuber.

Or if you're also talking about those who streams outside YouTube, then Reine (the Chinese VSinger, not HoloID) is my favorite.

For the big company VStreamers, my favorite from each branches would've be:
HoloJP: Haachama
HoloEN: Between Gura/IryS
HoloID: Risu
NijiJP: Oliver Evans
NijiEN: Pomu
Niji ex-ID: Layla
Riot Music: Nagihara Suzuna
VShojo: Nyanners

Others that I like: Planya, Mana Renewal

But my top liked is still those 2 I said above.

used to be really big into corpo vtubers like hololive etc. (like buying merch and superchatting constantly) stopped watching because the fanbases was extremely vile and the environment hololive bred attracted some really mentally ill people to the fanbase (anti males, purity supremacists etc.). I only ever watch indie vtubers at this point in the background while i'm doing my work and its a lot more peaceful and less drama about men collabing with women or whatever else people decide to be angry about like numbers or something. Can't see myself ever watching another corpo again unless its vshoujo.
