What do you use your On Hold list for? What's the difference between Dropped and On Hold?

I just use it to add series i watched as a kid or in my early days and never finished

But what's it's intended use? The others are at least somewhat clear what they mean?
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

On hold is me putting anime there to make myself feel better about the fact that I’ve realistically dropped it but maybe in some alternate reality there’s a chance I’ll continue watching it or even rarer, finish it.

I use it when I watch a show and decide to pause it in the middle, and I’ll either continue or restart someday, like Angel beats.

On Hold is for anime I might actually get back to someday. I think of it as a place for anime I've just put on pause, and may continue watching at a later time.

Dropped is for anime I know I have no plans to ever continue for whatever reason. That includes childhood anime that I never finished.

I use the on-hold list for those shows that I want to continue watching later. The dropped list is for those I simply don't plan to continue.

I put stuff there that I will either continue watching in the far future, anime that are too long and not interesting enough to continue but I don't wanna drop them either, and anime that I simply forgot what episode I'm on and need to do some research to find the right spot.

Dropped = I probably will never revisit this anime again unless something prompts me to.
On Hold = I will probably revisit this anime or manga, usually used if series are long and ongoing and I want to stockpile chapters. Sometimes I put things on hold if I want to revisit it in a different mood or headspace.

I use this sheet as a dumping ground for all the shows that I once started but abandoned for some reason. Without this list, my "watching" would be huge.

well mine is basically just fulfilling the purpose. Shows I once started but stopped watching for some reason but plan to resume some day.

On Hold is for the stuff I'm technically reading/watching but not at a somewhat-regular pace, or just stuff I'm taking a break on. Dropped is for stuff that I don't want to continue. If I decide not to continue a series in On Hold, it goes in Dropped.
I'm either crashing out or fujoing out.

Oh Hold list for me is for shows/series that are untranslated, or dropped by translators, or on hiatus from authors. I put them there since I enjoyed them but sadly can't continue as there is no way going forward, so either wait for new team to pick it up or author to continue it etc.

I have nothing in Dropped, I rarely drop shows, and if I pick something and end up disliking it 2 eps or 10 chapters or so in, I put it back to plan to watch/read.

I also put some anime that I watched as a kid and didn't finish/don't remember on On-Hold list.. but not all anime, only a couple of them. Most of the anime on the list are on hold though.

My on-hold list is just anime I'd give another go, could force myself to finish or just animes I got slightly bored of but overall enjoyed. It's basically just a second dropped list to me at this point however.

TBH I've tried thinking about how they are different exactly. I guess for me it just means I'm definitely not coming back to the show if it's dropped, but on hold is either a second chance or I accidentally watched the wrong season of something

You have two anime I really like in there… so yeah, maybe get to it.. also curious how some anime scored 10 for you after 1-2 episodes, they must have been really good. Good enough that you completely stopped watching and put them on hold?!

I’m gonna be honest, xMiin said it earlier, on hold is basically a second dropped list at this point.

On hold for me is when I start an anime and either I can't finish cause it went off of any platforms I use (netflix, hulu, etc...) or I want to just pause watching but know ill come back at somepoint to finish.

Pending are works that are more than a year old, but that I plan to read again when I have the chance. In the case of manga, this also includes manga that have not been completed and are still being serialized in magazines or other media.

Dropouts are works that you read once, did not like, and will not watch or read again.

The drop list is for anime you started but plan on never finishing. The on hold list is for anime you started, temporarily stopped, and plan on finishing later.

I never drop anime, as I only start ones I intend on finishing.

My plan to watch list is long. I mainly use my on hold list to keep track of anime I plan on watching sooner...but some are actually on hold.

im about to do it with ashita no joe too! its a great show im just not in the mood.

i might pick up texhnolyze out of the on hold actually, im more in that vibe rn. i watched the OP and gave it a 10 then watched the first scene and decided to not watch it. taht was like a year ago. lol. with an OP like taht it would have to seriously suck to drop below a 10

hahaha oh no, not another one! Def gotta be in the mood for certain anime though. Texhnolyze was on my ptw list, which is also a bust cause I barely watch stuff on that either -_- .. I’m still into Rose of Versailles so that’s got my attention.

I'd only use "On hold" for manga that's still publishing & there's no new chapters available to read or if the anime would be really long & I'd need the time to catch up on it.

My on hold is a place for anime/manga that I feel guilty for dropping, but in the future I will leave it to as a place for non-original OVAs and specials.

ooo episode 16 i see ur past the duel onto the rosalie arc!! i think the duel ep is my favorite episode but maybe just because when i got halfway through the show it was overwhelming impending sense of doom "theres 20 episodes left. im halfway there. half the fucks are gonna die. i know what happens in the revolution theyre gonna die."

the problem is im a marathon watcher stuck in a episode-a-day lifestyle, if i put something down its hard to pick it up again. i can blame fking rose of versailles for this, i watched it then shinsekai yori then it sent me down one of those welcome to the nhk arcs where i join a communist org quit dissociatives and read history and theory instead of anime for 3 years.

On-Hold for me just means that for whatever reason, I'm just not enjoying the anime in question because I don't think I'm in the right mindset for it, and I want to pick it back up when I feel ready. Akame ga Kill! is a really good example; just death after death got really depressing (I didn't know the premise at all when I first picked it up), and I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time. Or like Princess Connect! Re:Dive, which I'm waiting to start again after I've gotten through more of the game's story so I can appreciate the portrayal of the characters a little more once I do watch it. Basically, it's when the current circumstances just aren't right for some reason, but I have every intention of picking it back up later.

Dropped for me would mean it was just so bad that I couldn't stand watching another minute, and I have absolutely no intention of ever trying to watch it again. But the show would have to be reallyyy bad for it to land there. Right now I have an unofficial 'no drop' policy, and I'm trying really hard to stick to that! At least until I've watched more shows and know my specific tastes a little better.

I'm me! The choices I've made are mine!
I don't need your permission to be myself!

On Hold is for priority PTW (mostly shorts) or series I have temporarily paused. The dropped list is for entries I don't have sources for.

I used to use it for when I was watching shows with other people. Usually though I would either drop them or watch them on my own so it became kind of redundant most of the time.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes
