So like this stuff redo of healer, ex arm, worlds end harem, school days and all that dog shit.

Like why do they greenlight this? Do they have some statistics that says the Japanese people will watch it or a shot in the dark.

It's based on sales obviously. Nobody is forcing you to watch any of this.

Stakeholders find titles they think are interesting, and fund the anime project. It's that simple. There are cases where series with very low sales still get an anime, so it doesn't have anything to do with a series popularity, well not in all cases at least, but yes most adaptations get green lighted due to popularity reasons. About them green lighting garbage series, that literally happens in every entertainment industry. Who green lights movies like Cuties for example? Or Riverdale? Same case here.

I don't know about the one that hasn't aired yet but of the other examples you shared, besides
Ex-Arm, they all have dedicated fanbases and are popular in Japan. School Days is a classic.

whatever the novel or manga publisher pays for or finds the money to promote through committee money gets made into a an animated advertisement for the source material. that is the only law.

When there is supply there is demand so people are going to watch it no matter how trashy as hell its going to be.

Oh yeah, dogshit never gets greenlit en masse in the west, obviously. It's not like pretty much all our entertainment is worse dog shit than even the trashiest anime.
They throw a bunch of shit at the wall and hope some of it sticks, just like here.

its funny because people like you who talk about these shows are the reason why they exist, If you want them to go away then stop watching them and talking about them, its like every other piece of media in the world, If it gets engagement they keep making it, If you are offended by shows with adult themes just stop watching/interacting with them

I read like 2. Overlord which was obviously good and another one I would have to find the name of. But it wasn't dog shit. I don't actively look out bad things to waste my time on.

No one was talking about them until they got adapted.

Corporations tend to have a couple of research teams tasked with following the market trends of what sells and what did sell in the past , they basically take the consultation of a small group of individuals to what they should do with their next project , and most of the time these individuals seem to fail their companies with their choices even if these choicese are obvious flop no matter how we see it they just go with it regardless because "data said they are going to succeeded "

Its similar to corporations in the west with their woke PR campaigns that tend to backfire a lot at them because they take the advice of some small indoctrinated individuals that somehow believe everyone wants to be preached out about the current thing .

Ah yes, using extremely poorly rated anime OVERALL = 1 individual.

People like different things and its not tailored to the hardcore fan that wants X or Y series it is on whats popular. Its not possible to know if a series will be popular even if it is very good. They need to take chances on stuff that could be good or they think might popular. We know there are plenty of stuff that is "bad", but if it sells well then it doesn't matter to the studios.

Even with Ex-Arm, the manga was honestly decent from what I read. It was popular enough that it got around 100 chapters. It was the anime that butchered it and turned it into a meme.

Business maybe? Some of them probably just really want to produce/publish something or capitalize on IPs they have. Just like how lesser viewed TV networks makes drama/novelty/news shows just for the sake of having some.

And as others mentioned, some Anime may look poopy to most, but they have their audiences who could like it, i.e. targeted to kids like "Leadale", generic VN/Harem/Romance for teens, or generic and cliché shounen with flat characters and over-used tropes. Most are low-budget anyways so, there's not much to lose for producers/publishers. Sad for Manga artists/LN writers though who has good materials but gets ruined by that kind of business approach.

@MagicPolly there you go, all these anime get greenlit because there's a market. It's not like producers are just selecting manga using a wheel or a dartboard. OP just wanted to show his frustration towards anime being made he doesn't like, just another hate thread. One of the things I like most about anime is that shows that would never be made in the west get airtime in Japan, some good some bad, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I could say the same about any place. There's an audience for everything and what many studios are looking for are sales and dat mullah 🤑

Look at the Slenderman movie for example, a horrible, asinine conglomerated piece of fucking DOGSHIT and a complete and utter disgrace to the creepypasta and its fans.
"Hm, say... Slenderman was pretty popular for a while wasn't it?"
"Yeah, though why are you mentioning him now? People have probably long forgotten about it already."
"What if we made a Slenderman movie?"
"Like I said, he's yesterday's trend. People don't care about Slenderman anymore."
"Yes but people LOVE nostalgia nowadays, you know those videos of random early 2000's TV programming that garner millions of views?"
"Yeah?"
"What if we made a movie on Slenderman that the kids that grew up with it can get all nostalgic over? Think of the sales! Their childhood nightmare, turned into a reality!"
"Holy shit, that's a great idea! But wait, does anyone here really know anything about Slenderman? We can't make a good story if-"
"Who cares? We don't need to make it good! The fans will gobble it up! Alright, get me a bunch of bimbo actresses and get to work on the CGI, and don't bother with the plot! As for the horror, people think the Slenderman is scary right? A few jumpscares will do the trick!"

That's how I imagine it was greenlit.

A lot of people in the entertainment business in a position to make greenlight decisions are people with extremely questionable/no taste or no real interest in that entertainment themselves. Maybe they find a property that looks vaguely like something that did well, assume that will do at least a decent percentage of the successful one's business, and greenlight it with an unrealistically low budget.
Maybe the studio is a poorly managed outfit that doesn't understand the material, and gets rushed into completing it without time to polish it.
Maybe the producer has strange taste?
