Do you guys still able to Enjoy Shounen like you used to? or slowly starting to watch or less of them?
Interestingly did some of you happen to like shounen nowadays more than you use to in your teenage years?
Thoughts?

P.S - If someone got the idea somehow i hate shounen then no i like them for what they are and exactly expect stuff from those shows that they suppose to do.

P.S - Welp first thread after a while.

I'm not 25 above but I know many 25+ who enjoy it. Shounen demographic mainly targets teenagers but I think most of the adult watchers like it aswell...

I still watch battle shonen, the only problem being that this new battle shonen is trash, the only decent stuff that came in 10 years was chainsaw man and even that is garbage made for disgusting losers, never trust a manga that has two bitches more popular than the main character. I am very excited for Bleach, this anime will save my battle shonen dreams

In retrospect I can't say I've ever particularly enjoyed the category, nonetheless there are some big names I still manage to somehow like, namely One Piece, Douluo Dalu and Black Clover.

usually by shounen people mean some pepega-big shows like one piss or naboruto. and when you get older it seems to become harder to dive into some long running mid show.
on the other hand if you consider shounen as some generic demographic thingy, like "anime for the bois" I guess I still do like some here and there but not as much as when I was a high school kid e.g.
Am I a good person? No. But do I try to be better every single day? Also no

I can say that I still enjoy recent Shounen series such as Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken and Black Clover as much as I enjoyed watching series like DBZ and Naruto while in my early teens.

32 here, your typical big budget action Shounen (think Demon Slayer for example) isn't something I get particularly excited for honestly but I do find them good for bing watching to pass the time and still occasionally watch them especially if it's a sequel. Aria The Animation is considered "Shounen" and that's one of my favourite shows of all time. My most most anticipated show of the year (Yofukashi no Uta) is a "Shounen" so it honestly comes more down to what Genres are attached to said Shounen anime than it just being a Shounen. I'll pretty much watch anything, doesn't really matter what demographic it's aimed at.

I don't let something like age demographics stop me from enjoying something. That being said, they can start to feel kinda samey, but I'm usually in them for the fight scenes more than anything else. Shocker, I know.

Out of nostalgia, i still enjoy my childhood shounen. But newer shonen, like My hero acadamia adn Black Clover just don't hook me.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Yes, I still enjoy shounen series. Everything in moderation though, that's how I don't get burnout, switch up the genres/tags every anime.

I'm still able to enjoy them, but certainly the probability isn't as high as it once was unless it's a sequel of a franchise I like.

I'm trying to make an effort to watch less, but that's more of in general and not just anything marked Shounen. The itch to complete the franchise of seasons I watched is still ever present and the likelihood that the sequels get adapted is higher which doesn't help.

As for likeable Shounen now than ever before, yes. I actually enjoyed stuff like Jujutsu Kaisen more than Dragon Ball Z

Battle seinen are usually better than battle shounen, maybe because I'm part of that demographic. They need more recognition, for some reason no one uses the term "battle seinen" in the first place.

The exceptions are:
- Strategic battles (HxH, JoJo, World Trigger)
- Tatsuki Fujimoto's works (CSM, Fire Punch). I guess because their edginess resembles battle seinen (I hate it when people say "AoT should be a seinen" and now I also stoop that low).

EDIT: I just realized this thread was about shounen in general and not just battle shounen lol
Regarding non-battle shounen, some are good and some are bad just like any other demographics. I'm open minded.

23 - so I can go back here in 1,7 year when I'll turn 25 (If I won't forget).

I am still enjoying and still should be enjoying shounen as this is just fun to watch, nothing else to say in this topic to be honest.

I am 25, and still enjoy shounen as much as I ever did. Most shounen tend to also cater to older men since teenage boys and men are not really that different in preferences. I have not lost my love for anime at all though I often do not care for pure slice of life school anime like Hyouka. Shounen romance is still my prefered for the genre since it includes gems like The World God only Knows. Male mcs in shounen are way more relatable than some rich bishounen shoujo character.

Based post. I hate how anime degeneracy became the new mainstream. I'm in it for the fun, an occasional good message and that's really it.

Pretty much this. I simply can't resonate with newer shounen protagonists. The only thing worse than being a dumb protagonist (like Naruto and Luffy are) is being a total crybaby or pansy, and a lot of newer shounen seem to have complete pansy protagonists.

I’m in my 40s and enjoy shounen. I only started watching anime last year though and have watched and enjoyed many animes from multiple genres though. If it has good characters and story I’ll enjoy it regardless of demographic.

It’s funny because I probably would have liked shounen less had I watched it in my teens and 20s because I used to find teen characters kinda annoying. But now that I’m older and a parent I find myself able to sympathize with them more than I could even when I was a teen myself.

I'm 35 years old and I've been slowly losing interest in shounen ever since I turned around 30 years old. With the exception of some anime like One Piece which is still my favourite, some of the newer stuff I find it's hard to get into now. I don't seem to care much for jujutsu kaiser or MHA, demon slayer is alright at times but it's only great appeal is the incredible animation.

Some of these try to get darker I notice though compared to shounen back then, so there's a slight draw in that. But then there's also the next generational ones where you get crap like Boruto and its only appeal is the occasional badass fight with Naruto and Sasuke, the clips you'll see every so often on YouTube.

I can't say I enjoy shounen as a whole, but a bunch of shounen are some of my absolutely fav anime.
If I like an anime, I don't care in which magazine it has been published, but a lot of shounen got tropes and characters I dislike.

I'm turning 25 in July but I've only really watched a few battle shounen. I remember getting into Naruto for a short time 15 years ago, and I watched it again just last year, but I didn't move on to Shippuden since the massive amount of filler and ridiculously long arcs with sluggish pacing made it a chore to watch.

I am currently getting into Fairy Tail and I'm really enjoying it so far. However, the battle shounen trope about the MC being able to tap into his massive power only during very specific circumstances is still very much present in that show too.

I am not 25 myself, but I know my older brother and some his friends still enjoy battle shonen like they used to. However, it is usually the older series they watched when they were kids, and maybe one or two of the new gen battle shonen.

I used to love Shounen growing up and look back fondly on Mirai Niki, Naruto, FMA, Soul Eater ect. but now I’m not so much a fan anymore. JJK is the only thing I have really liked recently. I didn’t care for Demon Slayer and am currently having a hard time with Assassination Classroom. I liked S1 of AOT but now I don't really care to follow up on it.

IDK, I guess my tastes have just changed.

I was 17 when I started to watch Anime, even at the time shows like Hitman was truly a horrible experience. At the time I did enjoy FMAB, but right now I can't even watch the first ep's without wanting to punch the monitor thanks to the comedy.

When it comes to Shonen, the comedy is something that makes the show horrible for me.
And makes it hard for me to even score the show above 1/10.

As time have goes on the comedy for me, have just gotten worse, i will never be available to finish FMA or even start watching Hitman.

And I will say this now, if you're 12-18 years of age and you think Hitman and FMA is good shows, you do have horrible taste, because it dosen't exist any reason in this world why this kind of childish comedy need to be a thing.

When 2x dudes sitts inside of a dog, and gets out shitten, that's garbage and it's not funny. It's just pure facking garbage. And please, watch better shows.

Shounen is good, it exist a lot of good once, and they still makes me feel goosebumps but at the same time we have a lot of shity once.

Yes, in fact I am the self-proclaimed foremost battle shounen expert on this website!

I'm 32 years old and a battle shounen (Dragon Ball/Z) was the anime that made me go to the internet and start watching anime that weren't on TV (Dragon Ball GT) and 20 years later it's still one of my favorite genres.

I enjoy the basic formula, most of the tropes and seeing how new shows try to mix it up within the confines of the genre, like with different settings or MC personalities. A generic battle shounen is a good watch for me. The only way I can lose interest is over time, if it drags too long while also getting worse and worse. e.g. Bleach or the later seasons of Nanatsu no Taizai. Those were tough towards the end. Or Boruto. But for the most part I watch and like (at least in the beginning) every battle shounen I can find and this doesn't seem likely to change after all these years. In fact I think I'll always be able to rely on a good battle shounen to get me out of an anime slump.

I am 22 and yes, shounen anime made me slowly lose interest in anime generally, because of their overwhelming popularity and the domination they have over other genres.

I used to enjoy them in my teenage years, but this doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I will never forget my hype while watching Death Note which led me to rewatch it 4 times and remain biased that it's one of my favourite shows ever, but I don't know if it will appeal to me the same way if I rewatch it now.

That's not to say that I hate shounen, I just don't like them much anymore so I give them less chances and I cringe too quickly. If I see a cliche pattern in the first few episodes (or even the description) I won't even touch it.

Lately I found myself watching anime only when I am with company or alone ironically, and I blame Legend of the Galactic Heroes for that. It raised my standards so high that I don't think I will be able to enjoy anime in a serious manner again if I can't find something that struggles to reach half of its level. That's just a personal opinion though and of course I recognise I am biased. I have many friends my age who still enjoy shounen unironically.
“They call certain methods of fighting good and others evil, acting as if there were some nobility to the battlefield. Such illusions, perpetrated by heroes throughout history, have led countless young men to their bloody deaths, all for the sake of this valor and glory.”

I think the best thing is to try some top-tier shows that can't be compared to LOGH because they're completely different in what they're trying to do and their genres. It certainly helped me get over that post-LOGH bump and I ended up coming out of it with a newfound appreciation for genres I didn't touch previously (like romance and slice of life). I recommend Ping Pong, Rakugo, maybe Nodame Cantabile (that was the big one for me back in the day since the other hadn't aired yet when I saw LOGH). Accept that LOGH is the pinnacle of its genre, but rejoice in the fact that you have still to discover the pinnacle of many other genres :>
I probably regret this post by now.

Actually based ChIncel man take. Although there's been some disgustingly low-level written shit on bleach's final arc (from what I've read so far), it's still good and easily better than what Chincel Man or any of these modern battle shonen hoped to be. In any case, Fire Punch >>>>> Chincel Man.

Still watching Shounen but Seinen is my top priority now.

Also old Shounen with slow progress > current Shounen with OP MC in early of series.

Don't ask me why, because you can see clearly the different beetwen them by seeing number of episodes there.
