I’ve been in anime burnout for a few months, and I want to get back into anime. I just don’t have the motivation; any tips?

How on earth can you get burnout from watching animes? That too for months? Incomprehensible. Stop giving silly excuses and go binge a 24 episode anime, NOW.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

I think you may need to find a series you're interested in or really want to watch and start watching it.

I don't get anime burnouts for long. I just read some manga when I face a burnout. Sometimes I rewatch a favourite anime.

Take a break. Seriously. When you come back, come back with a classic you haven't seen yet, or something unlike what you usually watch (ex: if you mainly watch new stuff, watch something old). Also, if you can, I'd recommend watching something with another person. It really gives a new experience. Just remember that the most important thing is to take a break, and take it slow when coming back.

In the mean time, there are a ton of other things you could get interested in for a while.

Edit: It also seems like you haven't really gotten into One Piece yet and, judging by the shounens in your favorites, you'd probably like it. Then again, I'm not sure how well it'd help with your burnout. Usually, finding a really good manga/anime can help with the burnout for a little while, but after I complete or catch up to it, the burnout comes back pretty soon. The best choice really is to take a break and come back with something that reminds you why you watch anime. After that, just take your watching habits more slowly. If a show is 26 episodes, it's okay to take a couple weeks to finish it. Believe me, your burnout will pass and you'll be able to watch anime again, at least for a while.

I've been through that but mostly what I do is avoid and take a break from the overly generic, too predictable and boring shows especially if it has those qualites and it has like 20+ episodes (for me its mostly shounen shows that gets me that burnout phase especially when it has the power of friendship and a extremely dense mc)

but for me i mostly find and watch something that has either a good story that makes me think and actually get me excited for the next episode (like Higurashi series, Vivy, Re:Zero, etc.) or something that's not too complicated and just watch something cozy (like Yuru Camp, Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?, Amaama to Inazuma, etc)

If you're still feeling burnt out, maybe wait a bit longer. Then I'd pick something short, like 12 episodes, so you don't get overwhelmed with how much you have to watch. Find one that engages you and that might help ease you back into watching anime.

Either:

- Take a long break from anime and manga

- Find other hobbies and watch anime on the side

- Get lucky and find a few series that you can successfully get hooked into and binge them all in quick succession.

- Put everything back into your PTW list (except completed/dropped) and only watch one show at a time.

Yesssss I watched so much in 2021 that I didn't watch anything for 4 or 5 months. I'm starting to get caught up on shows I missed.

Watch things you actually WANT to watch and care about. You don't need to watch every show each season, or even ANY show from the current season. Watch at your own pace with the shows that interest you the strongest.

Completely relatable, sometimes I’m just not in the mood to watch any anime I started, so I put them all on hold, and I don’t find the motivation to start anything new for weeks, generally, when I’m in this situation I know I can’t deal with anything stressful, so I just go for a CGDCT kinda anime, and that’s a remedy for my soul, I find myself getting back to watching anime after some time.. Also tbh, most of the time I just rewatch Haikyuu that’s my confort show (Only God knows how many times I’ve rewatched it).
Tbh, I find myself in this situation a lot because I’m the type who can’t drop an anime no matter how bad it is (my dropped list is just an extended on hold list), so sometimes I really lose interest after several bad episodes in a row (Idk why do I do this to myself, I need help), also after finishing a masterpiece anime and I feel empty afterward, so I have no idea what should I watch next, and I find myself avoiding new shows for some reason).
So I would advice you to determine a category or genre that could bring you peace of mind, in order to get back to enjoying watching every episode and not feeling obliged to watch it. Or try to understand the reason you’re avoiding them, in order to find the right anime that would get your motivation back.

wow, this topic sure pops up every day now.
I want to say branch out but I went through your list and there are already plenty of odd entries on it.
you have 400 on your ptw list.
the easiest way for you right now is to watch something you'd be interested in.
what sort of anime do you feel like watching? I can help you narrow it down.

By doing any other things than watching anime or reading manga, find other fun hobbies.

i had very often a anime burnout.

i also did not watch anime for 2 years.

i simply lost my interest.

only one anime in a year, when i comes out on Netflix for example.

but it was not bad, it got annoying with the sesonal anime to watch every week right on time or you get .
the other reason was it was a very monotonous anime time for me. nothing new, always the same.

i would say just take a break.

#1. Find a girl/boy

#2. Get into a relationship

#3. Woohoo

#4. Fight

#5. Breakup

Then watch anime, they'll never leave you behind

Happened to me. Took a break for almost an year. Started watching randomly as in whatever was airing and ending up liking stuff. One thing I learned is that at a point you need to be able to differentiate between a "Good" show and an "Enjoyable" show. These two attributes are often times mutually exclusive and hence some people find it hard to get into stuff which a lot of people are absolutely smitten with. Try being less critical and start taking some stuff for granted. It's an entertainment media . Don't get influenced a lot by what others have to say.Give it time. That's what helped me.

Subjectivity is a joke on MAL. If you implicitly bring in subjectivity in your counter argument, you've already lost the debate. Also this website is a fankid infestation , have pity on those kids by ignoring there quotes as they have absolutely no clue what exactly is going on.
