| This mini arc about franky's past was done pretty well. Though i have to say my favorites are still nami, and Calgara's. This one was still felt with emotion. The government dogs are just full of trickery. They framed franky with his own built ships and turned them against him. Another event that was explored in this arc was how important the pluton weapon is and that its a massive ship capable of eradicating the world with its power. No wonder the world government is after such a weapon. Despite the fact the world government are supposed to retain world order to keep the world in good balance. I am starting to see there is more to them, then meets the eyes. They are certainly shady characters to me. Also the ship of Gol D roger was created from none other then "tom" He really must be a legendary ship builder. Lots of important story events were explained here. |

| One Piece has never once failed at a backstory. They always hit so hard. I could sympathize to Franky to such a degree that I could feel the hate welling up inside of him in me as well. He always hated the unfair treatment Tom got, and he was outraged that Tom wasn’t mad about it. He had to be chained up in a crowd of civilians speculating on his ties to Gol D Rodger and with government officials interrogating him after setting him up to be in an unwinnable case. And then, when Tom realized that there was no way to win, he broke his cuffs and punched out Spandam for using Franky’s ships as weapons and making him feel such pain over it. When he reeled up and exclaimed “DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE PAIN HE’S FEELING”, I knew it was going to be good. I must say though, I don’t fully understand Tom’s message about being resolutely proud of your ships even if they end the world. And Tom, confessed to something he didn’t do so he could allow his disciples to be free, only to be kicked in the face by the stereotypically trash navy commander Spandam. This moment was the time that I had to think to myself that I can fully understand Franky, I hate Spandam, and I hate the people who agree with him. Franky already hated how Tom was able to let all his unfair treatment slide off him and here, he was throwing himself under the bus accepting more. So, as expected he couldn’t take it and went on a rampage presumably breaking Spandams jaw. I was both sad because Tom just gave up his life to let them go free and Franky is messing that up, but also so grateful that Spandam was getting what he deserved. In his rampage, he got shot and tried to save Tom by blocking the train. Something that probably ended up forcing Franky to get cyborgized in the end, and also something I have to wonder if Yokozuna attempted to copy as time went on. Of course Franky couldn’t have stopped the train, but like Usopp his pride was on the line and his love for Tom and his anger at Spandam were too much, he couldn’t stop. Yokozuna probably picked him up and brought him back to Kokoro? However, if that’s the case Iceberg would have known he was alive so I wonder how he was saved. This flashback truly made me love Franky. I didn’t think I would like him, but this coming after he’s made friends with Usopp warms him up to me. He’s stubborn, extremely emotional, very honest, and wears his emotions on his sleeves. If he feels something it will come out no matter what. He’ll bash in government officials jaws and try and stop trains with his bare hands. What if Tom somehow never died and is out there somewhere? Franky would be so happy. All he wants to do is build ships under him. That would be a reunion that would be on the tier of Kaya and Usopp, or Shanks and Luffy. Lastly, seeing that horrible flashback leading directly into Lucci talking about CP9 and the people's view of Tom being a ferocious violent fishman made me so irate. It’s Noland all over again. The loser in history being an amazing person but being forgotten and slandered by everyone but those directly related to them. It was good to see Spandam permanently messed up for all the awful things he did. |
| Franky's past did not make me cry (it nearly did though) but it weighed heavy on my heart to see such injustice befall on him and Tom. One Piece flashbacks are absolute hard-hitters to the feels, that's for sure. Even though they weren't able to stop his inevitable execution, at least they were able to get two really good hits at one of the biggest assholes in the series before it came to that. Fuck, you Spanda. Tom did nothing wrong. Finding about the reason why Yokozuna hates the Sea Train so much and why Franky was presumed dead was very interesting. Franky will be brought to Enies Lobby at this rate but that means that Spandam will be at punching distance once again at last. |

| I hate to say this but...Tom should've died there on the spot. The idea that he needs to be brought to Enies Lobby where it's notorious for criminals who never came out there alive, just proves that Tom may have suffered excruciating tortures. |

| Great episode once again! I feel the main plot of this arc and the next arc are clear to me now. I am 100% sure Tom is still alive, Oda never kills people. I really hope Spandam is not the main villain of Enies Lobby...he is not badass enough at this moment in my opinion. Lucci is way cooler. Franky his backstory was really sad and heavy, but not enough to let me cry. If would be much more hitting if Oda really killed him off..but that's not the case. The most emotional moment in One Piece till now was the fight between Luffy and Usopp, I nearly cried back then. I think Water 7 sets more things up for the remainder of it. The goal of Enies Lobby will be a big operation from the Straw Hats (Luffy and Usopp will make up in a couple of episodes I reckon) to rescue Franky and Tom from the World Government. |

You've gotta love how Tom was always laughing at everything xD I've been wondering why that frog was trying to stop the sea-train.. well that explains it. I was not expecting to see Spandam, looks like he wants to get his ass kicked again. |
| Injustice is not a new theme in One Piece, but I always find myself feeling frustrated when the characters are falsely accused of something they never did... Poor Tom ;/ |

| If they take Franky to Enies Lobby then he may be reunited with Tom! And the crew will have to bust the two of them out and make history being the only people capable of escaping Enies Lobby. Ahhh I can't wait to see what happens! |
| Dang so that loser head of cp5 is now kind of a bad ass leading CP9. He was just annoying low level in the flashback. Hope he much cooler like rest of CP9. But such a tragic backstory. Tom another bad ass mentor. Goat tier character. I wonder if there any chance he survived. I wonder if franky will get capture or if the straw hats will save him somehow |
| So much injustice in this episode and it was all because of Spandam’s interference in the three men’s lives. Seriously what an asshole. How he ever got into the government I will never know. Though I did find it satisfying when Tom starting punching him and reprimanded him for essentially ruining Franky’s dreams and then he confessed to a crime he never committed just so Franky and Iceberg weren’t given the same punishment as him. Franky couldn’t bear to see his master which let this event happen with everyone just badmouthing him that he ultimately did get his wish of wanting to smash Spandam’s face in to the point that the guy needed bandages around his visage. Franky ultimately tried to save Tom from going to Enies Lobby which is where we are gonna head off to next but from what we saw of the moment, Franky didn’t succeed and was then presumed dead it’ll explain why Yokozuna went in front of the Sea Train earlier on in the arc but it doesn’t explain HOW Franky got all cyborg like in his later years. Maybe we’ll get something next arc or whatever but for now we have no idea what’s happened to Tom. No idea if he died or if he’s held somewhere in Enies Lobby it’s pretty much up in the air for me. Bad news is that Spandam is still alive in the present and is apparently Lucci and the rest of CP9’s boss only his face is heavily fractured that he now needs a brace around him. God the whole stuff involving Tom just makes me think of Noland, a brilliant guy in the past, but now just another guy to throw scorn at. We just can’t get any shortage of depressing stuff at Water 7 can we? Otherwise another solid episode for this arc and man I’m so close to the end of this arc I can feel it most definitely. |
