I saw an anime girl and liked her, then I changed my profile picture on Facebook.
People started to ask me about that anime girl, but I didn't know anything about her, so I watched her anime, that's how I started.

I got into it through my sister. She's always been really reserved and hard to talk to, so I tried to take an interest in anime because that's all she would really want to talk about to members of my family.

I started to connect with her through anime. She would lecture me about what anime she watched and we would watch some series together, and I began to really get into it!

She got into anime through her friends at school, who are all huge My Hero Academia fans.

Technically the English localization of Cardcaptors lured me in as a kid and I got early exposure to parts of Evangelion. My best friend in primary school also exposed me to Mushishi and xxxHolic. Around the same time we both found Tsubasa:Reservoir Chronicle at a book fair at our school and were immediately hooked. I neither finished the Tsubasa manga (which was still serializing) nor any of the anime at this time, though. It surprises me how many of my favorites now were introduced from that one friendship. Years after they moved away and we fell out of regular contact I started questioning whether the relationships I had with other people were genuine and worthwhile, which was probably a catalyst for rewatching and rereading the media I shared with that special friend. I don't consider my anime adventure really started until 2012 when I rewatched xxxHolic and actually finished it, and afterwards consistently watched and read new titles up to the present.

I'm already invested on watching anime ever since I was a little kid, like watching Pokémon dubbed in my language (Tagalog), it used to air on a particular Philippine TV channel so definitely a discovery, had a CD of it.

Anime saved me from boredom during my early days.

I was raised on Cartoon Network, i watched it almost all day every weekend. One night, i fell asleep watching it and woke up to a cartoon called "Inuyasha". I thought it looked weird. That night, i also watched the Ghost in the Shell series.

That was my first time seeing anime, but i didn't get really into it until my cousin showed me these really cool looking cards. They were from a series called Yugioh. I got really curious and wanted to see where these cards came from, so i watched the show and genuinely fell in love with it. Every week i'd watch it, i collected the toys, i bought cards, i got posters, i got whatever i could. I even got a birthday cake one year with Yugioh. It was genuinely the greatest thing i'd seen. 20 years later and i'm still obsessed :). Without Yugioh, i'd never care about anime.

I loved Yugioh and wanted to see more of this style of show. It got me to branch out into Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Naruto, and all the other big Shounen. But none of them replaced my Yugioh.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Watching anime has always been a part of my life ever since childhood. I used watch a ton of anime without knowing it’s anime. To me it’s always been like any other cartoon.

I some of the notable anime I’ve watched on TV growing up were:
Detective Conan
baby and me
Naruto
One piece
Dragon Ball
fist of the North Star
Pokémon
Yugioh and many more.

I’ve also watched Some old anime by Nippon Animation Such as:
Arabian Night: Adventures of Sindbad
HunterxHunter (I know it’s not that old but it’s part of the same studio so..)
Romeo’s Blue Skies
Homeless Child Remy
Little Princess Sarah
Captain Tsubasa
The Trapp Family Story
Jungle book
The Swiss Family Robinson
The New Adventures of Honeybee Maya, etc.

I’ve also watched Ghibli Movies in my childhood which include:
Spirited away
My neighbor Totoro
Caste in the sky
Princess Mononoke
Ponyo

But I don’t consider these my pathway to anime in a way. Cuz I officially got into anime in 2014 and my first official anime was Tokyo Ghoul.

I started watching anime because it’s popular in my Country. It’s so popular that even my parents watched some of these growing up. So it’s cool to watch anime where I live as it’s rare to find someone who doesn’t want anime.

At very young age I saw DBZ on TV. Only by coincidence and just bit of it. I was a fan of the violence, but didn't know it was anime, thought it was some other cartoon.

Years later in school, as a kid that used to like gore movies I asked a friend if he knew about any bloody movies to recommend me, he then pointed at gore anime shows and told me to watch Higurashi and Elfen Lied. At first I didn't want to get into anime because I had a negative perception of it.

At some point he convinced me to watch and it was then that I really discovered this media and started watching first by his recommendations, afterwards I just explored stuff by myself and kept watching anything that caught my attention.

When the Blend S memes were popular, PewDiePie mentioned how it was a good show. Cringed through a few episodes, but I soon began enjoying it. It was very strange. I nervously laughed throughout the show, but I liked it. And that was the beginning of the spiral.

Oct 1991 I was a pissed off 13 year old and was on my way to get rolled into a street gang when a friend of mine (Daniel) detoured me. I wasn't 100% on joining a gang per se' but I was bored and pissed off and wanted to get back at my father for his cheating ruined the family (the ripple effect) and I had to be there for my mom. ANYHOW... Daniel and a mutual friend Chris told me about some violent and bad ass cartoons in a style called Japanimation or Anime and that this one hour show on a community access channel (Channel 20) called Anime Review was coming on and if I'd check it out. I was like... "Yeah, why not?"

Saw the first 45 minutes of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) and was blown away. The old fan sub done by "The Clown Gang" version. They also had recorded other shows onto VHS tapes in the past, and so I got to see Episode 2 of Bubblegum Crisis "Born to Kill" and was like "Hot Chicks... Rock Music... Action!" Then they pulled out Supernatural Beast City a fan subbed / titled version of WICKED CITY and my jaw hit the floor with how detailed the anime was... and toons were having porno sexXx??? Like what o_0 Thus I never did end up going to the stupid gang initiation I was headed to that night. I got ragged on and peer pressured into joining but I was more interested in Japanese Animation. *LOL* ---That's REALLY how I got into it. I had seen anime before in 1980 from my namesake of UFO Robo Grendizer horribly chopped up into 26 eps from 74 [Just now watching it the proper way in 2022]... and of course had seen SDF MACROSS as well as Genesis Climber MOSPEADA as ROBOTECH... and had seen STARBLAZERS, but had no idea that it was from Japan. 1991 was when I realized it was from Japan and was different and cool.

I became obsessed from 1991 till about 1999/2000. After that I still watched and collected but it was sporadic. Then in 2018 I started getting back into it, but it would be during Covid that my son now the same age as I was in 1991 got interested in Sailor Moon and a few other shows and we bonded over that. Same friends Daniel and Chris was like you need to see "Golden Kamuy" and a few others, and been back in the saddle ever since 2020 all over again.

I have watched a lot of anime (Ghost Stories, Monster Rancher, Dragon Ball Z etc) before but wasn't that much interested. I used to give equal importance to both movies and anime.
Movies weren't much addictive and I got a bit bored of them. In 2020 I started rewatching Wolf's Rain. Then I searched for more anime. I got to know about Death Note in 2020 from a friend.

I have watched Dragon Ball Z 5 times but I had already watched it 3 times before lockdown and most of my other rewatches are the Doraemon movies.
I have added Doraemon as completed in my list. I'm sure I have watched more than 2000 episodes if I include rewatches. I don't really care much about it but I have watched all the 42 movies+short movies

Although I'm amazed by the fact that I was able to find out it was Rem there. She's only in the intro for a split second, and I don't recall ever seeing her name in the comments, either.

I vaguely remember searching 'Blue hair (anime?) girl' and going from there.

It wasn't until 2015 when my cousins showed me Dragon Ball Z that I started to get into it, and then in 2018 I officially became a weeb and started watching more and hentai as well lol.
