| This episode had so much build-up that I was crying for the entire second half. I absolutely love how raw are arguments get in this show and every response Emilia gave to Subaru was on point and realistic. Their season 1 argument near the end was the same and I loved it. Subaru argument with Rem too. The acting and writing is so polished during those scenes that it feels like a TV series (with real people). The kiss scene was everything I wanted it to be and I wasn't expecting it to happen right now. I'm so proud of this anime for getting here. |

| Dropped. I think it's enough torture. Even the first season was somewhat bearable but this arc is an overly-complicated trash. Even the forced romance between Simpbaru and Emilia is cringe-worthy. IMO the show is turning out to be more boring and redundant instead of getting better. |

Jeez those last 11:32 minutes had me  Subaru repeating the same stuff over and over again while Emilia is sitting there crying and being as stubborn as a 5 year old that didn't get the toy she wanted for her birthday or something. At least the first half was somewhat good, because Ottos backstory was kinda interesting imo. This arc has been about as exiting as watching paint dry. |

| I only hope that we're getting Otto's backstory - not because he'll die soon.. I mean, I wouldn't like that, really.. Well, wandering merchant profession is like this overall, really.. Like, I doubt that witch cult is the only criminals on the road after merchant's money.. Well.. Couple arguing.. ;P But for real, though - why Subaru couldn't just keep his promise?.. Was he so busy with something else or what?.. ;D If so - why you can't say so?.. Unless he did this, so that Emilia would become more resistant to being on her own or something like that.. But like lol.. You didn't even talk with her properly, and taking such decision like this?.. If this is indeed, what Subaru is doing here - it's at least questionable.. Doesn't make you trustable, Subaru, if in the end only you know, what is better for someone.. But if you didn't break your promise for this thing - what for did you do it then?.. | Damn the whole thread is about them kissing. Then there's me sitting here NOT understanding their plan. I don't get why they would've to halt garf, Subaru could've talked to Emilia in the morning even if he had to go out in the middle of the night for some reason which we might come to know later on. Can somebody explain? Also, I just wanted the whole confession scene to end quickly not because I'm an Emilia hater or some shit. It was kinda cringey. |

| I'm happy that we got some backstory for Otto. He really is a cool character. Gotta love OP inserts. Subaru's big confession scene dragged out a little too long but it still made me smile. |

The kiss and Subaru's support was nice but man was some of the dialogue like children's love level stuff and was weaker than the Rem-Subaru episode from the first season which felt more raw and passionate there and less forced. I'm not even a Rem fan at all and I'm saying that (more of an Echidna/Crusch fan for this series). Also, god bless Otto since he looked awesome in the previous episode and it was good to get more background on his character but man was it a drag to watch through. The animation wasn't too great and looked a bit choppy at times. Overall, this episode was fine but had a lot of boring parts in the first half with Otto's story as well as some rough parts with the Subaru-Emilia conversation but ultimately ended up well I guess. |

| Even though it kinda felt like it came out of nowhere, the Otto flashback really pleased me! He's my favorite character in this arc by far. The second half of the episode though... Yeah, I kinda respect Re:Zero going for long dialogues and taking its time, but it's kinda getting old and it keeps fucking with the pacing. I was rolling my eyes multiple times and preparing my lunch in the meantime because it was taking too FUCKING LONG. But they did kiss in the end and I really liked that. It just should've taken like 5 min less to get there lmao |

Well it wasn't exactly a magical curing kiss. Emilia and Subaru did argue before that happened and the kiss itself was a "proof" that Subaru loves Emilia. It ended up fixing the issue at hand but it's not the kiss itself that did. The kiss instead gave ground to Subaru's previous statements. Some of these statements are that Emilia is a normal girl, that she's a pain in the ass, that she's all talk and can't do shit when the tiniest of problems occurs. And while these sound like insults, it made Emilia realize that Subaru wasn't in love with a perfect being, but a normal girl with issues. Now she'll be able to work on these issues and fix them, thanks to her argument with Subaru. |

I enjoyed Otto's backstory a heck of a lot more. I have enjoyed it so far but the weakest area for me is definitely the Subaru and Emilia romance. Emilia gets dumbed down so Subaru can talk his way in. Belittling Emilia in the process but at the same time making her look thick enough she needs talking down to |

The novels clearly explain how the scene is more like two children making a trantrum than anything else. Subaru's multiple "I love you" is him reminiscing the first time they met, so he's like a child having blinking stars in his eyes. The moments when he's more serious is him trying to find the words to help Emilia. It does seem strange in the anime, but considering Emilia's mental baggage and the descriptions of the novel it really makes sense.
