My current least favorite opening is Shinzou wo Sasageyo, not because I find it a bad song (it was indeed my favorite for quite some time), but that song is coming on 5 years old now and I've just been burned out on it. My War and Rumbling are currently my favorites.

same op 5 was the third rehash of opening one after op 3, I was sick of them at that point. I’m surprised op 2 is first place, it’s hella underrated and was a really good song. Glad op 5 is almost where it deserves to be, at second place 😩

Gotta say opening 4-5, although the new one I’m kinda conflicted over. The metal screaming is sick (just like in death note) but could’ve been used more selectively. Still, it’s tough making an opening for a show where it’s expected to be one of the best openings ever simply because it is in that show. I honestly don’t understand how the aot openings are so consistently great

Oh it’s just not forgettable for me since it’s really nostalgic, but that makes sense. It’s not nearly as catchy as most of the other ones. Only ones around as forgettable as op 2 imo are op 4 and 5 probably in that order, I completely forgot them both before I rewatched the series again recently

Red Swan didn’t really match the story and wasn’t catchy. It’s definitely a really good song but not for aot imo. Jiyuu no Tsubasa is my 4th favorite after The Rumbling, My War, and Guren no Yumiya. Then, Red Swan, Shinzou wo Sasageyo, and lastly, Shoukei to Shikabane

My opening tier list (I am taking into account both the visuals and the song btw):
1. Red Swan (OP 4) - Maybe because this is the most different, but I love it.
2. My War (OP 6) - I love this one, it finally gave me something comparable to what the ending of season 2 felt like (which is by far my favorite ending).
3. The Rumbling (OP 7) - Honestly, I think the only reason this one is up here is because of recency bias. The song is great and I have a weak spot for amazing pans. The gun shots into the water coupled with the song is great. Part of why I put it here is because I think the lyrics are great. I like the screaming parts, I didn't think I would.
4. SHOUKEI TO SHIKABANE NO MICHI (OP 5) - This one I initially didn't like, but damn it's actually great. The shifting from fast to slow motion in the visuals coupled with the music: YES! I have a soft spot for shifting in pace like this.
5. Jiyuu no Tsubasa (OP 2) - This feels like how I think most people view OP 3. I just love the pans around the ODM gear coupled with the song. It completely hypes up the Scouts and I love it!
6. Shinzou Wo Sasagey (OP 3) - Honestly, I wanted to put this one higher. It just doesn't hit as hard for me as some of the other ones.
7. Guren no Yumiya (OP 1) - I just can't listen to this anymore

OP5 is just a rehash of the last OPs. It's a proof that Linked Horizon has to go as their mysic is getting too old for the maturity of the series.

Also, as much as I want to like Red Swan, I can't just seem to do so as it really felt out of place. Could've worked as an ED but all in all it's a waste of Hyde and Yoshiki's guest performance.

I don't understand how people can hate on Shoukei To Shikabane No Michi so much. I think it's by far the best opening in the series for a lot of different reasons:

- First of all, the lyrics are amazing. They encapsulate a lot of the show's themes even from after S3 and they're incredibly smart and well written. A lot more well written and subtle than The Rumbling
- Musically, the melodies are great and interesting, as well as the great chord progressions that Linked Horizon always uses.
- The song uses motifs from every other LH opening, as well as the Akatuski No Requiem ending, which fits perfectly with the arc, since it brings a great sense of closure to everything. This is the arc that has setup since the very beginning, everything has led up to this and it makes a lot of sense to bring the openings full circle.
- Last but not least. it's absolutely gorgeous, the visuals are simply amazing. The color palette is great, the slow motion shots look very cool and it's very spoiler-y but in a way that you don't understand anything until actually having watched the entire season (unlike The Rumbling, which just spoils it with no hesitation).

I actually could keep on writing a lot more but this probably gets my point across fairly well. By the way, the full version of the song is amazing and I urge you all to listen to the lyrics, seriously, you'll be surprised at how nuanced and fitting they are with the current arc and even not yet animated stuff.

I hated how it was the third opening that sounded almost exactly like the first opening (second one was Shinzou wo Sasageyo). Besides that, it definitely had amazing visuals. But it was just forgettable because of how similar it sounded to guren and shinzou. Overall my least favorite, followed by Shinzou wo Sasageyo next and then Red Swan since that opening just didn’t really match. Akatsuki no Chinkonka was ending number 4 and was paired with Red Swan in season 3 part 1. Name of Love by Cinema Staff (the people who made ed 2, Great Escape) was paired with Shoukei in part 2
