The plot is engaging and we get development on most of the characters which adds up to the emotional impact when they die. Even when Eren's mother got eaten was already heartbreaking so I can't really see your point on it not having an emotional side at all. I think it manages to portray its post apocalyptic setting quite well. Not to mention it didn't have as much ass pulls as Code Geass or any other shounen has. |

| I agree, I can't empathize with any single character in AOT. Eren is a little shit who screams about "TITANS!",Mikasa is basically his stand and Armin just screams. All the emotion in the show feels hollow to me and I'm a big fan of characters driven by rage or vengeance from Goblin Slayer to Guts and even classics like the Count of Monte Cristo.Also the Armored and Collosal Titan reveal mightvbe the most stupid thing I've seen in a long time. |

| It can be annoying but it's not a sub par writing because humans won't give a shit if someone who got into an accident is not someone they know. In a subtle way, one can relate to politics and how fear can be used to control humans. |

Those that come to compare instead of watching and actually allowing themselves to feel the emotions are missing out. Going into any anime without paying attention to its hype or having unreasonable expectations is the best thing you can do to get a full experience (plus steering clear of spoilers) and most people allow those factors to get in the way very often. I can personally remember stumbling upon this anime after vaguely hearing about it and by knowing nothing about it, I was able to be immersed from the beginning because there were no expectations to thrust on it to make me compare it with anything else. At face value, this anime is strong in every category: music, animation, world building, etc... and the characters which could be considered the weaker point are finally being explored in more depth throughout seasons 2 and 3, therefore we have development and more continuity of the world. And I love it, I truly do. It's not just about some kid yelling about titans and I dislike that many only took that away from the first season, but hey what can we do? Shame, really. That others didn't feel the emotions because they were honestly there. |

| I'll raise you one and say I felt no emotion when watching this, I've seen every episode of the main series thus far, and overrated is an understatement. Looking back, especially after certain events in a manga that shall not be named, the first episode is just shock value galore. "WOW, LOOKIE EREN'S MOM IS GONNA DIE, AND SO ARE ARMIN'S PARENTS!" I couldn't care less |
