Monster

See it for yourself. You're welcome.

As always the person recommending for me please be careful. Kudos for picking one of Plan to Watch.

No. I want it to be a surprise. Or read spoiler

To you, I recommend Ghost Hound and Kaiba.

The former was created by Masamune Shirow, who is also responsible for the Ghost in the Shell franchise. Ghost Hound is just as cerebral and visually appealing, although this time with a more supernatural twist.

As for Kaiba, I don't know where you stand on unique visuals, but this little gem of a series is really worth your time. The main reason I recommend it is because, much like Ghost in the Shell, its setting is basically the same: a future society where most people have almost completely become machines. Kaiba feels a bit more human, though.

As for recommendations for me, please DO NOT tell me to watch some generic shonen, harem, etc. It's not that I'm completely against these genres, but you'll need to have some really good reasons. Oh, and anything from my PTW is okay, as long as you have good reasons for why I should choose that anime before anything else on my list.

@Bakura
Because you hate typical shounen I recomend you Hikaru no Go. At first it appears as a typical shounen, maybe it even is (it's sports anime), but the character development plays such a good role on it that it turns a good series. I think you should try it so you stop haeting the genre: as in anything there are good things in it. :3

Why aren't you watching FMA Brotherhood? Or did you drop it..?

Because I want it to finish before I even start downloading it. I want to plan how I'll watch it better than "one episode a week". It will make me suffer less that way.

I'd suggest you check out Akagi, since you liked One Outs, there's a good chance you might like it as well, similar main character character, a lot of gambling involved etc, One Outs is basically Akagi with baseball.

I think people need to put more effort in to their recommendations. A few words like "awesome comedy" or such appended to a series title doesn't really make much of a recommendation for this thread as it demands an explanation as to why you recommend it. You have to back up your opinion and try to convince people to watch what you are recommending them. So explain your stance and what makes you think the person you're recommending to will like the show (assuming you bother looking at their lists to attempt to understand their tastes, if you don't you shouldn't be posting in this thread as it's not for spam).

I just deleted a bunch more posts, which I really dislike doing since it can throw the thread out of order without people actually quoting or naming people they're recommending to. Please, please try to keep this stuff in mind when posting in this thread, or your posts may just be deleted.

I'd recommend Last Exile to people who like adventure and a fantasy/sci-fi setting... I'm not finished with it yet, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit!
The only thing is, that it's a little bit confusing at the start, but other than that, it's great!

@ShadowbladeEdge

Seems you like complex characters that, through interaction, have very interesting yet simple relationships (Aria, Spice&Wolf). It's already on your list but not rated so I suppose it's on PtW, so I'd tell you to watch Nodame Cantabile.

For something absolutely not on your lists, watch Vampire Knight as you liked Zombie Loan and have some dark environments on your high scores. It's not a very good series, but entertaining.

Watch Perfect Blue, it's from the same author of Tokyo Godfathers (but not cute) and a very dark and well made thriller. You also seem to like non-chronological story telling and this puts that in an edge. More than non-chronological, it's random but in purpose.

Finally, Higashi no Eden. Dark, fast paced, good mystery, great story, awesome characters, lovely sub-plot. I think you'll like it.

As usual for me it's better something already on Plan to Watch. Be careful not to recommend something repeated. ;)

@ladyxzeus:

First off, sorry I skipped you. I actually couldn't tell who had made the last recommendation...

But now I've got a great recommendation for you: Haibane Renmei. It combines deep, darker themes (some of which ABe took from his own life, if I'm correct) with cute (but not moe!) characters and great art, so I think you'll enjoy it.

There's also Paranoia Agent, which you should enjoy if you like Satoshi Kon's movies at all. Despite supposedly being made out of his "leftover ideas," it's still pretty interesting.

And just out of curiosity, why have you watched GitS sequels before the originals? GitS: S.A.C. and the original movie may not have as many human qualities as their sequels, but they're still worth watching for their high production values and intelligent plots.

And to whoever posts next, a good tv series would be nice, as long as it's not too generic.

You've seen like 90% of the shows I've watched lol.

Didn't see Elfen Lied on your list, and its not on ur blacklist, so go watch it :D
(The closest anime I can think of to it is Higurashi which you rated pretty high)

@ Rhastaroth

You have a lot on your PTW so I picked a few I thought you might like:

NANA- You rated some of the romance anime high and this is a particularly good one
Phantom- This has the gore of elfen lied with with romance thrown in. A more serious anime but from what you rated high it seems you may like it
TTGL- A good anime; cartoon-ish drawing. A change of pace from the seriousness of the other two.

Wow 30 minutes slow... let me fix that
@ManBearPig...

I like your taste in anime. You should check out Last Exile. It has very good pacing and action for a 26 episode series. You've seen a lot of anime that have been licensed in the US already like this one. It's got a little steampunk sci-fi in it, which you definitely will like.

For the next poster, I've been watching plenty of immature stuff lately and I think I'm ready for the heavy twisted stuff again. Monster sure took a lot out of me. Followed by Kara no Kyoukai. Soo good. so so good.

Wow nearly half the anime on your list are scored 10/10.

Anyway, based on your list I'd suggest these:

Fantastic Children - similar to Future Boy Conan
Mushishi - similar to Kino's Journey and Casshern Sins
Hajime no Ippo - similar to Slam Dunk
Shigurui - It's as creepy and gory as Higurashi but without the moe.
Kaiji - similar to Death Note and Monster
Aria the Animation - because it's in your plan to watch

You might want to try Windy Tales. It's a very slow-paced and subtle anime about the daily life of a middle-school student (with special powers). No moe, no plot, just a slice-of-life anime for true slice-of-life fans.

As you enjoyed Azumanga Daioh and Minami-ke, I also suggest you check out Ichigo Mahimaro, which was done by the same studio as the first season of Minami-ke. I found it to be one of the better anime comedies out there.

@ Flygon

Genshiken. You haven't passed the 30 days border just yet, maybe Genshiken will cure you before it is too late xd

More seriously: Osts and art aren't that good but that doesn't seem to bother you too much, based on your ratings (or am I wrong?). The episodic story is kinda cool IMHO

This may sound weird but I think you would like Lovely Complex. It has a gorgeous humour and following your highest scores the kind of pace you like. But it's heavily shoujo and romance directed.

Also, Coyote Ragtime Show. Good moments as well and great action.

I'd also like to recommend Excel Saga, but it's jokes and parody are very specific and you may dislike it according to the anime you have watched (it's "old" anime and consequently only parodies older facts of life. Not much fandom stuff)

As usual, don't recommend me stuff I've watched already please, bonus for something already on Plan to Watch.

Judging from your list, seems like you enjoy older anime.
I'm going to suggest Yawara!. It's a marital arts comedy (older style, not Tenjou Tenge style) about a girl who's grandfather has taught her judo all her life and wants her to go pro, but she just wants to be a feminine high school girl, get a boyfriend, etc. It's really hilarious and the drama is interesting, imo. Hope you enjoy it! ^^

I shall suggest Shigofumi. It's a mystery/drama anime about a girl who delivers letters from the recently departed. I know it's already on your plan to watch list, but I suggest it should be the next thing you watch. Another decent anime you might be interested in is Bakemonogatari. It's uhh... unique. And hard to explain.

Seen it, was kinda cool. Good OSTs, overall pretty funny. 7/10. I'll probably check out Excel Saga, heard it was pretty funny (and it got Hokuto no Ken references !? MUSTWATCHNOW!)

@Dr_Qwerty

You haven't seen that much and we have low compatibilty.. But if you liked the epic emotiononal power of TTGL, you'll probably like Gintama. Don't watch it yet, the parodies are more fun if you know where they're coming from :p

You could also watch Cromartie High School.
