After over a year of watching Anime Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken season 2 part 2 was the first anime that I voluntarily stopped watching an episode mid way because the pacing is atrocious and there is long ass conversations right in the middle of the fight. The Anime could've cut that part and keep the fights consistent but they didn't.
I'm already halfway through so I'm gonna finish the Anime after finishing Jojo part 2.

Edit:Looks like people got it wrong. I meant an episode which you stopped watching midway. It was so self explanatory.

Fullmetal Alchemist. It was like my 3rd or 4th anime. I don't even remember why I dropped it.

Nisekoi, when I heard that the story revolved so much around who the MC was gonna pick, I kind of lost interest and it got left behind as I was picking up other shows.

I usually eventually pick up the ones I drop. But the most recent one I stopped watching halfway was Fumetsu no Anata e.
I don't really remember exactly why I dropped it. The story is amazing and painful. I guess I just wasn't that invested in it, and the animation wasn't the best.
I don't have plans to pick it up anytime soon.

Junjou Romantica maybe. I found it on youtube when I was like 14.
I was so excited to finally see a romance that isn't straight, but then it not only looked like shit, it was abusive af too.

Angel beats I predicted 98.9% of the story half way through episode one and I also didn't like the concept I think I really can't remember much except that I knew how it was gonna play out

my hero academia season 7, how the adaptation is painfully mediocore I don't even know where to begin what is wrong with the adaptation like how many scenes they portrayed very wrong, yes they were panel by panel but how they portrayed these scenes was so wrong and also very poor/mediocore direction that really felt very uninspired to the point that I felt I was watching motion comic and not an anime, manga is way better being way more creative than anime adaptation with it's incredible paneling, incredible visual storytelling with amazing flow and many more perks I could think of more, panel by panel adaptations or faithfull adaptations does not equal good and my hero academia current seasons are the perfect example of it.

Probably Pokemon 2019/Journeys. The early episodes were so bad with the fake continuity hypebait that I think I dropped it either during the 9th episode (I think it was the 9th episode, can't remember) or right afterwards lol.

To my recollection, the only show I've ever dropped in the middle of an episode is Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms

I usually at least finish the episode I'm on before I drop it but that show just sucked ass and I dumped it

Bonus points for being the very first episode too

I've done that a lot. Contrary to the impression which doing such a thing and mentioning it might give people, it usually doesn't even mean that the show is "bad" or subjectively perceived as bad by me.

It just means that the show - mainly tonally and in presentation, isn't close to and anything at all like what I expected from it based on its synopsis, poster, genres, reviews, etc. And what it is in lieu of that is something which either isn't my preference in general or isn't something I'm specifically in the mood for and seeking out right now at this very moment (the moment of starting the series).

This season alone I already did it with Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi and The Beginning After the End, for instance.

I don't know for sure (I'll add a note to this if I remember something), but while not midway, I did stop watching the final episode of Clannad After Story about 20~ seconds before the episode ended, since I was so fucking done with that dumpster fire.

Can't remember which one was first, but I think "Imouto sae Ireba Ii" was the first show I dropped without even finishing the first episode.

I used to at least finish an episode before deciding to drop something, but sometimes you can tell something is just not worth it by just watching some bits of it.

Ever since then, if I'm not vibing with an anime (regardless of how many episodes I've watched) I can stop watching at any moment, sometimes even without watching the second episode.

I no longer have the patience I used to have to watch something to the end, unless I'm hate watching it with someone (or for some reason in particular)

Edit: lol, who tf revived such a dead post, smh, this is a forum from flipping 2021 XD.

Edit 2: If you mean stopping on an episode, but continuing later, well, that's hard to do, specially if your interest on the show has decreased.

The Apothecary Diaries. I probably dropped some in my teens that I don't remember, but I've had a long streak of at least watching the first full episode (at least up to the ED).

I'm sure I would have liked this anime, but I had recently lost a kid, and seeing the sick baby was just too much for me at the time. May pick it up later if I find out the kid survives (which I'm sure it does), but I had started checking out the show to try to unwind and it just brought back to many bad recent memories.

Not sure about the "first", or even how we're defining "midway".
I remember dropping Zettai Bouei Leviathan in maybe it's first minute. It's not even on my list, so I'm not sure if it even counts.
In either 2015 or early 2016 I did drop Overlord in the middle of it's second episode because the pacing was really bad.
Even when I eventually came back to it and watched the entire franchise, I had to recognize that it's first two episodes sucked.

It was probably "Dragon Ball Z" back in the late 90s. I Use to watch it when it was airing on Cartoon Network in the common room of my College dorm late at night during it's rerun cycle before they even had their Adult Swim Platform. I think I completely lost interest half way through the battle between Goku and Frieza when I think that particular battle between the two lasted over 30 episodes long. I just got so tired of watching such a ridiculous fight where the two ended up trashing talking each other more than actually doing any actual fighting and sometimes spent up to two full episodes of simply just powering up just to do normal damage to each other.

Which was saddening that the Dragon Ball franchise even turned into such a macho battle bitch fest, because I use to I love watching the original "Dragon Ball" franchise when Goku was a kid when I use to be able to get my hands on bootleg copies of the series on VHS in the early 90s, when going to comic book conventions that were held near the town I use to live in back in the day. "Dragon Ball Z" just lacked the perverted humor, it just lacked humor in general too, it lacked much of the original characters I use to love actually playing important roles (such as Bulma, Kuririn, Roushi, Launch, Oolong, etc...), it lacked the fantasy adventure it use to be for me to enjoy, etc... Just the fact Goku was no longer the naive little kid anymore just made it all the less appealing to watch to begin with. It just made it more cringe that Goku as a full grown adult was still naive but a married man that obviously had to have had sex with Chi-Chi to knock her up to have Gohan. lol

I tried to give "Dragon Ball Daima" a chance recently since Goku is being featured again as a kid, but the magic of the original franchise just wasn't there for me so I dropped it too... This Anime is just better off being watched back when traditional Cel animation was still being used for the franchise.

someone told me yosuga na sora was a good ecchi anime but it had incest so i was prepared because i had watched kiss x sis few years before that and liked it even. so i start watching the first episode and midway a scene comes which immediately made me close my media player. so cringe i couldn't look at it for 2 seconds. i had a physical repulsion and audibly screamed at that shit. it was horrible. that's when i realised i've grown out of these pathetic shows. seemed like i had lost some power. made me a little sad but slightly happy too that i've grown as an anime watcher. i can no longer watch cheap-mindless ecchi either. i've become a plotfag and good-character-developmentfag as some might say.

@_Mazino you clearly haven't watched yosuga no sora to call eromanga sensei the greatest abomination. eromanga sensei was at least entertaining

Hunter x Hunter (ep 29) was supposed to be my first-ever anime (like, the first one I properly started on my own).
Ended up leaving Hunter x Hunter for Naruto or Classroom of the Elite... kinda regret it tbh, so now I’m not sure what my first anime was, but I think it was Naruto (it was supposed to be)

back in the day of TV, it was every series because the commercials were invasive and unskippable so you ask yourself "was this episode of censored Pokemon worth the risk?" and it's always a yes

so I'll draw an experience from today's animes and say "100 Girlfriends Season 2 episode 12", I was watching it on a Tuesday and got caught up on Chainsaw Man and april fools with mangadex's gachadex where me and my friends were collecting the funny excerpts of that event. After an hour i remembered i was watching that episode and came back to complete it. 100 gf is more of a gag anime so there really isn't value if you fully immersed yourself in the show and watch it all through out.
