Be honest, when you see over 2000 completed you think to yourself that they have no life.

No? Maybe its just me.

I don't look down on them but that number makes me wonder how they find so much free time on their hand. I mean I have been watching anime for more than 10 years now almost every week, yet I still have less watched shows than 400.

I used to, but now that I have wasted a month of my life watching catching up with One piece with both the anime and manga, I can relate to them and even be impressed

Simply because a lot of people who have completed a lot of anime add oav, movie, recap with one series, when you really saw only 400 anime you can pretend to have seen more than 1500.

And I despise people who have seen more than 1000 anime, I mean i have seen a lot of anime and I struggle to find good anime now, and you will make me believe that he has seen three times more animes than me.
Either he doesn't have any critical sense or he likes to watch bad anime.

Not really, it makes me wonder where they find the time to complete that many. I tend to get bored with certain anime that I watch so it amazes me that someone has completed that many.

You really need to learn to respect people, seriously.

I know you don't have the gut to say you despise a person that has watched +2000 titles IRL

I don’t since more than likely they have that huge number due to watching anime for a long time and it just accumulated over time

Same here and can relate. I just drop them and jump to something else if I ever feel bored, then return to it one day if ever.

pritty sure the majority here would say no.

including me, but you are only going to get bias opinions on a site called MYanimelist.

no, there’s no reason to. and MAL counts music videos, shorts and anthologies as anime so in reality 2000 anime wouldn’t be that much

If they are watching anime for a long time then of course they can. That does not mean that they have no life.. (in my opinion)
Hardcore Berserk fan

My favorite quotes
Griffith (from Berserk): "Dreams breathe life into men and can cage them in suffering. Men live and die by their dreams. But long after they have been abandoned they still smolder deep in men's hearts. Some see nothing more than life and death. They are dead, for they have no dreams."

Guts (from Berserk): "Revenge... War... Maybe that's enough reason. I'm all alone, I think. For now. And within me is the black berserker rage... And only that... Will keep me on my feet. As I head toward you... Pressing on."

Have been watching anime for over a decade now and am just at 500.

This year is actually my tenth year of actively watching. I watch around 9-12 episodes everyday, all during dining hours (breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper), with the occasional marathon day here and there... further proving I have no life outside of anime and gaming.

So you are telling me most on here are lying and just artificially boost their number count with filler?

I kinda got out of that habbit, used to have it for like the first 3 years of actively watching anime.

I don't got a life either, but mine is worse cause I just waste it on meaningless stuff instead of building a list and have something to show. As long as it makes you happy there is nothing wrong with it!

No, I look down on people who talk shit about fans of series like Mushoku or other controversial series while their own list is private.

Yes it does. It is the number that MAL shows as my completed anime (under anime stats) and that counts separately every season, OVA, short, music video and so on.

I definitely don't look down on them if they have seen 2000 anime. If anything, I think I would respect them rather than think they have no life because lets be honest, if you have 50 days of anime watched or above, you have no life either.

No? What point would there be to that? They’re not hurting anyone, and they’re partaking in something they’re passionate about. In fact I’d say I’m envious of them for having the free time to watch that many anime. If anything I look down on the people who look down on the people who have seen X or Y amount of anime XD.

You are right but I would become burned out pretty fast if I chose to watch anime every time when I need to charge up my batteries. Of course I have other hobbies.

No, I don’t. My opinion of them doesn’t change, whether they watch 100 or 1,000 more anime. But if they completed over 2,000 anime or so, and they’re relatively young, then I guess that’s when I think “wow they have a lot of spare time on their hands.” The only people I look down on, are the toxic fans who send death threats to studios, and people who harass/attack others over the silliest of reasons.

Why the hate towards them, though? In your comments I see lots of self-deprecating and cynicism. If you're in a bad state making these troll treads won't help, you know. I'm sure there are people in your life wishing for the best of you so prove them right.

Depends on how many years they watched anime. For example, if it took 1 year to watch 300+ anime, then I think to myself, "Wow, they have no life."

no, i look up to them as my great paisens in anime watching and in life.

that is, until i find out they have a significant other and then i do look down on them, for being filthy normies, who happen to also be really into anime.

i also look down on people who don't have many completed anime and claim to have seen everything of value (only for you to check their list and see the expected 100 shows between 2010 and 2020).
