Sayu's mother never redeemed herself. But I still dislike Mishima after the series. She was the worst.

I cant believe Yoshida rejected Sayu one final request of sex. I mean, its not a sex by lust like the first time they met., its a sex by love so that Sayu will never forget Yoshida. It may not sound important to him, but it is very important for Sayu so that all of her hundred sex encounter be overwrite by her sex experience with Yoshida. I mean ffs, even a kiss to the forehead or something will do just fine.

I'm surprised that Yoshida and Asami is getting 'good' together. Theyre texting and meeting so casually. And its been two years so Asami is like 20-21 yrs so age wouldnt be a problem for Yoshida right? And that smile Asami did while she is reading Yoshida mail. Its a smile that saids "I'm glad I'm dating him."

And yeah, I expected that Yoshida and Sayu reunion. I hope he will give her the D this time lol.

That was a fun ride. 7/10

Many ups and downs in quality and writing with this show throughout. The LN readers announced countless times on the forum how the two end up together in the end so it was already known for a while, even as someone who hadn't read it.

Despite the flaws, which there were many, there was still some enjoyment to be had for me with this show and I don't see any wrongdoing on Yoshida's part. 7/10 seems fair I think.

The end credits left a teaser at a second season and im already looking forward to it! Yoshida finally confessed his feelings for Sayu to himself at the ending but after the credits you see her again on the street just like it all started and it says "next time" so I assume that the studio is planning on making a second season in the future, whenever that may be.

That was anticlimactic. The first couple of episodes are sure intriguing but the second half somewhat becomes boring and Sayu's dark past is not what I imagine I heard that she was raped by her brother.
Anyway, a 6/10 to me there are some good moments but that's it maybe an OVA would be good.

Guess Sayu is perfect now "There is no way I can forget" scene is still a resounding one,Sayu still thinks that intersexual relationship is the way to connect, But yoshida counter by patting her head,is still a top notch scene.Once again a ultra pro max respect moment for yoshida.
Deserves this season top male character

Loved this episode a whole bunch, it was really cute.

This was such an entertaining series, and it was one of the ones I really looked forward to watching each week. This was much less harem-esque than I was expecting, which was nice and dang that ending was reallyyy sweet.

Quick reminder that Sayu is one of the worst characters to ever exist.

OK. Now the mom became good and accepts Sayu, God this made me laugh because how bad it is.
Sayu never changes and remains a horny b*tch till the end. Asks Yoshida to have sex with her without any self dignity. Good thing Yoshida stuck to his principles.

Now, everything is over and she comes back to Yoshida? Idk if this is an open ending or she comes back but if its the latter, then this gotta be one of the worst ending ever in an anime.

And thus ends the disappointment of this season. Started off strong with its initial episodes and kept being repetitive. Then it evolved into a cringe-fest starting from Sayu's backstory. And people defend this trash on Muse Asia Youtube comment section.

Hope there never exists an anime like this. 3/10 for the anime.

No dude, Sayu's brother isn't. It is fact though that age doesn't matter when it comes to love. Love can be even be on objects.

What did I just read. Of course I'm joking with that pedophile thing but the context was something like
-You are in love with her aren't you
-Nah she's just a teenage girl
-I don't think age matters when it comes to love
Of course he was talking about love beetwen people

I'm in the "started out good and went downhill" camp. I started out rating this a 9 and my final rating is a 6. I probably would put the last episode in the 3-4 range.

The story started out with an intriguing premise and could have been great if it were about Yoshida becoming the parental figure Sayu lacked and dealing with her issues and learn how to relate to others, including boys her own age. It's not as if Yoshida lacked women his age interested in him, either. Instead, it became a male harem fantasy where the older guy winds up with a cute high school girl who says she's happy to cook a clean for him and is eager to have sex with him, but doesn't have much personality or ambition beyond that.

What kind of job is Sayu going to get? Is she going to work in a convenience store forever? Is she going to college? The story doesn't say or seem to care. Is she going to be a housewife? Have children with Yoshida? What kind of mother would she be after the crappy childhood with horrible parents she had and with her socialization problems the story touches on and then drops? Maybe she'll just cook and clean for him and never move beyond that? Is everyone fine with that? None of this seems to matter to the story because all that matters by the end is that Soyu fulfills a fantasy for lonely men like Yoshida. What a wasted premise.

That Sayu crawls into bed with Yoshida and overtly offers him sex in the last episode to get something out of him (him not forgetting her) and exactly the mistake she made over and over again before he found her stunned me. That Yoshida didn't have anything much to say about that also disappointed me. It shows that Sayu really didn't learn much or change and as soon as Yoshida started thinking about her as a potential sex partner, he gave up on trying to help and fix her or make her a better person.

From here:

The central character is often but not always a developing character. However, it’s crucial that the action of the story causes some character to change. When I was at Clarion, Damon Knight used to write “Who cares?” at the end of stories in which no one develops — a characteristically terse criticism which I found devastating.

My last point...

If Sayu's brother had really been a good brother and kept an eye on her and watched over her, she wouldn't have wound up sleeping with men to have a place to stay. Nobody calls him out for this. It's fine for characters to make mistakes like that to make a story happen but I wish the story didn't act as if he didn't make any mistakes. If he were really a good brother, the whole story would never have happened.

It was a good anime in my opinion. Always seeing people hate on it but I mean too bad, they have their opinions I have mine. Cute ending especially re-enacting the beginning of the anime.

Well, that was sort of touching honestly. Aside from the bed scene which just created more room for controversy xD, everything else played out fairly as expected.

"Yoshida taking care of Asami-chan now? Good riddance." - My first impression when Yoshida-san's friend teased that. Good to see that Gotou-san and Mishima-san aren't bailing out on the race but it seems like the conclusion seemed to suggest otherwise sadly. Definitely interested to check out the another story featuring the two, hopefully that gets an English translation and doesn't beat around the bush.

All in all, I was really interested with the start and even ended up binge-ing the released chapters of the time. But the hype surely dropped by the week and I'm left with an almost indifferent impression now. As such, a generous 6/10 I suppose.

I agree with what you put in the spoiler. I read what was out in he manga and was like wait they skipped that entire part.

What it shows us is that he never really got through the Sayu, she still has significant mental health and maturity issues, and a pat on the head isn't going to help her understand that her offering sex to older men to get what she wants is a problem.

The early story Yoshida would have kicked her out of bed and told her he'd never see her again if she ever did that again. All of that resolve seemed to fade as soon as Yoshida stopped acting like a parent and started seeing her as a potential lover.

So, what do you think Sayu's future is with Yoshida? Cooking, cleaning, and having sex with him until they grow old together in a 6 mat apartment? Is she going to get a real job or just remain a no-skill convenience store worker? Did she try to go to college? Is she going to have children with Yoshida even though she has socialization problems and nothing but horrible parental role-models in her life? What do you think her future looks like?

Sayu running back to Yoshida is a way for her to avoid facing those issues and growing as a person. That it ends with her still sitting under a street light waiting for Yoshida to rescue her shows that the characters never really went anywhere but art stuck in place, and that's really disappointing.

Man, Sayu was down bad for Yoshida lmao. Good ending, but I definitely think the show was at it's best in the beginning, the quality kinda went down halfway through, though the ending was definitely sweet. Her mother is still a bitch, but she at least won't mess with Sayu anymore.

Asami after getting over her gyaru phase looks really beautiful, honestly wouldn't mind getting an ova of Yoshida and Sayu's life after she came back. 7/10

I'm guessing there will be S2? Sayu was so into Yoshida maybe because she really feels good when she is with him. But she is very horny for a high schooler when she is alone with Yoshida, while Yoshida tries to act like a little bit father figure to her lol. Anyways, good show I am hoping I could read the manga tho

I really liked how they handled Yoshida's coming home and also their reenactment of that first encounter. Besides that... I don't know about this, lmao. One thing that really made no sense to me was Sayu staying with her mom even though her mom had not changed at all. She just said "don't get in trouble," but we know for a fact that her definition of "trouble" is very misconstrued. That is just not a healthy home environment, and they didn't even really have any healing. And then, of course, there's the whole potential grooming thing there... I'm glad the anime didn't go to full-blown pedophilia, but that is a very low bar to hurdle. The "age doesn't matter" bit by Sayu's brother and then Yoshida saying she had a chance once she was a member of society are both pretty crazy to include.

so 1) did the anime cover the end of the LN?
2) so Yoshida was in love with Sayu?
3) I assume he rejected Gotou as well?
4) how is the relationship between Sayu and her mother now?
5) what happened after the ending scene?

SPOILER TAG your replies please, thanks

Was the kind of slightly lame ending I expected.

All side characters abandoned, time skip, Sayu coming back and, most likely, begging Yoshida for sex, just to prove she's learned nothing.

Meanwhile, Yoshida continues cultivating his blue balls, while turning everyone down, and getting teary when Sayu leaves and when Sayu returns. This demonstrates what an altogether top guy he is.

Series started in an interesting way, posing some interesting questions but, sadly, couldn't sustain it past the first 2 or 3 episodes. Shame. It was OK but could have been a lot better.

Okay, totally did not have any expectations this episode.

For a episode finale, it is pretty good in my opinion. It calls back to the first episode when Yoshida and Sayu met. I loved that altho this is a romance anime, it only really hinted on the relationship between Yoshida and Sayu during this finale (there was, in a couple of episodes but i think both were trying to sort out their feelings then). Personally, after all these episodes, it doesn't sit right with me that they'd get together, with Sayu probably an adult now. I'd like to keep their father and daughter/brother and sister relationship forever in mind, but maybe I'd change my mind with the right portrayal if there is another season.

THOUGH i must say that I got disappointed when Sayu asked Yoshida one last time to have sex with her. I felt like she regressed, then, but I don't think that's exactly the case since I think it's meant to show that she's asking Yoshida to hint on her feelings for him (not just love, but also so that he won't forget her). Again, I'd rather have them in a non-romantic relationship.

Besides that bit, I suspected as much that there won't be as much character development for Sayu's mother, who was only officially introduced an episode ago. It is pretty realistic, though, so I can't argue that I hate it. At least she's accepted the situation, somehow, and may try to make amends with her daughter (they could/should since Sayu is staying for two or three yrs).

Basically this episode was an okay wrap up. I don't expect another season, it's fine without one already. I'm feeling 50/50 on lots of details, but overall I don't hate this finale.

the ending is pretty disappointing me basically this is recap of previous episode, the story writter only write for 12 episode but the producer planning this runs for 13 episode. I know little bit spoiler from manga/LN and the ending is still lame. I still don't know how this going from generic harem to romance then to soap opera-esque drama, pretty inconsistent.

So Sayu has become like her mother....Using sex to get what she wants.

She knows that now she's not a JK there's no reason why Yoshida wont sleep with her and once he does she'll have what she wants - a Father figure who loves her, will give her everything she wants and that she can wrap around her little finger.

Chad Yoshida becomes Sayu's simp.

It's become Usagi drop lite.

Yeah, it makes sense if I understood correctly what was implied by the ending. They care about each other and superficial things like age and taste in women are nothing compared to the emotional connection they acquired. And Sayu won't be a kid forever so Gotou-san screwed herself over right from the beginning, things like appearance weren't matter in the long run while connecting on a personal level is a very rare and valuable thing. At least, from what I saw Sayu and Yoshida were very convincing as a family already.

So Asami is part of Yoshida's harem and she was still waiting by the time Yoshida meet Sayu under the same spot. Logically speaking, Yoshida had crush for Gotou for 5 years and he clearly said that she's his type but that's all fading away just because he lived with a minor for only 6 months, not even touching her no nothing.

I don't think the relationship between Yoshida and Sayu is a romantic one, but more like brother-sister relationship and i kinda understand why Sayu likes older men because she doesn't has fatherly figure in her life, so at this point Sayu is just holding Yoshida back from getting a real relationship, i mean come on he's surroinded by many women even Gotou his crush said she likes him as well, those two should be end up together instead !

Also i am pretty sure the production budget was limited because the studio decided to cover half of the story with picture slides in the end.

It was a happy ending and all but it just ain't it for me, and i am totally agree that the finale was anticlimactic and underwhelming. But the show is enjoyable nonetheless

Overall score 7/10, i doubt there'll be a 2nd season though

After mercilessly destroying the characters except CHAD-YOSHIDA in the previous episode's forum, it's ironic that I pretty much enjoyed the ending after the first 5 minutes ofc.

Why after first 5 minutes ? Because the first five minutes were crap.
Yoshida made Sayu's mom realize that " Yeah, you are the only parent" and Sayu's mom is "Hmm Hmm, that settles it. Sayu is staying here". So basically it was just an irrational excuse to progress the plot towards its ending.

After that, it was all fluid and the last episode resembled much of the first episode's scenes due to which I got a liking to this anime so it was pretty good.

This was disheartening AF. Like seriously chad-yoshida has suffered a lot too.

It could have had some good positive response from the audience if we neglect how poorly sayu's past and the last few episodes had been presented. 6/10 for me at most.

Ah and I see some people are fussing about a second season because Sayu came back. It can't happen. Not even a OVA. Sayu came back just because she promised to meet Yoshida later. She has just came to meet her! I do not want a sequel now titled "I SHAVED AND MADE THAT TEENAGE GIRL A WOMAN"

DON'T FORGET, YOSHIDA IS THE REAL CHAD!!!!!

I've been really enjoying this shows lately. Tackling a mature issue, and the heartwarming chemistry really grabbed my attention. But unfortunately, the last six episodes hit me straight on the face about how dumb the plot behind it really was

So here's my thoughs, since this a wrap up:

I had an issue since the first episode (an issue that had keep teasing me to drop this series) First of all; A girl, that ran out from home for six month, with literally nothing but a school uniform and a small backpack that i believe can't carry a damn thing on it. So i assumed, ok maybe she's go out in a hurry, so she's forgot to pack any other clothes or wear any other appropriate outfit. But even for that small efforts to fill the plot holes, it feels so stupid to even think it would work. I mean, it's six month goddamit!, and she's got nothing but only a pair of outfit to wear, why the police didn't ever search or notice her in that range of time?, or the neighbour's atleast, maybe getting suspicious about an unknown underage girl that had been roaming around with the same school outfit, going in and out a guys apartment. To think of it, it actually so easy to track her out, if a police had notice and maybe try to approaches her for just once, they can easily tracked her down based on the uniform alone, and getting the information about a student that been missing for six month in her school. Is this supposed to represent how a police work on the big city in Japan? What a lazy attitude! (Or maybe, what a lazy writing!)

Second of all; is she didn't have any relatives around? I mean i get it from the first time that this had something to do with schoolgirl issue, so maybe she can't rely on any friends (or maybe she had no friends around). But again c'mon, it's been six month godamit! Even if she's had getting used or been enjoying this kind of behaviour, (offering her body) She must have a slight though about where's she's gonna go from the first time, or which person she's gonna see if it's come a day where she can't find any guy to take her home

So again, i take time and a small efforts to fill this plotholes. I assumed that she had a small family from far away. Maybe her family is poor so they didn't have any connection or relatives in the big city that this girl can rely on. And maybe her family it's also just a complete ignorant like she's been hinting, that didn't even ever try to search for her. So ok it's settle, with that mindset i can actually enjoyed this shows for a couple of episodes. But then episode 7 came out, and it feels like being punched so hard with a silly fact that her brother it's actually a CEO and president of a food company. Ok so i think again, maybe her brother didn't actually care for her, that way atleast this story doesn't seem too bullshit. But the next episodes come and uppercuted me once again to the floor. When she decided to run out from home (with a zero preparation), her brother had stopped her and even ask about her feeling, even drive her to the station, even give her 300.000¥ for accommodation and even tell her to call for him when she need anything. So when the half month of estimated passed, why didn't he try to search for her? When his one and only sister didn't give him any information, why didn't he filled a missing person report so that lazy polices on the big city can aware for her? Pushing that aside, from the very beginning, he should be the one who been keeping in touch with his sister, or atleast hire some guys from his company to keep an eye on her, maybe some bussines partner can accommodate her, or maybe, she can actually live with him for the meantime, or maybe he can rant her an apartment (if he is really that grown up man that lives with his mother). No. The author even try to cover this plotholes and try make the story seems believable by ditching Sayu's phone (told you, that damn backpack can't even carry a small charger)

So the question left are, is the brother actually care or not? Is he stupid or not? If he really that idiotic, then why the hell he can became a CEO of a goddamn company?

The next thing is, the backstory. With all that nonsense being going on about the family and the six month of prostitue, i keep reminding my self "Keep calm, the backstory can redeemed it, and it will hit you hard". Oh boy how wrong i am..

At first i think, we gonna got a full exposure to learn about the story, maybe the protagonist visited their home, and learn all about it, and eventually put in a closure to the cases. So maybe they gonna reserve atleast 2 episodes of Sayu (Highly-anticipated) backstory, to make us invested in it. But no.. The backstory only least about an half of an episodes. And they tell it, by being summed up by the girl herself. At first i think she's gonna have a hard time telling it, but she's seems pretty light and easy about it. To think they had been build up this moment since the first episode and executed it this cheap (by everyone keep saying "If you didn't wanna to tell it, it's okay" pfft)

The story of Sayu's friends didn't even added anything to the build up. What is the main reason she killed herself? Because she think she's being an obstacle to our main heroine?..wtf. I had enough with all this side's character that their whole purposes just to revolve around MC. Goto-san reject Yoshida, because she doubt it but actually love him. The girl from the office had a crush on him, the only other guy from the office, Hashimoto is Yoshida's friend, and nothing more useless than that. Sayu's girl friend from the department store is Hashimoto 2.0, the horny boy at the department store just to served as a stereotype of all the guy Sayu's been sleeping with (so we don't have to mention all of them one by one), and now the first friend that Sayu's have in the highschool, killed herself because she think she's not good enough for her shine? Atleast give them a life dammit!

Arriving at the last three episodes, everything just keep going downfall. At the eleventh, they almost run out of fuel, so basically the anime production needed ito over dramatized everything; The view on the plane windows, the sand clock at the cafe, the bleeding hand, even the wind blow on the rooftop of the school. I mean, did we really need to get those? Even the moment on the rooftop seems unnecessary. If they would explain Sayu's past there, that would have been a really good moment, but since we already know all about that, there's nothing new to gain

And the disaster is on the twelfth episode

Do you guys ever play a retro, RPG games who had no voice over? And the whole dialogue is on the board with a character picture displaying a single expression, and changed everytime if we clicked the action button (just like the conversation in Persona2&3 or maybe every Galge) That is the best way i can describe the whole conversation at the dinning table. Everyone just look so fucking stupid with their still expression with a mouth slightly open for no reason waiting for their turn to talk. At some point, Sayu is crying, but when Yoshida started to talk, she immediately look at him with a dummy still expression. The mother is always at the high pitch when she's talking, but when she's not talking, her face just went out straight for nor reason. The conversation even make it worse, each of every line feels like it being written by some 10years kid that had a booklet on their hands that say "How to be parents"

And the worse thing of all, is the Mother. I've never seen any character that being written so swallow like her. She's a temperamental lady in the suit six month ago when Sayu ran from home, and she's still a temperamental lady in the suit six month latter, there's no improvement on her character, there's no improvement on her speaking manner. Time feels like just stopped for her at that dinning table since 6 months ago. Her personification is just as a temperamental lady nothing more, there's not enough layer for her to be seen as a mom, there's not even enough layer for her to be seen as a human, she's as empty as a f*cking video games NPC. And in the end, she just keep saying "you can't understand my struggle", oh please.. then showed us her struggle's dammit!

So in the end, seems like all of Sayu's main problem and past, is just an excuse so the author can created an intriguing situation for her runaways story, and not the other way around

I didn't take this show seriously when I started watching it, but halfway through this show grew on me a lot. The ending is really good. The last episode hit really hard.
Also, is there going to be a season two? The text at the end was "Let me stay at your house next time". I think that the story is wrapped up pretty well and a season two wouldn't be necessary, but the words "next time" were used.

So I guess she is already 18 in the last scene?

Her mom said she would be held back a year, so Sayu would be 19.

An ending that was to be expected. Sayu was able to live with her mom until graduation, until she can see Yoshida again.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't like this show. I think the fact that it focuses on an older character is the first thing that jumps out to me, followed by its more mature premise. I found myself looking forward to this every week.

I think this had potential to go much further, but there were a couple of things that really kept it from going the distance. The first is the underdeveloped backstory of Sayu and her Mother. Because this wasn't as nearly fleshed out as it should have been, there wasn't much of an emotional impact in these last few episodes. Sayu's Mom really needed her backstory explained, because she came off as so unbelievable in her anger. I also think the whole suicide story was half baked. It just didn't compel me like it should have, considering it's one of the main reasons this story even exists.

The situation with the mother was solved a little too easily, and I wish that Saku was able to reconcile with her. Show her that she was worth being born, and to help the mother get over the fact that the father left. But this was just left hanging with no real conclusion.

I think it's a shame this more or less abandoned Yoshida's own story of finding his own love. Obviously, in the end it turned out to be Sayu. But the thing is, I was kind of hoping it would still be the boss lady. Because I think the Yoshida/Sayu route would be too obvious.

Instead, it should have been that their meeting changed both of their lives for the better, Yoshida was able to grow up and realize the importance of caring for someone else, while Sayu was able to come to her senses, care about her own well being, and get back to school. And they both stay good friends. It's not that I'm against them being together like some of the people on here who are going on psychotic tirades, but I think it was too predictable.

Yoshida for me is a bit of a mixed bag. He was more or less perfect, but he still had the decency not to get into certain situations with Sayu. Not that I mind that kind of stuff, but this presented itself as a serious story with heavy themes, so that kind of stuff would've felt out of place.

But I think the mature and serious premise that this had was not fully utilized, but it was still compelling in some ways. I think it's endearing nature is what drew me in. Is it deserving of its some of the seething reviews that it's received? Definitely not, but this is by no means a great show. Slightly above average with some interesting elements that helps set it apart.

Feels like a really safe ending, just popping her back there and have the MC go on a rant. You'd think there'd at least be 1 episode of tension with the family after or something.
I'm not a lolicon, you're just projecting your tendency to lewd 2D characters.

If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.
