Steins Gate, Fmab and many others are also better in dub.I prefer dubs for action shows but I would suggest checking out both before starting a new show. Some are better in dub, some in subs.

although I'd argue that shows like Black Lagoon and Baccano are more fitting than the subbed version

maybe you are right but dub just takes away the essence of anime.

No dub is better than sub. That said, death note is the best dub that i've watched.

I would say that Dragon Ball Z/Super had pretty good dubs. I don't think My Hero is that bad either.

the essence huh? I suppose I understand your meaning its like when your translating fate novels to english basically a lot of the meaning in the original language is just impossible to adapt to english a lot of the meaning gets taken away but that often goes for subs as well when translating japanese to english theirs always bounds to be a loss of essence

although I would argue that shows that have a heavy emphasis on western settings like Black Lagoon sort of needs to be and in fact it enriches the show this goes for shoes where the setting of the story includes a lot of rich accents were simply Japanese voice acting is present doesn't do the show justice

this also extends to shows with a western genre or setting like Baccano and Trigun though that might be arguable that it doesn't matter if theirs a western setting

Death Note and Black Lagoon have really good dubs as far as I remember.
The English voice for Revy is just Revy for me, the JP voice sounds strange to me.

Lupin III, Space Dandy both have pretty great dubs. Space Dandy's dub was actually created at the same time as the sub and got released 30 minutes before the japan release, and it made music actually sound right when dubbed to english.

Death Note. Luckily I watched Death Note when I first started getting into anime and I only watched dubbed back then. I don't think I'd care for L the same way if I watched it in sub tbh

Great Teacher Onizuka was amazing

High School DxD dup infinitely more funnier and better than the original sub. It is the only reason why I watched all the seasons multiple times.

Black Butler. The accents are nice

Baccano. Same reason as above and also has fantastic acting

Assassination Classroom. Sonny Strait as Koro sensei is a dream come true.

Code Geass. Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch was top tier. Everyone did have a great voice.

Kill la Kill. Just fun

Maken-Ki. I don't want a female to voice a male in an ecchi anime. Ian Sinclair for the win

Almost everything from 2000 to 2010 and most of the 90s is great. The slayers, evangellion, code Geass, FMAB, outlaw star, shall I go on lol?.

My favourite dubs are probably 'Shuffle!' and 'Full metal panic' off the top of my head.

Oh and one that everyone seems to forget is the 'those who hunt elves" dub which is sometimes akin to the school days dub but came out years in advance.

Enjoy.

Not one mention of BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad? Sad times.

The dub is so vastly superior to the sub that it's almost comical.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

The best dub is Baccano! due to how perfectly the voice acting fits the era and location.

Cowboy Bebop, FMA:B, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, and Violet Evergarden all have good dubs.

Ghost Stories has a(n) (in)famous dub.

Tokyo Ghoul was actually really good with the voice acting Kaneki's voice actor was really amazing albeit hearing it in english was edgy as hell but it was really good

especially his first fight with nishiki

maybe you are right but dub just takes away the essence of anime.

unless you know japanese and all the small details, then even sub is going to take away the essence, even more sometimes because a lot of anime are visual in nature and reading gets in the way of that. There's also a big difference when you read something vs when you listen to it.

so yea, learn japanese or stay a wannaweeb

OG dragonball and gurren lagann were made for dub. Most shows I would argue are better in sub for optimal immersion. A true masterpiece deserves all of your attention unless you're low iq and can't be immersed regardless of what you do.
