was thinking this is last episode in which case i would've thought it was awful because it spent so much time on Michiru and we be left with some silly cliffhanger mid way though the murder episode was totally fine i'm all for character development but to no ones surprise honestly no one should be shocked shes still alive and the kill count was some made up shit but now that Nana has some serious doubt will she still be able to kill?, most likely with her nazi looking ass teacher coming to inspect and wind girl is still prime suspect since not much has pointed towards someone else other than them being a animal killer also not sure what places commonly use acetaminophen as the main term but not in Canada in my 20+ years you just say Tylenol lol but again don't know what the Japanese wording used for it could've been |

WHOOOW!!! We have some twist in this one. after hearing MIchiru's backstory, did Nana realized something about those kill counys? Is Jin correct when he say that those Kill counts are just random numbers? im excited for this final episode already (next week) |

Seeing it animated and her breakdown at the prospect of having to kill Michiru.. powerful. Great episode as usual. Sad we only got one more left now if only we can get a season 2 so people can see more of the good stuff. (though with how this season is ending, most people will probably jump to the manga) |

I love how the anime was pv'd as some kind of shoujo romance story and who would have thought yuri route will be canon! the green haired guy seemed to be the winner of nana ball, but that plot point was DROPPED so to speak then kyoya seemed to be the winner what's with all that sex tension between him and nana, but naaah yuri won about that spoiler, anime onlys don't read... we didn't see what body was in the bag, moe just assumed it's michiru, also im pretty sure tsuruoka is nana's older brother |

Really great episode, I think Nana is a legitimately good person. She's just being manipulated by the government and her mentor. But, now she's realizing how bullshit everything is especially the kill count. Michiru's backstory was sad :(, what a great backstory. We don't deserve Michiru, she's too pure for this world. Looking forward to the last episode, hopefully there's also a season 2 announcement. Though I don't think the manga has enough chapters for another season. |

Well, Michiru didn't died, and that sucks. Sure her story is heartwarming and all but that doesn't change the fact she is really dumb, I really hope her character develops more, to the point to at least user her brain lol Anyway, this episode has been the best so far, why? Because we got to see Nana laughting and having fun like a normal girl, and that was just too precious to ignore, killer or not, protagonist or not, she is best girl xD |

Many people may not have noticed, but the scene where Kyouya was investigating in front of the window from outside, and the scene where Nana stepped on shogi piece while leaving Michiru's room will have much more meaning in the future ep then you may think at first. |

So, it's confirmed that Nana can't kill Michiru. Michiru's past about Hitomi made me tear up... The Government itself is so sus after all. Nana will break after she learns the probable truth. Jun knows the killer then... Next episode is the final, excited to see how they plan to wrap it up. |

Nana was a good person from the start , She didn't do all of this of her own will and I think this should be known . That's why it was not weird at all to see her happy and having fun with Michiru and getting pissed off when she saw the kill count for Michiru . She's a kind character but shitty people manipulated her unfortunately . Great episode and really hyped for the finale . |

This is why I am angry. They give us sentimental trash and expect us to just accept it. "Character development". Do you know how stupid that sounds? This girl kills 6 people and she just decides to stop because this inhumanly innocent puppy dog trope of a character "softens the heart of the hardened serial killer". Michiru is not a realistic nor interesting character and neither is Nana. I don't find this contrived, predictable garbage entertaining. Lemme guess, Michiru is going to die from using her powers on Nana when she is on the brink of death and Nana is going to direct all of her anger toward the "real enemy"... "the shadow government" who will somehow be even more 2 dimensional than Michiru. Who's to stop the shadow government from just stumbling across a Michiru and "becoming good". Crap like this is for 3 year olds. Then I am suppose to act like I am sad for Michiru and proud that Nana has decided to "become good" because simply not killing people makes you a good person. Get out of here with this nonsense. |

I saw where the show was going in regards to them attempting to redeem Nana a while back. In fact, I have been on this message board for the past 4 or 5 episodes discussing this very topic. My issue with how they are handling Nana is not that they are attempting to redeem her but that it isn't effective. It makes no sense. They are linking Nana's "redemption" to cheap sentimentality instead of reason. So if we are going to assume that Michiru being nice to Nana is what causes Nana to reconsider her actions, we'd also have to assume that no talented person was ever kind to her until now. Which is verifiably untrue. In fact, many students in the school admire her even if it is based on a false pretense. Michiru also knows nothing about Nana, so her admirations are no more valuable or real than any of the other students. This leaves the last minute "I had a friend with cancer, so that is why I am so altruistic" flashback plot point which serves to make the audience sentimental and forget to think about the story rationally. Why should it matter why Michiru is a nice person? This changes nothing for Nana. |

On a slightly different subject, I am also curious to hear your thoughts on this. The whole "potential kill count" thing. In my opinion, the idea that the number is arbitrary is dumb. It shouldn't matter if based on your abilities you could potentially be more dangerous or not. In fact, it means even more that someone's powers could be dangerous but they choose to be a good person. Think about it. A person who's abilities is necromancy is, you guess it, a terrible person. A person who's abilities is healing people is a good person and ultimately makes Nana reconsider her stance. I believe this narrative could have the opposite effect of what they are intending. The idea the number is arbitrary is not so much supported by the show itself as it is the general discussion around the show. Just because Nana is choosing to ignore the kill count messages she has been getting doesn't mean she doesn't believe that they could potentially be true. Rather, she just doesn't care. Curious to hear your thought. |

Ultimately, how they follow up this season will reflect even more strongly in the direction they are choosing to take the show. Thing is, I really don't like Nana as a character. I liked the idea of a villainous character attempting to carry out their twisted ideology until they had to confront the error of their ways. A commentary if you will. The way the show is going now, it doesn't feel like Nana is really any worse than any other character. Which totally goes against what hooked me in the beginning. Now it is just another show about how a nice person made a hardened person feel bad about being hardened. Which I suppose is fine, but it certainly isn't special and it isn't really done in a terribly interesting way. |

Now it is just another show about how a nice person made a hardened person feel bad about being hardened. Which I suppose is fine, but it certainly isn't special and it isn't really done in a terribly interesting way. Some stories tend to get more "normal" and "stereotypical" as they go on, and often these changes occur well after the material covered by their single-coeur anime adaptations. It's not always a bad thing, though. for example Watamote (Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!). Its first seven volumes were about a girl with crippling social anxiety who was chronically incapable of forming positive social relationships with her classmates. This was pretty out-of-the-ordinary stuff for anime at the time (most shows about "characters who have trouble making friends" typically devolved pretty quickly into shows about "characters who are oblivious about everyone having a crush on them"). Today, Watamote is arguably one of most consistently bes written high school harem comedies. However, the anime adaptation only covered the story's first four volumes... which, when viewed in isolation, could very easily be interpreted as a direct defiance of the same anime tropes and stereotypes that it now pulls off so well. Anyway I think the shift in direction in Munou nana was a good move. The story had been growing stale (even the innovation can become obsolete) until Nana received a so lot character development. Then a few mysteries were unraveled and the story went in a fresh direction that revitalized it. |

Now it is just another show about how a nice person made a hardened person feel bad about being hardened. Which I suppose is fine, but it certainly isn't special and it isn't really done in a terribly interesting way. I think you are kinda missing the point of Nana's character. She wasn't ever truly evil and her intent isn't revenge as well, yea she behaved villainny, but for a reason. After her parents died she was raised believing that Talented are killing monsters killing innocent people like her mom and dad were. She believes by killing them she will save innocent people, that's why she keeps looking at her phone. Minor In next episode there should be also mentioned, that she is donating money to a people who lost their relatives to Talented. It's not that she started to change just because she met a nice person, but it's her backstory that moved her. Michiru spend her time before coming to the island helping and saving people she didn't know, but was powerless when she wanted to save a person she cared about, and she carried on with healings on even though she know her ability could kill her one day. Similar thing goes to Nana she is risking her life on that island, believing her actions will save people. It's that self-sacriface trait they both share in bit different yet same way, that realization is what moved her not just her being nice. The show doesn't try redeem her(not yet), but more like putting seed of doubt in her and try to feel some possitive emotions again. About the kill counts. I believe individual mental profiles were not taken in considiration when the numbers were made (exept Nanao who had a biggest potential of becoming their leader), those numbers are done on much more simple basis, logically someone who can throw fireballs will have more potential kills then someone who can just mimic others voices. When comes to the mental condisions of certain individuals it realy depends how much of a bad influence their powers had during their childhood, how much were they poisoned by their own powers. But honestly these numbers are only there to keep reminding Nana her goal and to support her belief after her parents died. About your story prediction Yea that pretty much what's gonna happen the tittle of the next ep kinda gave it away, but her change isn't that instant she will start having doubts and confronts her mentor about legitimacy of kill counts, but he will convince her to carry on with her mission, but her development will still be there and she will change her aproach in the future events. |

Have to disagree there. Whilst she was motivated by the death of her parents (although I wouldn't say that's a saving grace either), she was truly evil, and not at all caring about how her victims died - or how painfully either. Just wanted to wipe everyone mercilessly, no matter what or who gets in the way. |

So it seems there is another person, the guy who is killing the cats and probably killed that guy. This whole episode was so fantastic, finally a Nana x Michiru episode! In the end, she couldn't help herself and took care of her. And i guess the guy that's coming is really bad news. This was a really good episode, and that ending! Oh boy, after 12 episodes i guess she finally realized that she killed innocent people. So judging by the last episode's name, Nana will confess. |

glad that Michiru survived and her story was cute, now Nana has second thoughts about killing her. I still have my doubts about this whole thing, Nana could also be a Telented and the organisation is using her to kill the kids on the island, that phone may not be that real and she's crazy and she sees all those numbers, imagine a crazy conspiracy theorist, kinda like that. |

This episode make me wonder. The higher-ups from that island was Nana's organization. Which mean that organization is controlling the island. Which also mean that organization was the one who invited them to the island in the first place. So why make the hassle of sending Nana to kill them off one by one. I mean those super power are basically a bird in a cage, killing them off all at once was super easy, and they could also make public by saying it was a war like 5 years ago as told by Tachibana. Also, one of the easiest killing would be poisoning all those foods in Cafeteria since it is the ONLY place to eat and everyone goes there. Seriously tho, why the hassle? For the sake of plot? -facepalm- -- Then there is Michiru flaskback, she has been using his power for awhile and everyone know, it should mean that people with super power aren't forced to go to that island otherwise the island would be overflooded with people. Regular people also don't seen to afraid of them at all. Which should also mean that they are countless of super power people out there, why would Tachibana says like the island was the only survivor left that he has to go back there to avoid the public? With his wits, he could easily round up those people outside the island and easily form a rebel against the Organization. This show so far tried so hard to keep explaining the logic behind each cases but at the same thing exposing so much flaws. This is contradicting, I really hope it is explained later but seeing it is episode 12 I won't get to see it. -- Well, at the very least I can finally see Nana doubting the kill count thingy. She should have noticed it during Tsunekichi case. |

It's also mentioned in the manga, that they actually did bomb the island before and sent the troops to clear up the rest and simply said to their relatives that they died in war, but they made already too much noise, which is why they had to switch to a different strategy. Poisoning the food is not a bad idea, but some Talented can be immune or immortal like Kyouya, if it would got out then Talented would figure out that army's trying to kill them and some Talented can fly away or TP out of the island to spread the info to general public. While in Nana's case they can just assume that she's EoH and that there can be more among them. aLotQuestion_ said: Then there is Michiru flaskback, she has been using his power for awhile and everyone know, it should mean that people with super power aren't forced to go to that island otherwise the island would be overflooded with people. Talenteds are minority. General public believes in this war with aliens and Talented are praised, they are simply motivated to go there i also believe that some of them are in some ways forced to go there. It's mentioned later on that there are some individuals like Jin that are escaping the army's clutches. But since it's only a small number they don't pose no threat to the army. Jin didn't know that it's the army that conspires against them. He has no contacts outside, also after the civil war he survived he is also convinced that Talented are bad. aLotQuestion_ said: Well, at the very least I can finally see Nana doubting the kill count thingy. She should have noticed it during Tsunekichi case. Quite the contrary, individuals like Tsunekichi and Yuuka only strengthened her belief that Talented are evil. She did question their true nature before, but she is still determined to finish the mission. The kill counts serves only as a cross to her, to remind her she is doing the right thing, nothing else. |

Was a really awesome episode, rewatching the season in dub now that Funi released the full season dub (I think subbed was handled better, but the dub is cool too) and I’m being reminded why I loved this season so much the first time, and it wasn’t just because of the among us hype. Nana’s character and her development is so great in this season and this episode in particular, she really stands out as a protagonist and the effect michiru has is so real and can be felt through the screen. This show is honestly so underrated. The animation I feel is lacking but in terms of story development and direction and writing, this series is so UNDERRATED 5/5 episode Here’s to a hopeful return with a S2 |
