It's my first time to see this website and thought I'd share this here. I won't disclose my real name of course, but this is my result

Forename - only 95 of the people worldwide shares the same name, all of them from my country (Philippines)
Surname - over 1.2m global occurrence. The name originated in Burgos, Spain which is not where I am from, but really not that unexpected since we were colonized by Spain for many years

Also they have massive public resources which I find interesting https://forebears.io/resources . I work with large datasets but never learned programming so I'm not sure how they plugged all these resources in

It's really interesting that the numbers are very close together because they originate from different countries.

I have two surnames and I remember contributing the etymology of both of them to forebears.io many years ago but it isn't approved yet. The first is found in 491 males and 269 females and the other in 8179 males and 1650 females. Greek surnames have different forms for males and females although the statistics aren't 100% accurate because for example greek american women tend to have male surnames and some greek men in former soviet republics are registered with the female surname. My first surname is mostly found in the region of thessaly and the second is a very common pontic greek surname found all over greece due to pontic greeks being relocated in the early 20th century. According to forebears it is also common in uzbekistan, I suspect due to soviet relocations.
The exact form of my first name is shared among around 100 thousand people mostly in greece and cyprus although after looking up some variants of the name it seems that more than 2 million people share that name.

Forename - 30,831, mostly in Croatia, a neighbour country. It has Hebrew origin tho.

Surname - 67. I'm not even kidding here - my surname is extremely rare and all people who have it are relatives. It has Slavic origin.

Btw, I'm the only person with this combination of forename and surname. It always made me feel kinda special, although it's nothing really impressing.

132k for the name, 45k for the surname. I could swear my name was rarer than the surname, I guess my life was a lie all along. This won't be a problem when I legally change my name to Sars-CøV-2.

My given name is a very widespread and popular name, so it's natural for it to land in the top 50
About 9.5 million people share that name

My family name on the other hand is much less common and less than 200 people are indexed of which surprisingly it is listed there as most prevalent in Paraguay, but I can't recall any relatives in South America

Most greek female surnames are just the male surname in the genitive case (Papadópoulos (m), Papadopoúlou (f)). Male surnames that are in the genitive case like Andreou for example are the same for both male and female.
EDIT: greek isn't the only language that has separate forms for gender. Most slavic and some irish surnames also have different gendered forms. Icelandic patronymics also do that.

There are more than 3 with that last name, but we are all related.
Story behind it (as far as I know): That part of the family was Russian German and when they came back to Germany the officials made a spelling error in the name and it was never changed.

Yes although it didn't actually fall out of tradition. It's more of a local thing. In certain areas like Cyprus they form surnames for both genders by taking first names and putting them in the genitive case. The prominent Papandreou family in greece for example has a gender neutral surname that's formed this way.
