| Shiki is probably the best horror anime out there. Parasyte as well. Those two had an actually good plot to go with the horror/gore, unlike something like Corpse Party which was just bloody. |

| Generally, I'm not a big fan of this type of anime, so it's not the sub-genre that I watched the most. Some animes like Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu, for example, I haven't watched it yet (and I intend to see it in the future), so I won't be able to give my opinion. However, if I had to choose some of those I've seen, I think Shingeki no Kyojin and Made in Abyss (although the latter is not specifically from Horror or Gore) do incredible things involving gore and horror within the narrative. Yakusoku at Neverland also deserves mention for the horror, the suspense itself, but it's not as gore as the others that people are quoting, so I don't know if it fits the topic. Also, in my opinion, BTOOOM! it also has great merit within this genre, since it uses the gore and scenes of great traumas of the characters to provide a reflection on people in their states of nature, the return to barbarism and the wildness within the Battle Royale that builds. The first season of Tokyo Ghoul also does this well, in a way, by exploring the protagonist's clash with the Ghouls' underworld and the question of his new reality, the gradual transformation of personality, etc. |

| Higurashi and Bererk are gorey as well as have a very good storyline. Also Uzumaki manga is a great horror and getting an anime adaptation as well. |

| Angels of Death (Satsuriku No Tenshi) is obviously my baby...but it doesn't have that much gore. xD It also likes to be funny instead of scary so I cannot call it 'straight up horror' because it isn't. One series NOBODY F*CKING TALKS ABOUT? Night Walker. You will like it. Vampires. Lots of monsters. Lots of gore. Lots of blood and death. But also really good characters. And it's older so that gritty look really works for horror anime. |

| Perfect Blue is the only horror anime which scared me only because it takes the psychological route.Most of horror like Corpse Party & Yami Shibai fail hard for trying way too much and relying on jump scares and gore.It's coming from a guy who sleeps with lights on.I am some of a scaredy cat myself. |

| I don't watch much gore/horror anime, but here's what I think are the best anime from that genre: 1. Another 2. Serial Experiment Lain 3. Corpse Party: Tortured Souls (Twisted as ****, so what it on your own accord.) 4. Hellsing Ultimate 5. Blood-C 6. Elfen Lied (More gore than horror though) 7. When they cry (Higurashi no naku koro ni) - (Again, Gore instead of Horror, The story is pretty messed up though.) 8. Boogiepop Phantom 9. Devilman Crybaby 10. The flowers of evil |

| Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni is a really good horror. I'd also recommend Devilman Crybaby. If you are interested in something like Mirai Nikki, I'd recommend Madoka Magica, Promised Neverland, and Erased. I don't really consider them horror but I'd recommend them if you liked Mirai Nikki since they are in the same genre. |
| For me, it's the three-episode "Bake Neko" arc that closes the anthology series Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales. That story spawned the Mononoke series, but I still think the original "Bake Neko" is the best of all the medicine-seller tales. |

| Not sure why genocyber hasnt been mentioned, its a cyberpunk but definitely has strong horror elements and id be interested if anyone could point to an anime with gore and body horror as vivid and extreme as genocyber |
