To me, meeting one group of girls and then having the main girl switch into a whole new group about 1/3 through the show sounds like a TERRIBLE idea for what will almost certainly be a 1-cour-only series. |

| Yeah I couldn't care less about how much they are deviated from the original LN plot. I'm enjoying what it is now and I'm never gonna read the LN so hah. Take that LN nerds. I'm enjoying the bad adaptation of the story you like. But yeah now that I think about it the plot doesn't make sense. Like how did she not realize how overpowered she is until the events of ep 1? You figure she would have pieces that one together a while ago. Oh well I'm not exactly into this show for the story so I don't mind overlooking something like that. But I guess if you're looking for reasons to be mad at it there are some pretty glaring ones. |
| Also tbh reading this description of the show and seeing how the characters really want to learn Mile's secrets in the show. I definitely anticipate more than 15 seconds dedicated to her backstory. Hopefully it's not too dramatic. Changing the order of events in an adaptation isn't always a bad thing. The anime for Gakkou Gurashi had Mii-kun from the beginning and showed how she joined later in a flashback episode. That worked fine. If they dedicate an episode to Mile being candid and telling about her old party then that will sate my curiousity at least. |

| Afterschool Dice Club committed the sin of attempting to get sappy and emotional with characters we've known for all of an hour. The game selected was almost a perfect opportunity to showcase Miki's personality or lack thereof, an outstanding choice. The educational part of the show is done so well but the characters are just really blah outside of Aya. | I wasn't sure about Dice Club but I liked it much more this week than the first two. If the dude is around a lot it'll be one of those rare nCGDCT with a useless side boy like Chu-Bra. Rydae "reviewed" the episode on Funimation: My fave type of girl. HAHAHA, Mad Dog Kyoko, luv it. Tough girls like her are my faves. Just like Uotani from Fruits Basket or Saki from Zombieland Saga. There's just somethin about ex-ganger anime girls with a heart of gold that really makes me happy. XD And none of these are a main character in a small group, but they should be, I want more. I wanted to marry my Belfast, but she maintains the maid/master relationship even in her oath skin and that makes me uncomfortable.... Even range archery is better to watch, since you get to see the archer pull and release the string, and watch the arrow fly. Episode 2 actually devoted chunks of time to letting the girls play an entirely different sport. From this, it doesn't sound like the show's Japan is the real Japan, but rather a future the show wants to help create. | I'm slowly accepting that Noukin just... isn't good? Mile doing the moe-moe kyun was certainly above average though. So I checked in on Z/X and it's basically "we took all the lolis from the main show and gave them a spinoff to make dumb faces and occasionally mention the overarching plot" and that's a good call. Don't know how serious this will get in time but it hasn't been as serious as Crimson Reina threatening to melt a guy into a puddle of goo yet. I guess it's a distant sequel to the original show that was more faithful to the story behind the card game I dunno, but basically in this one regular girls get paired with the titular Z/X who come from time/space rifts and are for the most part also cute girls but not quite human and they... do stuff and make dumb faces, I guess. Lots of cute girls but no high tier mega qts unfortunately. Rifle is Beautiful having the problem of a kind of generic cast (with only four girls grrrr) is mitigated by already visiting a second school with a couple of memorable girls in it, like cool club prez and kinda zannen first year. I hope they never find out about Hikari's hidden talents, it could be a game-changer. Kandagawa Jet Girls has had way more jet racing than I would have expected after the first episode, they're actually integrating the fanservice into the show pretty well at those points. Not even Winter 2018 comes close :D Even within "Dice" Club, after episodes 1 and 2 I wanted to drop it, but I liked episodes 3 and 4, while Bajar liked it more at first than later. I agree the rifle rival school girls are better than the main cast, though that's a low bar. Sora Yori and After the Rain I both have at 10. Then on top of that you have Yuru Camp, Mitsuboshi Colors, Hakumei to Mikochi, Slow Start, and Takunomi. I even got enjoyment out of shows like Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san, Pop Team Epic, and the definitely not CGDCT thriller Kokkoku. Man this current season has nothing on that one. Those were the golden days. Funny how Yuru Camp is one of the most beloved CGDCT but was only my 3rd favourite of that season. I guess it was similar for you. You have it as above average but clearly had another favourite that season. |

I would have rated Yuru Camp a whole point higher if it had been a 6-episode ova - I thought it was great at first, but sometime around the middle I simply got tired of watching Rin drive around by herself and deadpan-react to goofy texts from Nadeshiko. I guess Slow Start and Re-Kan should be the next backlog CGDCT I watch. |

| ‘Azur Lane’ Anime Staff Fails to Pull Episode 7 https://www.animemaru.com/azur-lane-anime-staff-fails-to-pull-episode-7/ Bibury Animation Studios put out a press release yesterday that they were delaying episode 7 of Azur Lane due to the fact they had been unable to pull a single version of episode 7. “People may think we call Azur Lane a gatcha anime because it’s adapted from a gatcha game, but we actually mean it far more literally,” director Tanaka Motoki told the media. “All of the show’s episodes actually come from a gacha game called Azur Lanimation. Each week there’s a new event where the next episode of the show is made available, and we try to pull the newest episode.” Unfortunately, staff at Bibury were unable to pull any copies of episode 7 before the week’s event expired, and has therefore cancelled episode 7 entirely. The staff has stated that they will hopefully be able to pull episode 8 in time for next week’s broadcast. “We spent over 80,000 yen on pulls, but we just kept getting repeats of episode 1 and 3 without a single episode 7. Since we ended up missing the boat (no pun intended) on the episode 7 event, we’ll just have to go without for now. Hopefully they run the event again in a year and we can show you episode 7 then.” Bilbury also apologized for the low animation quality of previous episodes, saying they were only barely able to pull C-ranks for episodes 5 and 6. Re: chat, well I mean unless your story is about Gandhi or something. If it's about a band of adventurers in a world full of amoral murderers, I don't see any way that goes well. Come to think of it, the strongest warrior in Vinland Saga (I'm still reading the manga, haven't started the show) decided that "a true warrior needs no sword." Characters are clearly taking this too literally when they assume he means barehanded fighting, but he is conveniently strong enough to easily knock enemies out of action barehanded, without killing any of them. (He and certain others' extreme capability in battle strains suspension of disbelief, in what's meant to be a real-world setting.) But at the Faroe Islands, if he had killed the berserker Bjorn instead of temporarily knocking him out, Bjorn wouldn't have been able to take his son hostage. In Noukin, Mile is an absurdly overpowered isekai protagonist, which makes the setting unfair for serious discussion of whether killing is necessary. It's easy for any writer to keep their characters safely out of any situations in which the clear best solution would be to kill, so that he/she can pretend they're making a case for nonviolence, when actually it's a contrived fantasy with no meaning or bearing on that real-world moral question. I still like Noukin overall, I just take issue with it doing that. If it were to pull the "If you kill him, you're no better than him" line like Steins;Gate 0 did, then I'd be really triggered.  In retrospect, actual worst to best would be Xenoglossia < Cinderella Girls = Symphogear < Idolmaster < AKB0048 < Love Live, I skipped Skip Beat and Locodol until later. Started Aikatsu a year ago and watched five episodes so far, I'm pretty sure I'd prefer watching Futari wa Pretty Cure. |

| I'm having a great Sunday morning so far. Was treated to the best Precure episode of the last 3 years and then a tremendous Rifle episode, probably the best one so far. Now I just need the Bills to win for this to be one of the best Sundays ever. |

| Concur with Bajar that this was the best rifle episode so far and moves it from a borderline 7 to solidly in there if I ever remember to update my lists. Lots of quick gags that didn't feel stilted, natural cast interactions, more bullying of the first-years, terrific episode. And just in time too, since we know that saikoro club is dropping the 1-2 punch of blonde foreigner and maids on me this week, an almost unstoppable combination that... what if they combine them? Noukin much better this week though they really need to stop with the 40 year old references.  |

| Sort of, it's not an event I've played but Dark Enterprise / Alterprise was a thing in the game. See "The Key" here https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/ Seems like the Siren stuff in the game's writing is always a big ball of ~~~ooooooh isn't this dark and complex and mysteeeeeerious and soooo saaaaad~~~~ Akagi wanting to get mama Amagi back was never her motivation to side with Sirens in the game, as far as I know, though she'd certainly like to and it makes more sense than just being the Saruman. Some fans are still hoping the story will actually follow the game after this but I don't see why, and I hope it stays its own thing. I was hoping Enty would stay "possessed" and be everyone's main enemy for the next few episodes, hehe. That would make a nice change. I'm really tired of watching the girls fight each other just because Akagi says so. I wanted to see Midori be all reluctant to put the outfit on but they just cut to her already wearing it :/ |
