Why is it that as times go by, new seasons come and I find it harder to find a good interesting anime to watch? I have been watching anime for nearly ten years now. My tastes have changed so much that I don't seem to find any new anime matching it. This season for example, only anime that sort of seems interesting to me is Vinland Saga. Is the anime world over for me... :(

Why would you restrict yourself to watch only stuff that's currently airing?

I am always watching old shows that are good. But even those are running out. Currently I am watching Gintama, loving it.

I think that last year has been a bit weak, but I still think that there should be many older shows that you can enjoy. Although for me taking time off anime sometimes help recharge my drive to watch it. So maybe that's what you should do.

you've not watched a massive number of different animes, so there's still plenty of good stuff left for you to watch. don't restrict yourself to the currently airing shows either, seeing as there's been a lot of weak shows in the last few seasons.

but if you've been watching anime for the last ten years, you may just be burnt out. why not stop watching anime for a month or so and see if you miss it?

It's a bit difficult to recommend, discuss or spread awareness of potentially interesting stuff to you when there's a nice "Access to this list has been restricted by the owner" in your profile.

Monster
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Mushishi
Shinsekai Yori
Berserk 1997
Mononoke
Revolutionary girl utena
Wolf Children
Jin rou
Any Satoshi Kon movie

If you read manga then try these

That's what I need to do. I have watched a few old classics though. They actually caused my expectation go up too much. Modern moe, isekai feels too cliche and uninteresting to me now. Maybe be its because I am in my twenties or something like that. Now a days I barely find any anime that gives excitement like death note, LOGH, soul eater or stuffs like that.

I have watched nearly all of them actually. I barely read any manga or comics though. Thanks.

Uhh, I've been at your stage, everyone has, the truth is, there are hundreds and hundreds of good shows that you haven't watched yet. Bakuman, Kenpuu Denki Berserk, Hajime no Ippo, Nana, Nodame Cantabile, and many many more, just to name a few.

Try watching everything on this video, I'm doing that right now, and it's worth it.

Just to make it clear,I know that there are certainly tons of good shows out there. However not all of them are attractive to me. For example, I always skip sports, music, isekai animes no matter how popular they are. These genres just don't fit with me.

Do you mean live action anime movies? If you mean live action movies in general then that's a strange thing to say because live actions movies are older and have a far larger pull than anime, and thus have a wider variety of good picks available.

Not sure what tastes you have but I am sure there are probably a lot of shows that you would like. Maybe you are just tired, I stopped watching anime for more than two years and then got back on it.

You've already watched Monster, Paranoia Agent, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Mushishi, Ergo Proxy...

But wait a second, where are Madoka Magica and Princess Tutu? You just don't like magical girl? But besides that you and I are basically on the same page, we even like most of the same shows. Maybe Eureka Seven would do, but i can guarantee anything.

My fav genres are psychological thriller and mystery. Animes that have suspense, good engaging "non-cliche" story attracts me. I rarely watch shows that are mecha, magical girl, isekai, sports, music and harem.
Thanks.

First off, watch S;G 0 since you liked the original so much! Also Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Given your tastes, it seems right up your alley despite it being Magical Girl, just be sure to give it the 3 episode test and avoid looking up info because it is easy to spoil yourself.

I watched steins gate 0 for a few episodes then put it on hold. Its not even near the level of the original. As for madoka magica, I will try it out.

"is the anime world over for me" first off stop being over dramatic there's still thousands of series you'll never watch every single one of them in your life time. second, you have literally 38 series in your PTW list i suggest you focus on reducing your list first. also i think you might be burned-out taking breaks from curtain things also helps.

i recommend Ashita no Joe after episode 54 jump to the second season everything from episode 55 onwards gets re-adapted into the second season. series and story

The fcuk you are complaining about when we have this airing this season?! As long as Japan produces stuff like above I am never giving up on anime!

Just get out of your fcuking comfort zone and try different stuff. It's anime like Vinland Saga that ruins my anime experience so I have stopped watching anime like that.

I am done with anime that has a glaring "GO READ THE MANGA BECAUSE YOU AIN'T GONNA GET A SEQUEL" written all over it. Also, I will never be in a mood to read a manga that started some 14 years back with no ending in sight.

I would rather watch Joshikousei no Mudazukai or Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru? than an anime with a guy seeking revenge. Too deep for someone of my age.

Ah, I see. I like deep, but full agreement and consensus on the former issue. It's the number one grievance above all else I have with something like Berserk. And it's quite obnoxious to hear "Just go read the manga!" shouted for years over dismay at the TV show's non-ending. It's so gimmicky. I'm conscious of the fact that anime is technically a glorified advertisement for its source material, in most cases manga, but this debases and cheapens it as an artform and a standalone product. It has never sat well with me.

Since you like psychological anime, would suggest giving Made In Abyss another try. Lie you, I dropped it, once at episode 5, then almost again at ep 6 after having restarted it. I stuck with it, though, and am glad coz post ep 9 is when the psychological shit hits the fan.
