Depends on what you're looking for, but I usually go to /cm/ on 4chan for pictures of male characters. It helps bring together art from many different sites instead of just art from like Twitter or something.
But I wouldn't go there during the summer and definitely wouldn't go if you're from tumblr. Folks on /cm/ are nice, but we're still 4chan. If you need the source of the artist on /cm/, just reverse image search it through the website, reverse image search it on your own, or take the file name of the image and track it down (once you're used to filenames, you'll know where each is from). Last resort is asking for the source.
Other than going to 4chan and finding what THEY think is quality, go to the sources from the start if you're totally fine with going on long yet rewarding searches for good art. I mainly stick with pixiv. What you're going to want to do there is either type the names IN JAPANESE of a series or character that you want to search for OR just copy paste their Japanese names and paste it into the pixiv search bar. If you're looking for a pairing, either find out the pairing name in Japanese or find an image with your pairing, look at the tags, and figure out which one of them is the pairing name. Pixiv has been more open to English users lately, so the tags should be romanized. You might be able to even search in English. You can also do the searching in Japanese thing with with sites like Twitter and wherever else artists post their works.
Make sure you always save the best quality versions of images if you plan to save them. Some sites have made this harder, but just maybe look it up or ask how to save the best quality images. Like, don't save things that say "master", "sample", or "thumbnail" or else you're saving a preview image. You might even see something that says "1200 version" or whatever. Sounds big, but it's still not the original image. Also, there are some sites which have pretty much made it impossible to save the best quality version of an image, like Tumblr (there is a really obnoxious workaround that's kinda not worth it). So just be careful unless you want to save low quality art. |
