O.K is it just me or does anyone else find humor in this show really cringey and forced? When it comes to action or drama, everything's doing just fine, but once the show decides to lighten up a bit, it feels like it was writen by 14 old.

Lucky Shinra getting to touch unironically lmao. Well looks like we have a clue about the fire that happened 12 years ago. I'm guessing Sho becomes an enemy and will eventually fight Shinra

After over 25 years of watching anime, I'm used to fan service. but this was the cringiest shit I've ever seen.

Garbage fanservice may not seem like a big deal, but the problem is, nothing else in the show is interesting enough to divert attention away from it. Boring, trope-ridden shonen story, uninteresting fire powers, unlikable main characters. Only the setting and costume designs have really been interesting, and it's not quite enough for me.

I still don't understand how the new female character got groped, how do you "accidentally" put your hand under a bra?Or did Shinra just grope a girl he didn't even know? Can someone explain that scene, or is it just, this is anime so this happens every time?
I'm used to fan service but at least it has to make some sense

Shinra looked he didn't know what was going on when he accidentally grabbed Tamaki and him smiling made him looked perverted. I didn't mind the fan service in this episode because fan service is like icing on a cake to me. So the plot thickens with the Fire Force keeping secrets for political and economic reasons.

Another completely stupid and garbage episode:
- More infodumps about things that could easily be shown or were shown before;
- Stupid villains that for some reason go to a place full of enemies but conveniently don't encounter any other 'firefighters' or whatever they are;
- Awkward directing and dialogues;
- Lots of still images and weird shots towards the end;
- Incredibly stupid fanservice. It's not even funny, bro.

I could see it since they mentioned the fire - Sho being taken away by some villain faction and used later on against Shinra/Fire Force. The Infernal that appeared to Shinra that day could be summoned by Sho, it could be living in Sho, Sho might inadvertedly become a villain because of his own personal connection to the fire. There are many paths this could take, but all of them unite in "Sasuke retrieval" if you know what I mean. Should be a trope name for it somewhere...[/quote]

Yeah I can see that too but can't say I'd be a fan of such plot. I don't hate it but I personally don't really like those kinda stories where one character was told some BS and goes full Yanderu for no good reason.

So from what Joker was trying to tell Shinra was that his baby bother is still aliove and it was that captain of the 1st Brigade who has him......I'm guessing that they're performing same experiments with Shinra's baby brother.

I've seen lots of fanservice, but that scene with Tamaki was so awfully forced and off-putting I couldn't help but cringe. Don't know what I was expecting from this series tho. Lots of PLOT going on.

What is more, I thought it was just my imagination, but those weird pauses in dialogs are unbearable at this point. That's something absolutely new to me like why is this even happening? They have nothing to cram into the episode, so those silent seconds are just left there to pass by? Not a fan of such solutions.

On the other hand, the fight with Joker was fairly decent. Animation quality jumping from impressive to botched felt weird, but I'll keep watching this show. The premise itself seems intriguing, especially when Oubi mentioned some shady businnes taking place within the organization. I'd like to know the truth at least.

@Ferrozo I have told the problem comes from the source, the manga was very mediocre especially for someone who made soul eater that seems to have worsened

This anime was not going to be good unless they rewrote much of this especially characters like Tamaki which is the Obligatory Fanservice Girl whose schtick is that she keeps getting groped. If you're going to call out something as an awful cliche, don't just go ahead and do the cliche anyway, you putzes. She contributes nothing but hitting the catgirl fetish crowd though.

Then we get to the ""fight"", if you can even call it that. They were happy to animate Whose-Its kicking. But the direction decided that the best way for him to be attacked would be to blithely stare at and/or narrate that he was being attacked. Multiple times at that. "Gee, I wonder if the explodey dust will explode again. Better stare at it for another 5 seconds." That's when it wasn't just interrupted by them having a longwinded conversation revealing the shocking truth that the brother who disappeared without a trace in a fire wasn't disintegrated.
Again, something anybody with half a brain assumed already, and three episodes in certainly is not a big shocking reveal that could carry a whole episode like they clearly thought it could.

@Farabeuf this would not even win a position of an average shounen.

I utterly disagree with you. I have nothing more to say.

I though the censorship at the ending was scarier that the original part too... Like heads are missing, lives have been forgotten and you don't wanna know what's behind the big black censor line! ><'
But yeah, as said, Joker's design totally looks like it's coming from Soul Eater (remember the clowns and the Flying Dutchman...), needless to say, I expect a character to be mysterious and smart just like Justin.(maybe not Joker, but another antagonist) Oh and in this episode, Arthur made me think of Kid!(That time where he's proudly cutting the ceiling in a clean form xD)
Yeah, maybe this episode doesn't have outstanding animation like in previous ones, but the stylistic zoom on Joker and Shinra's face was dope! And the plot looks more interesting than what I thought before.
Really glad Fire Force's coming back every week! ^^

(Oh and when you know Ohkubo's love for cat girls like Blair from Soul Eater... <3
I kindda started to enjoy fanservice, that's what made me start Soul Eater's anime, I was a just a middle school boy excuse me, thanks to him...
... There's nothing to be shocked about fanservice here, I usually don't like it but I've seen a lot worse in other shounen manga/anime EVEN more popular, and from time to time adding with the comedy if it isn't to persistent it doesn't hurt, I see your bad faith! >:( )

Well, my opinion of the show just drastically degraded. What's with the blatant fanservice? What was the point of the entire scene? Seriously, horrible.

Back to the story now. Not quite unexpected, however, why would they keep the reason a secret, that is a mystery.

Talk about horrible fanservice. What was the point? Does the author think kids are going to like that?

Although the new fanservice character (Tamaki) is pretty hot, she is no way better than Maki - getting baited again by manga readers (rolls eyes). Learning about Akitaru's goal, I am really interested to see where the story goes on from here. After watching 3 episodes, I like it - the action sequences involving Shinra, Arthur, Tamaki, and the villain Joker was pretty dope. Shinra's younger brother seems to be alive. Good new leads and developments.

>Fire causing continents to be practically chopped up.
mm-hmmmmmmmm
-I will admit, that was one impressive villain entrance. So many aspects of it were nailed greatly.
>His brother is still alive.
Well that would explain the lack of bones at the scene.
-That fight sequence was solid, and the sound design was flawless. Very cool sound effects in fights seems to be a staple of DavidPro.
>Arthur cuts through the wall for a shortcut.
You're a dumbass, Arthur.
-I gained even more respect for Oubi. He realizes the problems with the system in the show, but knows that he still needs to serve the people. Work your way up and change the system from the inside.
Overall, it was a fine episode. On a semi-related note, I had a bad sunburn while watching this, so that made for an immersive experience. I guess.

Yeah the whole "accidentally slipping hand in both her bra and panties and pretty much groping her naked tits and ass" thing was ecchi-tier bad. That stuff doesn't happen on accident lol. I really wanted to like this. The PV made me hyped, the character designs looked nice, the Opening theme is amazing, and firefighters looked cool as hell. I continue to be let down episode after episode. Will continue watching in hopes it improves but maybe I will only keep going until episode 5.

Characters are bland. I feel like their backstories are being forced on me, with bad directing. Well, even if you exposed their backstory gradually, it seems they would still be lackluster. The girls are nothing more than fanservice. You know, I am a lesbian. I appreaciate cute girls. But the fanservice is so damn cringy. It doesn't make sense.If you want fanservice, at least give me a reason on why it happens. Or even better, wait until we have a clear cut idea on who a character is before you begin to sexualize them. Obviously it is probably inevitable to not get fanservice, but for god's sake. My first introduction to a character is seeing her tits? why would I care? I don't know her.

Pacing is bad. For the action scenes it kind of works because the animation tends to look decent, but there are so many shots of characters being still that it makes me wonder if this is their way of saving budget. Villain is bland.With the nickname of Joker, he certainly doesn't look like a cool one. Also, the comedy is extremely bad sometimes. I would rather they stayed in drama mode than attempt comedy.

Overall I did not care for the episode but let's see if next week there is an improvement. Such a shame. The premise was cool, but something tells me this is not only the staff's fault but probably some of the issues even the manga could have.

Decided to watch the first 3 episodes today. I pretty much got what I was expecting, something that looks like soul eater in a different universe and with better, much better, animation.

So far it looks pretty good, the animations and fight scenes are far above the median, they keep using the contrast of dark and bright colors which is pretty eye catching, and the character design is pretty good. Only thing I don't really like is how the scenes are being managed (directing?). The flow feels broke from time to time, it is like they skip a scene trying to ignore something not very interest to then jump into something more relevant.

Despite all the complaints about her character, Tamaki happens to be one of my favorite female characters in the series. As a matter of fact, she is my second favorite after Arthur and a certain someone from the the 7th brigade. She's my best girl because she is a very likable character, despite her being groped and used for cheap fan service. I got immune to it while reading the manga but personally, I see it as a parody of blatant fan service which is common in the Anime/manga series.

Then again, this is a your run-of-the-mill shounen and they often come with lots of fan service at the expense of a female character that is absolutely ridiculous and illogical. If it's not your cup of tea, it won't get any better. Expect lots of moments with Tamaki getting groped and stripped. This certainly won't be the last time you'll see her in ludicrous and over-sexualized states.

However, despite her being my favorite, I feel like that scene where Shinra groped her twice was executed very poorly. It's like BAM in your face, like how the eff did that happen? It looks like Shinra did it on purpose, while in the manga, it subtlety happened, she was stepping in front of him, he was raising his hand to stop and get Captain Burns` attention. He accidentally slipped and grab her tit and her ass in that manner.

I also didn't like how they were trying to force that "humorous" part of Shinra questioning why Mamoru-kun was a mascot. Why did they repeat the "huh?" twice? That was really forced as well.

On the plus note, the voice acting was great and the animation during Shinra's fight was wonderful but that part when Shinra landed with the two victims and his face was not animated was really weird.

This episode was straight garbo. It's been a while since I've had antagonists and plot be forced down my throat, thanks Fire Force. Already our antagonist shows up and reads a short paragraph that summarizes to: "Join the dark side Shinra and I'll tell you about your brother," but hey at least he looks sort of threatening. Also we get introduced to Tamaki who's introduction is literally just Maki, but worse. The only thing this show has going for it is it's world building. The characters are bland, the interactions are REALLY stilted and awkward, and the plot is extremely rushed. I want this show to be good, I really do, but I don't think we're going to get that. Here's hoping the later episodes are better.

I really enjoyed the fight between the villain dude (we don't know his name yet, and I'm to lazy to read the manga so that's what I'm going to call him) and Shinra. I really like the villain's personality and design, it was really well animated. I kind of hate the cat girl, her ability is interesting, but she's also pretty damn whiny and has a shit personality. Also, she's a textbook tsundere ( I normally don't have a problem with tsunderes, but this one is really getting on my nerves.) and is being used for trashy ecchi fanservice that this great show really, really doesn't need. I'm hoping she doesn't become a main character, but based on how many times she appears in the opening, I guess she's going to eventually be apart of the main cast...

The animations in this show are so satisfying for my eyes, especially fire animations. Oh, if only Fairy Tail had some of those. Also that fanservice was implemented really well, I'm both amazed and pleased by it lol.

Another great episode, loved the focus on world building and mystery. Also, all girls so far are pretty awesome. Maki is still the hottest and most badass, but Tamaki is a hilarious oddball xD

Digging this so much.

That was some good development. Got to see the antagonists. And the plot is more clear now.

Another awesome episode!

Tamaki made her appearance, and i really like her energetic personality, and she is also cute and hot! Her interactions with Shinra were funny, teasing both into that!

Shinra fight against jiker was really awesome!

I am also curious about Fire Force misteries, and what 1st group captain is hiding!

This show is pretty bad so far, but thank God it has some nice waifus. Tamaki is not as good as Maki, but I will gladly accept the generous fanservice she is offering nonetheless.

What's the difference?

I got immune to it while reading the manga but personally, I see it as a parody of blatant fan service which is common in the Anime/manga series.

Ha-ha-ha It's a PARODY! Oh, good sirs we almost lynched this OUTSTANDING series for doing a PARODY! Why, we were taking it to serious, weren't we?? Splendid then, absolution of all the wrongdoings now. The sign of a perfect parody is when YOU CAN'T TELL IT APART FROM THE REAL THING oh my oh my this amount of sarcasm is not good on my heart.

Never said it's an outstanding series. I did say it's your run-of-the-mill shounen. Everything in it is very generic. The only concept that stands out is the characters being fire fighters. This isn't even in my top 20 or 30 series. It's just a series I'm following mainly for the animation and certain characters.

Honestly, dude, chill out. You are way too triggered by a simple Anime series.

Ushiromiya Battler, right now, on this island, no one exists except for you. You're the only one alive in this island. However I'm here right now, and i'm about to kill you. Who... am I?

The action was amazing, but the exposition was a bit forced and I dislike the fanservice - which isn't necessarily bad, but it doesn't fit in a show like this.
Solid episode.
