Letters only; you may ignore either numbers, symbols or any special character.

As the rule states that you can ignore the symbols or numbers if you username has one before the first letter, I think it's fair to do the same thing with the title, so it'll count.

Hello there, I could use some help with this:

(17)Read a manga recommended to you by another participant in the discussion thread

Sadly, I'm kind of picky. I'm ok with seinen, josei, psychological, dementia, drama, mystery, slice of life, cutesy and light things, even some blood and flesh but I don't like cute girls/boys doing cute things. I prefer real kids being mean and thus, I dunno if that even makes sense.

I can't stand ecchi, BL and GL, average and super cliché shoujos.

And that's all.

Canatrella (WARNING: 18+)
Hakushaku Cain Series

I know both are shoujous, but believe me, they are mature more than some seinen and josei.

Switch (naked ape)
Love in the Mask
Red River
Not as heavy as the other above, but not laughter (maybe something minor)

Josei:
Olimpos (as much as I remember)

Anything is fine just not more than 300 chapters.

Thanks!

I can recommend you Eden no Ori (around 180 chapters) or 666 Satan (almost 80). Hope you will like them.

By the way, how can I ask for this one

Okay, so I'm totally new to this challenge and this website and I'm kinda confused about a lot of things. I have a few questions regarding the manga challenge and I was wondering if anyone could help me with it
1) While registering, I selected the manga generator however,I don't seem to find the generator anywhere. Isn't it supposed to randomly recommend mangas? Also, is it possible to ignore the generator,if found,as I want to read the mangas I'm interested in?
2) What do you mean by:
A. 'Read a manga with less than 1500 completed members'?
B. 'Read a manga with more users listed in PTR than Completed'?
C. 'Read a manga from a magazine with less than 250 titles listed in the database'?
3) I am reading my mangas on an app called Mangarock. Of what am I supposed to link a screenshot to prove that I have read the manga?
I might seem rather ignorant but i am genuinely clueless to what exactly am I supposed to do. And, I really do want to complete this manga challenge

Welcome to the challenge! Let's see.

1) The manga generator gives you a randomized list of the challenge items, that is, you could choose each of the items for yourself if you click "No." on Randomize Items, or you can have the challenge randomized so you don't have to deal with choosing them.
You don't get manga recommendations, so you can read whatever you like that applies to each item. :)
If you want recommendations for certain items, you can also ask here.
2) A. & B. This information is on the Stats page of every manga. Here, you can see the reading, completed, and plan to read users.
C. Here's the Magazine page, where you can find every magazine in MyAnimeList, and choose one that fits your item.
3) You don't have to take screenshots to prove that you finished a manga, as that can be done on each manga page. You only have to link screenshots of items related to information that can change, such as items related to completed/PTR members, and stuff like that.

No problem, that's what the Discussion thread is here for. If you still have any questions, make sure to ask them here. ;)
Good luck and have fun!

Hi there.
My last unfilled entries in my challenge list are:

(21) Read a web manga or 4-koma manga
(40) Read a manga about something related to Japanese culture

Does anyone have some interesting suggestions for these items?
Thanks.

Not too long (Over 7 volumes is long for me)

Thanks! A good number of these sounds pretty interesting.

For the item 40 I somehow thought that only titles about Japanese art, music, theatre and so on would be valid. Completely missed the other definitions of this word... Good thing I asked on the forum.

No problem! :)

The generator is the one you probably used to generate your list, which you already have set up in the Sign-Up thread, it doesn't do more than that.
But, in case you want to generate another list: List Generator & Back-up :)

I am one of the staff on the MRC, which is this challenge, but not on MAL. For that item, you have to search here. (It isn't available at the moment)
We have Xinil, Kineta, Luna. These are the ones I remember at the moment. You would have to read one of their favorite manga. :P

So, recs.
From your PTR:
Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta Ichinen ni Tsuki Ichimanen de
Spirit Circle
Akira

General recs:
Beck
Kiseijuu
Planetes
Akumetsu
Prunus Girl
About Death
Monster
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Hunter x Hunter
Shaman King
Yuu Yuu Hakusho
Battle Royale
Ueki no Housoku
Bokurano
Saishuu Heiki Kanojo

I could go on for a while, you could look at my manga list and choose anything 8 and up, I recommend all of those. :D

Hi there!
Let's see...

Plan-to-read
Bonnouji | v3.ch36 | (comedy, romance, slice of life, seinen)
* Slow paced, but warm. >_<
Liar Game | v19.ch203 | (seinen, psychological, game, drama)
* My greatest pain was the heroine. The missions are very Death Note-ish. xDDD
Slow Starter
* Major spoiler: it's not a R18 (if u know what I mean)

How are you feeling like?

Boku dake ga Inai Machi | v9.ch49 | (seinen, mystery, psychological, supernatural)
Choco Strawberry Vanilla | v1.ch7 | (yaoi, triangle)
Hikaru no Go | v23.ch198 | (shounen, game, drama, supernatural)
Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichimanen de. | v3.ch18 | (shounen, drama)
Kakukaku Shikajika | v5.ch34 | (josei, slice of life)
Kamisama no Iutoori | v5.ch21 | (action, horror, psychological)
Kanojo ni Naru Hi | v4.ch20 | (romance, gender bender)
Void | v1.ch06 | (yaoi, sci-fi, drama)
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Dai-1 Shou - Outo no Ichinichi-hen | v2.ch11 | (action, fantasy, seinen)

I don't think the MRC is going to be extended, so I'd say it's up to each of us to either lower our challenge's difficulty, read shorter stuff, or pick up the pace.

I'm of the same mind as, Henry. Because this is a yearly event the timeline is tight between getting all the entries checked during the holidays when most people turn in and setting up the event for the next year (some of it is done in advance but not all of it). Lowering the items and reading shorter works is the course of action you should take if you feel short on time(for example, you can pretty easily clear many items with one shots).

Lighthearted is great!

Planetes, it's lighthearted at times. 👀
Prunus Girl, not that long.
Hoozuki-san Chi no Aneki
Game Over, some romance.
Voynich Hotel, a must.
Transfer Student Storm Bringer, just funny.
Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou, what you see is what you get.
Jigokuren: Love in the Hell, interesting.
Nickelodeon, a strong 7.

Hope you like some of these, although some of them might be a little on the forgettable side.

Thank you so much! Voynich Hotel looks right up my alley so I think I'm going to check that out first, but I definitely want to look into the others later too. I need to read a manhwa or manhua so Transfer Student Storm Bringer might be it, and I had Planetes recommended for the challenge staff member one so it's good to get another endorsement for that too.

I really appreciate you taking the time. Thanks again!

So for 78 do I have to get a new set of recs for each MRC I do or can I use old ones?

Either way, I want to read some weird stuff, so can I get some recs for the weirdest manga you can think of? Actual quality doesn't matter and I'll say nothing's off the table, degeneracy included.

Can I please get some recommendations for:

(17) Read a manga recommended to you by another participant in the discussion thread.

(78) Read a manga recommended to you by a challenge staff member. @omakase

Only preference I have is that I would prefer something that doesn't already have an anime adaptation.

Apologies in advance if I'm wrong about this but are these recommendations for me for #17?

(78) Read a manga recommended to you by a challenge staff member

I choose you, @HeNrYTG50 !
Can I get a recommendation please. :D
No horror or psychological stuff pls :(

(83) Read a manga that is related to something you have previously read

I am not sure what related means here. Would this be an appropriate submission for challenge 83:

Kurogane

:O I've been chosen!

Hoshi no Samidare
Prunus Girl
Spirit Circle
Chikan Otoko
Fujimi Lovers
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Yuu Yuu Hakusho
Ueki no Housoku
Hourou Musuko
Saishuu Heiki Kanojo
Inu Neko Jump
Haruka na Machi e
Kimi ni shika Kikoenai
Ran to Haiiro no Sekai

A little bit of everything, hope you find something that you like. :)

Related means that it's on the related manga section, so it's either a prequel, sequel, spin-off, one-shot, alternative version, side story, parent story, etc.
It doesn't apply for manga that have similar stories.

Open to most genre really. Fell free to rec anything that is worth checking out. Not more than 80 or so chapters tho ^^

Edit - The rec is for #17 - "Read a manga recommended to you by another participant in the discussion thread"

Let's see.

Spirit Circle, technically?
Hoozuki-san Chi no Aneki, perhaps?
Made in Abyss, on-going.

Tough choice. 😅

The Record of a Fallen Vampire
Red River
Harlem Beat wa Yoake Made
Demon Diary
Count Cain

Sorry most are shojous, but they aren't too girly.

Thanks for the recommendations. Almost all of them sound really interesting. A couple were already bookmarked on my phone, so I may as well give them a chance.

Might give them all a go.

Thanks for clarifying challenge #83
