| beautiful ep, and zero two in her original form was so cute also the parts with zero two getting tested on like that really reminded me of dead man wonderland and what happened with shiro though it was way worst with what happened with shiro but still this ep reminded me of it but this ep and that last scene such a great cute sad ep |

| I don't know if this happens to anyone else but this anime leaves me emotionally exhausted lol Paints a picture of such a discouraging future, especially this episode... The way the adults couldn't care less about the children's wellbeing... I don't know, I'm enjoying it immensely but at the same time every new episode leaves me drained. |

| Finally a really amazing and beautiful backstory! Really loved that, no wonder she was always searching for picture books! Really loved that ending and I do wonder what will happen next now that they know or at least remember parts of their past! Would be great to be honest in terms of character development and well I really look forward for it! |

| FEAST THY EYES!!! Now, this is a proper backstory and revelation combo!!! Add to that the fact that this is definitely a PLOT CHANGING event! REJOICE!!! THIS EPISODE IS FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Alright, before this episode, I knew that Hiro got a depressing childhood and at one point, he lost his memories somehow. Also, I do know that Zero 2 must also have a fucked up past full of her body being experimented upon, especially because of her being half klaxosaur. But holy shit... This episode explains it all... Why Zero 2 calls Hiro 'darling', why Hiro doesn't recognize Zero 2 and the reason Zero 2 acts so fondly of Hiro which was all because of the events when both of them broke out, spends time together and make beautiful memories together. Those childhood smile of Hiro and Zero 2... PROTECC THOSE SMILES!!! I can feel the feels, and that feels that I felt got multiplied knowing that after those times where Hiro and Zero 2 spent their time alone as children, Hiro's memories are eventually erased, erasing all the wonderful memories he had of Zero 2 and his perception of the world itself! Fucking bastards, erasing these memories... And because of Hiro's erased memory, he has changed since then until now as a person, so does those around him that depends on him, such as Mitsuru...  After all these times, mixed with emotions and unfamiliarity. Finally, both Zero 2 and Hiro has finally been REUNITED!!! Oh, how will the story progresses I wonder... This is thrilling! Low number = higher parasite potential?! So Who's number 001? PAPA?! |

| OH NO. OH NONO this is NOT healthy for my heart at all holy shit. I knew this episode was gonna be fucked up, but holy shit i was not prepared that was fucking all levels of sad and horrifying. The shit they did to Zero Two was horrifying, but they also experimented on kids to become obedient child soldiers and labelling them as pretty much expendable. Hiro and Zero Two's relationship goes way beyond Franxx partners at this point, that shit was emotional and i could imagine the pain she felt after the person who promised to be with her forever, forgot her existence ;-; honestly this anime has done a massive step up from when i first starting watching it, hope it keeps this up! |

| At the beginning I thought it would be a stupid "Oh, I totally forgot about that fateful encounter" thing, but they wiped his memories... that's why he forgot about his other promise as well. Good episode. |

| Flashback for Zero Two. |
| I get that it was told beautifully but wasn't this stuff we already knew? The adults were doing tests on them, Zero Two was the red horned kid, everyone's expendable if need be. This has all been shown to us or at least heavily hinted in previous episodes. I do appreciate the quick throwaway line they put in where they said they'd remove their memories, that explains why they didn't remember each other or Hiro not remembering the promise he made with Mitsuru. Also explains the licking part since that's what she learned from Hiro and her keep saying he's her "Darling". Like I said, it was a great episode but the amount of praise I'm seeing for it feels a bit over the top, some are acting like it's the best episode since years. |

| This is top tier stuff. I'm very hesitant to say it's the best episode of the show so far, maybe not by much, but it's probably is. I can't believe I was this 🤏 close to shading a tear, and I don't do that on the regular. |
| To think this show managed such an impressive episode, I was wondering it the main duo got some screentime if something like this could happen but this flashback episode produced the best of this show so far easily. I wonder where this is heading given this anime has a bit of a reputation, I really hope this moment is built on and isn't pissed on. I expect great this from these two now. Shall see! |

| Very good episode ! (Though I'm a bit surprised to see people calling it a masterpiece. It's good but calling it a masterpiece might be quite exaggerated imo.) It's great to finally get Zero Two's backstory. Not surprised by any mean by what I've learned given all the foreshadowing, but still, it touched me. Zero Two was so adorable as a child... It's heartbreaking to think about what she's been through. However, that still doesn't explain how she went from a feral child who couldn't even speak to a sassy disobedient teen, especially given that her memories got erased. That's not the evolution I would've expected if I saw this backstory before seeing the current Zero Two. I hope it'll be explained. After all, since Zero Two is transforming it might lead to something interesting in terms of reveals. At least this backstory explained a lot of her quirks, as well as her obsession with Hiro. Looks like despite her memories having been erased, some bits remained... Also, her relationship with Hiro has way more depth than I initially thought, I like that. But I still wonder who current Zero Two truly is as a person, given that there's still a lot of her story we haven't gotten (yet). Good ? Bad ? More nuanced than that ? Hard to say for now. Overall it was a great episode that explained a lot of the protagonists' current behaviour, but there was a little something missing for me. This is the type of story that can make me cry a river, and yet I didn't even shed a tear. I wwondered why, but then I realised that it is because all the backstories that made me cry involved characters I already established a connection with. That is the biggest issue with Darling in the Franxx, on one hand developing the side characters was nice, but on the other hand preventing Hiro and Zero Two from getting more screentime really didn't play in their favor, at least in my opinion. This episode could've been incredibly impactful, but it had such a weak build-up... At least I hope the other episodes will be as good as this one now that both Hiro and Zero Two recognize each other. |
