Vagabond is an awesome manga that has been on a hiatus for almost 2 years now and I'd love to see it comes to life as an anime. Vagabond is really popular manga so why doesnt it get a anime adaptation? Also if it did get an anime adaptation how would you want it? For me I'd want it to be a ONA series so that it isn't censored.

i dont know how it hasnt gotten one in the past. feels like the industry has sort of trended away from the samurai genre for the last 10 years but thats just a minor issue.

i personally think vagabond is a series that starts slow and grows better and better with each subsequent arc, so i could see a bit of trepidation in how you would kick off the story in a way that would grab viewers who aren't prior manga readers.

especially considering the industry has also shifted away from longer anime, so whatever adaptation we would potentially get most likely wouldn't be able to reach the truly great arcs.

Yeah, Vagabond's anime adaptation would be betrayal to manga. If you wanted good adaptation, it should be long. Im personally happy, that Vagabond hasnt gotten anime and hope it never will.

No way that would happen. It prolly would be 12 episodes, max 26,and rushed as hell.

On one hand, seeing those gorgeous fight scenes on screen would be awesome. On the other... Vagabond is one of those manga that would be difficult to adapt and still stay true to spirit.

a shitty anime that will make people less interested in the manga is worse than a great manga with no anime

they didn't need avertise since they are one of most sold manga already and pretty sure the animation would too pricy and too risky to made... i don't said it's impossible, but very unlikely at this point...

1) not mainstream
2) have u seen the amount of the detail, realistically it either gonna be mixed CGI with 2D ( thats not terrible) or live action HBO show that will work i think well
3) Not finished, doing source materials thats over is much easier as you can struture the series much easier look at long ongoing series literally a mess when its comes to animation and pacing.

The author had problems with Slam Dunk Anime ending and so he ended all rights with it.

So i doubt he will again go for Vagabond Anime.

Though if it gets a faithful adaptation like Monster why not?

I would be happy if Studio Bones did 8 1.5-2 hour movies adapting the entire manga + the rest of the story of Miyamoto Musashi by the same director and music composer as Sword of the Stranger, with Yutaka Nakamura animating the fight scenes. But it'll never happen.

A lot of the beauty from the series would be lost without the ultra-detailed style the mangaka uses also due to no overly large fanbase.

It’s okay to look back at the past, just don’t stare too long

I can't recall an anime with visuals at the level of Vagabond.

There's just too much standing in the way of an adaptation.

Vagabond is too long so they would have to either make it on-going, which studios don't really like doing, or do the typical 12-24 episodes, but then it gets cut off as the anime has far too much material for just a cour or two.

The art is absolutely GORGEOUS, and it'd be impossible to both make the anime look as amazing and be accurate, you can't have that sketchy, rough look with animation without making it seem out of place.

It's also violent so it'd have to have a higher rating, that'd impact views and time-slot.

Last, but not least, it's hiatus. Due to how long it's been since we got the last chapter there has been a lot less attention on this manga, even if it's still absolutely loved by the community. While some of you guys would be excited for an adaptation, the lack of attention it has would definitely impact how well the anime would do. We have a perfect example in Vinland Saga. It now has an anime adaptation which is doing fairly well, but it's still not even beating Dr. Stone and Fire Force despite how well the source material is received. You guys might have forgotten, but the anime industry is a business.

The artwork is too realistic.
Pandora Hearts is the best manga ever made and deserves an anime reboot

i heard the mangaka of it do not want any future manga works of him to have an anime adaptation like he hates how Slam Dunk which he authored too was handled by the anime industry but then he is fine when Buzzer Beater got an anime adaptation so who knows how he feels now

when it comes to these kind of manga, an anime doesn't make any difference. I RATHER just read the manga than getting an crappy adaptation as you know these type of manga is not easy to animate. I'm really scared if it turns into berserk

i'm not sure vagabond has enough mass appeal for an anime adaptation to be successful(financially)

because it's trash? and the art style looks far too hideous to get an anime adaptation.

Berserk: Amazing art + Good story + Crazy sword + incomplete = adaptation.

Vagabond: Amazing art + Good story + Crazy sword + incomplete = impossible adaptation.

What the hell is going on?

A vagabond anime would be so shit compared to the original. It'd probably end up being cgi for some reason too. Not enough seinen fans who buy dvds I bet. SAD.

Vagabond's art style simply cannot be animated well without a massive budget and a lot of time. Unlike Berserk which has a very detailed but still classical anime art style, Vagabond has an intricate, realistic and highly detailed ink brush art style. While Vagabond is a masterpiece, it doesn't translate to the anime format well. Its arcs are long and won't fit into the standard anime run time and it doesn't have mass appeal like Berserk does because its fights aren't the typical "op anime guy with big sword killing goblins".

A pilot PV of a biliblili donghua,

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Lz411v76W?from=search&seid=13059314700933356018

I think today's animation technology is good enough for a Vagabond anime
First the manga needs to be completed, then all need is a talented director and composers.
Until that time animation techs will be progressed even more

The main problem is; no matter how great they adapt this anime, i don't think producers could make money as much as they can from an anime like sword art online or tate no yuusha. most anime viewers don't like seinen stuff.

It would be way to difficult to adapt. It's adaptation would cause an economic crash.
