Nice setup episode for the upcoming fight. Joe is going to be smashed because he won't be able to secure the win if he isn't able to punch the head properly :c

Joe really destroys people with those body blows though, like damn, blood coming from peoples mouths. He's retired two people due to loss of confidence and sent another two to hospital with internal bleeding. Jesus.

the official MAL hall of fame/cursed comments is now open for business - you are welcome to PM me any potential quotes to include

Looks like Joe's next rival gonna be Shiraki Yoko. she appears much more confident and assertive than she was back in season 1. i like where this is heading. honestly, prior to watching the anime, i thought Yoko would be the main character's -Joe- love interest. however, the rivalry dynamic of their relationship is much more interesting and refreshing.

Also, i wonder what kind of "conspiracy" they're scheming against Joe.

The plot is getting more interesting.
With the dialogue of Yoko and Joe I can see the change that Joe has had in those 6 months he was without entering a ring.
It is also curious to see that now Yoko is the president of the Shiraki boxing club, I think that maybe she will become, so to speak, the new phase that Joe will have to face.
And the conspiracy made by the presidents of the boxing clubs. It was expected of the damn Odaka, and now at last Joe and Danpei meet Tiger Ozaki...

Joe telling Yoko to bring him another Rikiishi was a sick moment, the best moment this season.

A lot of moments are slightly changed in this from the original, oh well.

This is way better than the same events in the original, they didn't made too obvious that Joe has a weakness and the presidents don't act like generic villains.

Joe kicking his opponents in the chin and Tiger's evil look made me think about how much of Joe's charm depends on how he's drawn. For a lot of the series Joe is not heroic at all, doing things that are reprehensible. Yet he appears more sympathetic than his opponents because of the difference in how they look. It's not just for the sake of viewers either. His antisocial behaviour combined with his pretty boy image explains why everyone's so forgiving time after time. A good example of the halo effect.

Joe has gotten so good that the heads are fixing matches for him lol. But I bet this plan will backfire, causing Joe to get even more recognition and a world champion rank.

Joe shouldn't had kicked that boxer. I know it was dirty of them but come on that boxer wasn't doing anything.

Joe is actually throwing punches now instead of just baiting counters,

he always had the potential but he is just farming aura like crazy now, noticing what they are up to and trolling back is just tooooooo coool!!

idk about the guy calling out Tiger's "looks".. he looked menacing enough both the times, that is what matters! this is boxing not modelling lol

Okay so now I’m really curious on when this show now takes place. At one point in the episode they were playing True Love by Seiko Matsuda (banger tune), a song released in 1980. But shouldn’t the show be taking place in the late 60s or 70s at this point?

Absolutely loving the show so far, but I’m always OCD about stuff like that.
