No lol. I only watch opening once and rarely ever watch the full ending.

They make absolutely no difference on how I rate anime.
I usually skip the OPs & EDs unless the song is "catchy" for me.
Very few do I even pay attention to the visuals.
How well I like the song has nothing to do with how well I like the anime.

You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

I wake up with coffee & anime, I go to sleep with coffee & anime.

Sorry if my sarcasm is bad, it's not my first language.

Oh yes! Some of anime include its own story foreshadowing in OP and ED songs. I really like to listen to them. They are unique. I think it does affect the rating.

Not for me personally.

I think the point of an anime is to tell a story and that the OP is just there to get you excited for that story.

I also think the ED is just to let you know the cast and crew that worked on that anime, and they just decided to add some music and visuals to not make the sequence boring.

Definitely, OP and ED play a huge part in my enjoyment towards anime.

OP really helps to prepare the appropriate mood or set the overall tone of the series.
ED helps to conclude a wonderful episode.
I also like anime doing little changes in their OP/ED. Or have multiple OPs/ED.

i'm going to give code geass a 1 instead of a 9 because it changed it's opening. colors hyped me up for the show, now i feel like never watching it again because they changed it.

For me, it does. Guilty Crown had a bad story and i still ended up rating it high because of openings and the soundtracks

No, they don't. Why would they? I skip most of the endings either way...

There are two factors that makes me score an anime due to their opening

Spoiler Fest Opening or Ending - minus score for spoiling me

Artistic Opening or Ending + plus points for the sound and art category

I skip them. However, Clannad (Dango, Ushio, The place where wishes come true) is something else. Never once skipped, watched it a lot of times even know how play them on piano.

Song sure does effect but not specifically the only ones you're asking.

Listening to the first opening during the credits of Golden Time made the final even more impactful,so yeah, in some cases it definitely influences how I rate a show.

No. I consider it separate from the anime. Just like how I don't rate a book lower/high based on the cover.

personally, not really since I tend to skip them unless I love the song or how it looks. I feel like it should be based on the plot/storyline and characters :D

Not really.

I generally skip OP ED if they're not very gorgeous to listen to or visually impressive, so even with a bad OP, I could just skip it anyway.

Doesn't affect my score most of the time.

Good OP example for me (or else I skip 95% of the time)

I agree ,
I don't force myself watching OP/ED if it were bad, but sometimes because it was too good you can force yourself to skip it unless you're currently in a good part of the story.
Sound quality least for me mainly came from OST and VA.

OP/ED are just bonus in my scorings.

Although a good op/ed might add to the overall enjoyment of the anime, a bad one doesn't really subtract anything, I just skip it. In either case I don't consider the op/ed while rating an anime.

Nah. But I rarely skip OPs and I appreciate an OP by its own merits. EDs are easily skippable unless they have a good song or an eyecatching visual.

The OP/ED might get me in a better mindset of the coming/next episode, making me change my rating while being unaware of it, I remember Black lagoon's ED making me focus more on the character moments and sad parts of the show instead of the action and... yelling, usually what an OP or ED does to my enjoyment of the show is not as clear though.

The only time I changed the ating of a show for the OP unrelated to my enjoyment of the show was for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei because it was absolutely incedible.
Even an OP as bad as Baki Grapppler 2 won't let me lower the overal score

There is not a bit of logic in taking that into account, more for me that 9 out of 10 animes I ended up omitting the OP and ED.
Taking advantage of the space to say that I think they are all the same, only one note changes in the intonation and those that present different characteristics are worse.

No, not unless the OP/ED was amazing, in which it will get bonus points when reviewing the sound criteria.
But if the OP/ED is bad or mediocre it generally makes no difference to me.

I used to, back in 2012 to 2013 or so I had a system where I factored in OP/EDs.

Started to not care about the songs, so that system fell into disuse and by the time I came on MAL I had a completely different rating scheme and was skipping songs altogether

Honestly yes because if I like an intro/ending a lot I'll usually watch it a lot even when I'm not watching the anime itself and the intro makes me remember the anime fondly regardless of the actual quality of the anime.

If I take them into account, but their importance is quite low, probably 5% of the final score

Not at all.

I rate solely about the show (story/characters/etc).

OP/ED are a non-factor. I don't really care for them most of time, so I would be deducting a point for alot of anime if I was factoring them but I don't feel that it's something I should factor into scoring.

I think it's completely fair/legitimate factoring into a full-fledged review like I see every now and then when I happen to run over the MAL reviews. Breaking down everything for the review -- "Story, Development, Music, Characters, Overall Final Score"

I never take the ED into consideration when rating and for the most part dont take the OP into consideration when rating a anime however if the show had an amazing opening such as tokyo ghoul season one or attack on titan then i will raise my rating by 1.

No.

I don't even watch/listen to OP and ED, i just know that OP is 1:30 min, and when ED is on the screen i just get to the next episode.

Most anime OP/EDs are pretty good and if they aren’t they’re pretty easy to skip.
My answer is no

No.

Though, a strong OP and ED will make me remember a mediocre Anime more. Like, I felt that outside of world building, characters, aesthetic and the fights that SoulEater was mediocre. However, I loved all of the OPs and EDs.

Well , for me , I rate any normal anime according to 6 categories , one from them is "Soundtracks / OST". If the OP or ED or the Music themes in the anime itself are good , I'd rate it higher , cause it makes me get emotional more ( happy , sad , hype , angry ). so my answer is : Yes. !

Never.

They have nothing to do with the story, so there's no reason I would factor those things into my rating for an anime. Some of my favorite anime have horrible OPs/EDs, and some of my least favorite anime have great OPs/EDs.

Do I have to take into account the OP and ED when all that matters are the beach EPs, the pantsu scenes, and the boob grab?

It's not really that simple in my mind.

Openings and endings in anime are completely skippable so I don't think it's fair to lower your score if they are bad. However, if they add to your overall experience, I think it's justified to raise the score.

Nah. If that was the case, I would have to bump my rating for Aldnoah Zero from 2 to 3 because of that god tier opening.

You would rate those with the "sound" section as well, it shouldn't really affect the score however, a good OP/ED will never make a "bad" series "good."

Also, I don't think the sound rating should matter as much like the animation/visuals ratings knowing that majority of the users here do not actually look deep into music nor animation.

A good OP or ED can make a difference between me continuing or dropping a show. That is how much visual/audio presentation of a series means to me. A really good OP/ED definitely factors into my score under the show's "Music/Soundtrack" rating, which contributes more or less significantly depending on the show.

Nope, I don't particularly care about them, they're usually skipped anyway unless I really like the music.
