Hello, I would find it interesting a system of achievements, such as a badge that means you watched 500 animes and more, or it's been more than 2 years that you are a member of the site. I know that does not solve anything but I find this a funny suggestion. |

As far as I know, only some members of ‘MAL Rewrite’ have badges on their profiles, and it is like the only type of badges MAL has atm. They might implement something good in the future, though. |

I agree that MAL should add more badges than just the one for Rewrite, but milestone achievements as well as achievements for watching specific titles, genres, studios, ect. don't seem like the kind of thing MAL should implement. I think it would be good if they added badges for completing the Anime Watching Challenge and another for the Manga Reading Challenge which could be things you only got one of (but could still have both badges) and would still be multi-tiered for the different levels of the challenge. Maybe someday there will be more things that are badge worthy. Anything MALGraph already does we don't need the MAL site to copy. |

This would be cool to encourage people to watch older anime and write reviews to make the site better but I don't know, apparently that's asking for too much.... |

AniDB had this, though having malgraph and mal-badges, I don't miss the function that much. There aren't much more achievevements and badges MAL could give and those sites aren't. Forum activity, time in service, participating and completing challenges, writing reviews and recommendations and rewarding rewatches. If it was implemented, I wouldn't object. |

PsychoticDave said: Why would you advise against it? The whole "watch anything and everything simply for achievements" comment leads me to believe you'd go out of your way to watch something not to your liking just to get some e-trophy. I consider my malgraph and mal-badge stats like reflections of myself, my habits and tastes. I think it more interesting to see what achievements I can get by watching what I think'd be interesting and having a good time. And then reflect on it whenever I look at my stats. I'm not the type to find any meaning in getting an achievement just so I can say I got it. IMO if I did that, my only achievement would be "I wasted my time". Like, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch more drama/mecha/fantasy/[randomgenre]/etc. if I didn't feel like I wanted to. |

I totally agree, it would be awesome and would promote old anime like those ones ( http://animation.filmarchives.jp/en/works?orderby=default&sound=all&num=50&keyword= ) and people would be more inclined to write review (I myself am to lazy, only did write reviews on some movies, not even on good ones like Kimi no Na wa...) |

I really like the idea of having badges on your profile. Badges could be awarded after completing x amount of anime and manga, x forum posts, x years on MAL, x amount of written reviews, participating in MAL events etc. |

For me, this suggestion will just give way for people to have anime completed on the list that maybe they haven't watched at all. |

HawkAussie said: No one stops them from doing that now. And if they really want to mess up their whole list for a badge then it's their own weird problem. In the end it doesn't really matter if some people add anime they haven't seen because the badge probably won't give you special privileges. But all of us who take the badges "seriously" will be happy when we finally get them. For me, this suggestion will just give way for people to have anime completed on the list that maybe they haven't watched at all. So yeah, some people might "cheat", but people are already doing that to increase their lists, so it's not any different. |

Badges or Achievements the way they do it on Steam or ones that are displayed in Forum posts or profiles could be really cool. Things like 100 Reviews Written or 400 Anime Completed. They'd definitely add more to the social aspect of this site, even if a huge margin of users don't actually hop onto the forums. You could also be rewarded with titles you could use for the forum, so kind of like the supporter titles but they're not custom. Something like in MMOs. |
