| Love to hate a character is simple, but the opposite is quite hard to achieve. Often time it involve immense character development or a very long time exposer. I just want to know some examples of this since i considered it a rarity Examples: - Sodachi Oikura (Monogatari seri): I hated her, she blames everything on the main character, then that speech came up. - Yuki Nagato (Haruhi seri): I don't hate Kuudere, but she lack any thing resemble character development, then I watch the movie - The King and Pitou (HxH 2011): they're heartless monsters, but they have class, and pride. - Kamina (Gurren Lagann): I don't hate him, but he achieved little during his time, how they manage to made him the symbol of the entire show is beyond me, despite, you know, die 1/3 way through the whole thing |

| Dude, for me it's the opposite. It's easier to love then to hate a character. Example: Kurisu, I like her, she is smart and has nice design, but then we saw her slowly fall for Okarin and started to act tsundere. I turned to hate her. Tsukuyo, I love her, she is so badass, strong and independent woman. But then she fell for Gintoki and we saw her tsundere side. Ugh I felt betrayed. I hate her now. As for hate then love, the only one I remember is Yui from Angel Beats. And it's not really from hate to love, just from hate to neautral. I remember hating her because she is so noisy and can't stay still for just a goddamn second but then her back story happened and I pity her and no longer hate her. |

| Eikichi Onizuka comes to mind. The first few minutes of the show made me ready to write him off as a disgusting pervert. While I still dislike his perverted tendencies, the fact that he genuinely cared about his students and managed to help them in his own weird way made him one of my favorite male anime characters. |

| Only felt that once, that goes for Eren (Attack on Titan). I didn't really mind him being incompetent and reckless, but I thought that he was oblivious about that himself. That me hated him until I was proven to be wrong by the very end. |

| Yabuki Joe is a prime example of a character who fits this criteria. At the beginning he was really a prick, but then throughout the story he developed into one of the most admireable characters I've ever seen. |

| The first characters that comes to mind is Meari Saotome. I did not like how she acted in the first episode, but overtime she grew on me. She changed from being a sadistic crazy person into a prideful person. Of course, I would not say that I love her to be exact. I have a more "somewhat like" feeling towards her. |

I same with this, except I truly like her. I hate her first because her characterization in the first story. But as story progress we then know she just wants to survive, and then Yumeko came and give her a reason to advance more than being safe. If you read the Twin spin off, there's an indication she's betrayed because her nice personality before, that make her bitchy and independent character more reasonable than before. |

| I hated Shinji Matou with a passion when I started Fate/stay night; then I realized how pathethic he was to be hated, and I started to love to hate him; then I read a very long post about him, it was so beautiful I cannot hate him anymore, even if he is a piece of shit. Chiyuri from Accel World too. She seemed like a useless character who only made things more complicated for Haru and Takumu. Then, then final episode of the series come and is not only revealed she was helping Noumi to improve her powers to later backstab him, but she actually made Haru wing by reversing the effect of Noumi's ability. |

Long_Ng said: - Kamina (Gurren Lagann): I don't hate him, but he achieved little during his time, how they manage to made him the symbol of the entire show is beyond me, despite, you know, die 1/3 way through the whole thing Kamina is the crux of the show. He is the one who goes up against the norms and literally gets them off the ground. Kamina grows from what he learns and when he doesn't, he dies. Kamina disrespects the dead. He claims that he would never bite it out there. Later, after realizing that he is vulnerable as everyone else, he changes his views and he honors the dead. When he doesn't learn from his stubborn passion to not retreat he almost gets Team Dai-Gurren killed. He never learned from this value and he met his end. A reason he never learned from this is because he saw his dead father. It reminded him all too well of his cowardice and he wasn't there to help his father. This reinforced his iron value to one of steel. This core value of his was sparked when his father left for the surface. He was too cowardly to go with his father so he ran away. This changed Kamina into what he is today. Without Kamina's bravado and rash thinking, humanity would never escape the confines of the Spiral King. Kamina is the sole reason this show happens, and his influence reaches to even the final episode. Kamina is a man who sticks to his values, yet he knows that this is a flaw in himself. This is an admirable trait for a leader. Most people like him because in today's society it is hard to stick with what you believe in. Kamina is a man among men. "Kamina would rather die than do something he doesn't want to do." He'd rather die than do something is doesn't believe in. It's stupid, rash, and ignorant, but a badass quality to have in a man. An even better quality to have in a leader. When Kittan joined up, there might have been struggle to who was leader if Kamina was a weaker character. Everyone knew Kamina was the man in charge. Kamina was humanity's leader and he kept his ideals to the very end. Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power. Whether you like or hate Kamina is irrelevant. His actions speak louder than his speeches ever could, and that's saying something. |

| I'm not particularly fond of my reason for initially liking Laura Bodewig the most in IS, because it's largely rooted in how it delved into hostile back and forths over the nations they're from too often, which led to an aggressive feeling of "Kick their ass, Laura!" more than anything else when she fought somebody. I couldn't even try to go along with the narrative portraying her as a temporary villain because of that >_> I wanted her to curbstomp everybody. Go Laura, weeee. Doesn't help that it's hypocritical of me, given that she was little better than anybody else about that type of banter. Though after that sort of tension between the cast toned down and she joined the harem and stuff, I still found her the best but that sort of reason for initially latching onto her feels kind of dirty to me because it's a bit too petty for my liking. Though I found that way of building tension leading up to fights between the national representatives to be incredibly obnoxious in general. I guess not being especially fond of my reasoning behind initially heavily rooting for a character has to count for something in this matter. If it doesn't then I can't think of a character I dislike to like solely because of their character, and like I noted, that sort of went away once that type of banter toned down in the second half of the first season. |

| Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi, I hated how she was getting jealous of Miaka and being mean to her, added to it she turned out to be he but later as the series progressed and more about Nuriko was revealed, I started to actually like him, by the time he started dressing as a man again and even developed feelings for Miaka, I think I ended up liking him even more than Tamahome. |

| Love is a strong word, but I kinda grew to like Louise from Zero no Tsukaima over time, perhaps this is my way of dealing with the fact that I lost a bet and had to watch all of it despite dropping it but perhaps not. Also well, some villlain I kinda grew to love overtime once learning more about them... would not cry over their death tho. This is more manga wise, but I hated Guts from Berserk, when I started reading it, but the more I read the more I liked him, to the point when I would say he is one of my favorites male characters. |

| I'm weird when it comes to this aspect.. I won't hate any character that is meant to hate. like I wont hate blackbeard , for example . for giving ace to the marines. the reason is too stupid to hate. but then again that means I hate characters that are meant to be loved but they suck. example is kurisu and many other characters ( mainly Mcs and heroines ) |

1. My baby, Homura Akemi from Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica.![]() I honestly hated her since she was a bitch, but daaaaaamn I'm not gonna say what happened afterwards since it's a massive spoiler. Lmao. 2. Bishamon from Noragami. ![]() Honestly, one of the greatest female characters, probably the greatest imho. She just loves slaying me with her existence. Ugh. I love Bishamon so much. <3 3. And the last, but not the least: this short cinnamon roll. ![]() Okay, honestly, we all hated at him first since he's like an asshole, but boiii we were wrong. From hating him with a passion to him being my ultimate cinnamon roll. Hehe. |

From hating him with a passion to him being my ultimate cinnamon roll. Hehe. Same, for both. Bishamon was imo great as soon as you were able to understand her. (also, best mom, you know) It just breaks your heart to watch her trying so hard and still failing. X/3 I won't say I love Levi, but he really grew to me? I'm ashamed to admit it, but I didn't hate him for "being an asshole", he was just so popular. That's a very stupid reason. .__. Also Nora. She is a manipulative bitch (tho with a deep characterization). I hated her for that. I mean, nothing changed about her. I just love her now for the exact same reasons. XD Krul Tepes and Guren from Owari no Seraph. I had mixed emotions about them, because there is actually much to let you feel this way. Now I really like them because of this fact. Kanda from D.Gray-man. I was very sceptical about him at first, but he is one of my favorite characters now. x3 Kagome from Inuyasha. I don't know why I didn't like her. Maybe young and dumb back then and she was in the middle of one of my favorite pairings? ^^" |

| Well, this kind of happened to me this week. I hated Naru, the new character from New Game Season 2, since she's so condescending and is two-faced. However, after the recent episode, which reveals her true reasoning for behaving like that, causes me to have a better and warmer reception for her. A long-term one is good, but the ones that happened in short term is not bad either, in my opinion. |

| Erina from Shokugeki: She was very irritable early in the series, but the last few arcs in the manga have redeemed her greatly. Mari from Kakegurui: She was really nasty and bitchy at the beginning, but improves as the anime progressed and got some nice yuri undertones between her and Yumeko. Bakugou from Boku no Hero Academia: They guy is an asshole and he's a huge prick to Deku. However, he's got a lot more to him and has insecurities like everyone else. Plus he's not such a bad guy if you look past the surface, he's just got a foul mouth and an attitude problem lol. |

But oh well, their soundtrack when they are on screen is catchy and they seems to redeem themselves at the end of s2, and now, i kinda love those two checky brats. |

I would Not agree with you, IF NOT for that last scene with Kamina that scene transcend his existence in the whole seri Of course, he demonstrate his manliness and also his weakness. He's a loveable character however, he got it short for him die only 1/3 way through the seri, merely 8 episodes, 2 of which are arguably filler and like i said, he became a symbol of the show for that last scene alone (which i considered to be one of the best moments in anime) |

| Characters generally don't redeem themselves once they've start off with the wrong foot. For me characters to eventually change to make people love them after initially coming off badly feels forced. Neutral to love or dislike to neutral certainly happen often though.
