| Well first time here, and 761 episodes to go. In the episode we see how pirates set sails to the great treasure, marines wanted to maintain order and law which seems to be story focus. Luffy and his meet with the marine wannabe Coby, which is the beginning of his journey to be Pirate King. Next Chapter: we will meet bounty hunter Zorro. |
| I have finally started the behemoth that is One Piece- but the question is, will I be able to wade my way through it?! Pretty generic first episode really- standard for shounen fare, although I guess this was the first of the big three (?) which is really evident given anime/manga that came after it... you can see the inspiration it's had on other series' for sure!! When I spot a trope or obvious plot point- especially in Shounen- I can't help but roll my eyes and sigh. Here though, although I knew what was gonna happen I found that there was definitely a charm about the whole thing. I can't put my finger on it!! There are only a handful of anime I can think of that do that, and they're on my favorites list...so I'm hoping that One Piece can keep this up. I'm still keeping expectations lowered though! I like the sense of adventure too- it really reminds me of Hunter x Hunter, especially in the earlier arcs. Luffy also seems a bit similar Gon (in the introductory episodes & not later on ofc)...so we'll hafta wait and see where this goes!! |

That Adventure concept which One Piece displays is like any other, it's a journey from across many islands/countries ;3 So good luck ;3 I love to rewatch this anime because it's the best imo ;3 |

| Decided to rewatch one piece from the beginning. Its crazy in this episode Luffy doesn't seam to be anything special. A rascal with big dreams. A decent fighter with the ability to stretch which he got from a magical fruit. We also get to see Nami stealing from pirates....ah nostalgia. |
| I can't belive I decided to rewatch one piece. About 780 episodes, gonna take some time~ I forgot so many things already from the start, I didn't remember Luffy meeting Nami so fast. Let the nostalgia begin. |

| That was a good episode, nothing mind blowing (not that I was expecting anything mind blowing but still..), but a good episode nonetheless. So, I've finally started One Piece. I've been wanting to start this anime for quite a long time, but the amount of episodes always scared me in a way, but I spontaneously decided to start it about half an hour ago and so here I am. I've heard a lot of things of course about One Piece and I'm currently thinking of only sticking until the time skip (517 episodes), so this comment is basically me planting a flag to look back to after some time. Let's see how long this journey will take me. |

| I thought I told myself that I was going to read the manga instead but I ended up buying dvds of episodes 1-790 and here I am~ It was a fun intro to the super long series. I got to see the first Gomu Gomu Rocket and Pistol kick some ass~ Nami had her debut and Zoro got a mention this early too. It's weird that the guy who aspires to be the strongest man of the seas is just drifting aimlessly sleeping in a wine barrel but that'd be an interesting story to talk about I suppose. |

| just started watching one piece not so long ago but i think this is really good first episode, i can really feel a sense of adventure in it and excited to watch the next episode. |

Guys on the streets selling cheap DVDs on the streets for people to buy kek They're usually the ones who burn the subbed episodes into the cds and it's pretty low quality coz of so many of them being crammed into each disk but I impulsively got them anyway coz they had almost all of the episodes available at the time and the internet connection in this country sucks ass for the most part. Not official but there ain't anyone around who sells the real deal sadly oof |

Jimbei Gets mentioned in Episode 4 lol. Its quite mind boggling to see the kind of foreshadowing and planning oda can achieve and honestly this is the reason why One piece supersedes any other shonen out there. For anyone knew starting this show. I think what fans will find the most greatest aspect about OP is its consistent in its quality of writing and even mechanics such as power scaling and character development. I really can't say the same for many other shonen out there.(ahem, sakura, it was all his plan from the beginning, please stop with the philosophical talk darkness becomes light and light is within the darkness ahhh my brain hurts, Lets all hold hands and maybe our friendship powers will seal the void and destroy the evil, he was manipulated all along and then the manipulator became manipulated by another manipulator and ok ENOUGH). I have seen enough anime to truly judge a genre such as shonen which is plagued by inconsistencies and flaws and this by far is the best I have ever seen. This coming from someone that is particularly not a huge shonen fan. The diverse cast of characters, the charming adventure aspect, the lore, the deep world building, foreshadowing, the emotional story telling, the consistent writing and clever mechanics, the action and fights, the rich imaginative and distinct art styles, the element of heroism and even poetic symbolism used in the narrative. I mean it really is the king of shonen and the most popular selling manga in japan for a reason. Sorry Dragonball you have been dethroned! So with that being said, it is a series that takes a bit of use to, it starts out probably the slowest in terms of the big 3 and many other shonen. but if you stick with it, to around i would say episodes 20+ it only continues to improve from there and just gets better and better with each arc. |

| I remember when I started watching one piece and after I saw this, I never expected to catch up. When I did it was like 872 episodes, and now I'm waiting every week for new amazing episode |
| My first time watching.. I usually hate most shounen protagonists, but I really like Luffy xD Getting some HxH vibes, I have the feeling this is going to be an epic adventure. If it wasn't so late, I'd be straight onto the next episode. |

I think what the initial feedback I usually get from fans is that the writing is really good from the point of the characters, the lore, the history and all stories are so carefully planned out and beautifully written and everything just kind of fits together. Nothing ever feels like its a deconstruction. Specifically for veteran anime fans like my self that has watched alot more outside of the norm of regular shonen trappings will find one piece to be really unique in that regard with in its genre. Its a level above the norm for shonen. You expect this kind of quality comparable to legends like Satoshi Kon and Ryōsuke Takahashi. I hope that many creators and visionaries of manga and anime are inspired by the genius of oda even long after one piece ends. |
