Point taken, but from my experience, you're still more likely going to get fun answers by saying to some SAO fans that this series is sexist (with or without supporting this claim with arguments), than [random mainstream sexist show] to live movies fans. Sure, in every medium there are some people who might get triggered (the irony) by feminists claims, but I find anime fans especially defensive about it. And the anime medium really has a ton of stuff that SJW (that's not a negative thing for me) probably won't like. |

I don't think that it's particularly that they're Anti-SJW and Anti-Feminist- they're Anti against the WESTERN version of those movements. This is an anime community, so we're naturally inclined to support the pros of the Japanese that make anime so great. If Japanese adapted the western version of those movements, anime wouldn't be the same. I don't think any anime fan doesn't support the idea of fighting the following in anime: -bullying -sexism -elitism -racism(yes, even Japanese know of their own xenophobia) -etc But in anime, it's actually integrated into the story, not made up and whined about like westerners do. If we used that made-up 'cry wolf' version, anime would become extremely shallow and pointless. For that reason, we're against western style SJW/Feminism. |

Anime receives a lot of backlash from the West for being (rightly or wrongly) perceived as a highly sexualized medium so I imagine a lot of hate for them comes from that, especially since a lot of the "SJWs"/feminists we see dislike sexualization. Wait, you're talking about a video game? The previous quotes were collapsed, and I didn't see the posts about the game. Sorry about that. Yeah, he was comparing it to video game routes and i just replied to that. I usually don't take much of a stance in political discussions myself unless I really have something I stand for. + neutral is pretty hard to define in terms of politics, since it isn't all that black-and-white either way. I mean, in the end the public only gets fed the opposing sites, of course, but generally a very neutral party isn't really going to do much. It leads to passivity (in Belgium at least, but Belgian politics are a little complex though). And sometimes for change, an extremist stance is necessary. Though some extremes are too radical, but honestly feminism hasn't even gotten that bad, IMO, and the only really radical stances you ever see are from independent bloggers. At least I've never had to encounter feminism like that IRL. it might be different in the states or wherever though. |

It's a natural reaction to attitudes that threaten the continued functioning of the industry/medium. Like how a lot of gamers back in the mid/late 2000s were against Christian Conservatives because of people like Jack Thompson, who are now anti SJW because of things like gamergate. And being anti sjw doesn't mean that you are a trump supporter, or even right wing. I'm a leftist and I hate SJWs more and for longer than most alt righters. |

Because anime is one of those few forms of media the USA (the country of origin of most SJWs) can't control. And seeing how little fucks Japan gives about their nonsense rhetoric is refreshing. Darek said: Anti feminist and anti-sjw are rather vague terms but whatever I dunno Feminism is cancer SJWs are cancer Anti-feminism is cancer Anti-SJWs are cancer Anime is cancer I am cancer This is all just pure cancer. Maybe it is just because most of people are in a way anti feminism/sjw on the internet? This post is amusingly true for two reasons: 1. The terms are very vague and basically lump a disorganized bunch of different opinions into a single bundle just to flame them. 2. Everything is cancer, that's why it keeps spreading. Ceresia said: If I got it right, you mentioned fanservice not going together with right-wing views, but I actually feel like watching ecchi/harem anime and being a leftist/feminist is the one that's actually mutually exclusive? I don't feel like starting a debate on the ethics of anime but when it comes to ecchi/harem shows you'd hardly consider them feminist. [...] So yeah, I suppose this case is pretty similar to gaming. On the first look, a lot of gamers seem like anti-sjw right-winged types, but within the community there's also quite a few feminist, left-winged gamers as well. It's also the case that "left-wing"/"leftist" and "right-wing"/"rightist" are also various bundles of different -- sometimes even contrasting -- opinions. The "right-wing" opinions that OP is thinking of is that of the "religious right", the conservative family-values type that wants things to be prim and proper and not filled with what they consider to be immoral and indecent dreck, while the "right-wing" opinions you're thinking of is that of the anti-establishment right (sometimes called or closely associated with the "alt-right", depending on the definition of that term) which feels that modern society has gotten too nice and polite and expresses an unwillingness to talk about certain things, which they feel goes to the extent of suppressing such talk. Meanwhile, free speech rights are also often associated with liberalism/"leftist" views, as a part of human rights in general, which seeks to respect the dignity of every person and discourage practices of demeaning that dignity. Problem is that some people on the "left" advocate badly for this position and then get labeled as "SJWs" and then the "right" starts sticking this "SJW" label on everyone on the "left" and then the conflict just gets blown further out of proportion than it already is. And you can see how that "left"/"right" distinction starts to get complicated once we actually get into actual positions on issues. SeidouTZ said: OT: Not only the anime community, but everyone in general is growing tired of those people and for good reasons. Feminists and SJWs are huge advocates of censorship. I lost count on the amount of articlues/blog posts claiming that anime, manga, video games, etc.. promote misogyny and as such should be censor. Despite being works of FICTION. So i can't really blame people for being pretty anti-feminist/SJWs. I dunno about you, but I've seen more anti-feminist and anti-"SJW" opining than I've seen feminist and "SJW" opining, and lately I've gotten more and more annoyed at the anti- side because they just show up everywhere shadowboxing at (what they perceive as) feminists and SJWs. |

A lot of people aren't good with literary analysis. They think that when someone mentions misogyny, they threaten to censor their favorite anime. Notice how these people rarely respond to arguments. One could say it's a bad thing because it's very sexualizing and by thus objectifying, but one could also say it's a good thing for all those series that feature female characters doing all sorts of cool things like being astronauts, military commanders, genius inventors, heroes of fantasy stories, and so on.
