Even Beako had more of a role then her. Maybe later on in the series She will get some role, but right now, Emilia, and especially Subaru's Obsession with her is the biggest weakness of the series. | OH HECK YES. This is exactly what I needed from this show and from Subaru. I am SO HAPPY with this episode! Rem is the best. Subaru has taken his first real step towards being a hero. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. And yelling at him a lot. His negativity lasted a little too long for my tastes. I was hoping for the best even as I freaking hated him the past five or so episodes. This is my favorite episode so far. I love the creative choice to have the entire episode really just be a talk, in one place, between Subaru and Rem. Rem cemented herself as the best character. And Subaru made the turnaround he needed, the turnaround this show needed from him. I WAS GRINNING THROUGH THIS WHOLE EPISODE I'M SO HAPPY YESSSS GO SUBARU GO REM DON'T LOSE THIS BEAUTIFUL NEW START. Oh, and Puck as a giant beast was pretty dope. |

If she agreed to run away with Subaru, they would be throwing away a huge part of Subaru: someone who never gives up, as badly as she wants to start a life with him. I my point was saving someone was not excuse to expect emotional obligation from hem. If you're helping someone out of love you do regardless of whether you will be loved. You make the target of your affection aware feelings, but shouldn't be guilt tripped into it. The y need to be the one to accept on their own. Atleast Subaru and Rem had interactions. Subaru and Emilia have had plenty of interactions, I'm not surprised it slipped through you goldfish like memory just how Subaru and Rem barely interacted for half of Arc 2 outside murdering and torturing him did. I don't particular care either since I actually like Rem and I'm not low enough to use her attack others characters out of ignorance and butthurt. |

For the first 17 minutes of the latest episode Subaru was the most real, the most intelligent, and the most relatable that he has ever been the entire series, and I actually managed to really feel something for him. Then it all went down the drain. Rem is just flatly written waifu bait. There are multi-dimensional fascinating characters that would also happen to make a great waifu, and there are characters that exist for the sole reason of pandering to the viewers. Rem unfortunately is the latter. There's zero personality or thought behind any of her actions other than being in love with the mc. As far as I'm concerned her character development died episodes ago the moment she fell for Subaru. There are so many interesting things the show could focus on like the five candidates for the throne, or what exactly is the witch, or what are Roswall's (and the other backers) true intentions, but it just chooses to show a boy's unhealthy obsession with a girl he barely even knows and waifu wars. Subaru's rant was really great and memorable though. Hits way too close to home. LMFAOOOOOOOOOO! NICELY SAID! GOOD SUMMARY TOO AHAHAHGAHGS! his rant applies to a lot of people here it seems, would explain why this show has such high ratings. agahgagas |

| Holy cow, this show. On one hand, I greatly appreciate the respite from the "everybody dies" gore-fest, But on the other, the show still does not give any respite from the tugging of the heart-strings. No idea how they're going to get out of this, but I suspect that having Rem firmly on Subaru's side is going to play a huge part. And surely much more to come from Puck. I am eager to learn more about that whole situation. Holy cow. |

They both went through sufferings so they can relate to each other in ways. That OST fit quite well for the episode~  when i watch these i hope it will be rem route |

| I was surprised when I saw that this episode was only 74% loved, but I forgot that people are mad that their ship just sank lmao. It's okay guys, this is what actually happened! Haha, jk, but the author actually wrote a story of what happened if they did run away in something called Re:Zero IF for you Rem fans. Anyways this scene/episode was great. I'm glad he told her straight up that he loved Emilia and didn't wait any longer to give her too much hope. But I still don't understand how the hell can he can reject her after everything she's has done for him and after she poured her heart out for 20+ min o__o There's no way he can die now after such an important scene and character/relationship development with Rem. I'm really excited to see how Subaru plans to save everyone now that he's reset his mental state. |

| Without reading much of the thread, I know most of the posts will be hatred for Subaru. Mainly because he shot down Rem after the most heartfelt, sincere of confessions, which also served to save him from doooooom. And also because he himself confirmed he was everything people thought him to be in his almost suicidal, Evangelion-esque self-loathing / introspective rant. BUT - and it's a big but - this is what the last 5-6 episodes, if not the whole series, have been building towards: the watershed moment where Subaru is forced to confront himself and accept that just because he's in another world he's not magically a better person. Little has been said of his former life, and many saw it as fake for a NEET to act like a social butterfly, but this confirmed his failings as a person run deeper than mere social unease, with his prior persona being a facade to protect himself. The depths his characterisation have reached make him one of the best developed protagonists I've seen in anime: a flawed person, but very much a person an not just the caricature I feared he would remain as. The episode itself was beautiful. Something like 20 minutes dedicated to just one conversation better described as the ultimate therapy session. Subaru's dialogue reminded me of No Longer Human - especially the part about how he should be too ashamed to live - and Rem was simply angelic in how she dealt with and reacted to the situation. The 'what if' scenario was a little overwrought but it drove home just how much thought Rem had given to what she said before she turned Subaru down. And the direction was wonderful: small touches like following Rem's finger as she talked. And the voice acting / music... It was a pity Subaru turned Rem down in a such a blunt way, but Rem knew what she was asking when she said she wanted Subaru not to give up: his entire motivation for being heroic is saving Emilia. He was honest, which was better than the alternative. |
