It was the opposite for me with AOT. I hated it at first, but now I really like it. But I'd have to say Haikyuu. Everyone loved it and I loved it at first, but I can barely get through the 2nd season for some reason.

Shame, since I thought the zanpakuto rebellion filler arc was great in my opinion but the rest of the fillers, aren't as good :). I would recommend going back and watching it after completing the show if you want to give it a try.

When I watched Mirai Nikki forever ago I thought it be a 10/10 masterpiece, best thiriller/psychological anime ever etc.. now I've seen a lot more psychological anime, thrillers, drama.. and so on I see it as pretty average or even worse than your average psychological show, it pretty much just thew every messed up thing it could into show and overloaded itself with no real good focus.

My opinion of anime doesn't change. If I liked an anime then I still do even if better ones show up. A numerical system can't do it justice. If I set one anime at a 10 and see one twice as good then I'd have to make that new show 10 and the older one a 5. That wouldn't adequately describe my enjoyment.

I'd say very little of my early anime experiences can retrospectively be re-considered as "bad". If pressed perhaps only the 2nd season of Shakugan no Shana deserved the downgrade I gave it awhile ago, SnS being a very early watched show for me.

Yes that has happen to me as well, especially when I just started anime but not to the extend of thinking that particular anime is now "bad", more like it is not as good as I thought it was but still decent overall kind of way.

Also @op you gave snk a 5/10 which means you don't consider it a "bad series" but instead a mediocre/average series. I'm sorry, had to point out the contradiction there.

Well its only in the title and I'd prefer it if you would disregard that since it doesn't match the discussion.

I don't think Death Note is bad, but it's sure not as impressive as it used to be. I was blown away by its unique premise, but looking back it was just an elaborate cat-and-mouse game. It's a lot of fun, but nothing more than a thriller. There's nothing psychological or deep there.

Everything. My cousin introduced me to anime, I thought everything my cousin did was amazing, so I thought all anime was amazing and tried my best to find shows exactly like the ones he showed me, which led to watching more anime. And more and more.

I stayed really connected to anime especially after he died and didn't start realizing that anime could be bad until I started creating things that I wanted others to take seriously instead of just keeping my works to myself. Because at that point I was no longer watching things with the intent of pure enjoyment; I needed to analyze every and any work in order to figure out what was good or bad.

Yeah, when I watched it, I thought I watched the best show ever. I felt a little sad because I expected the rest of anime being shit or atleast half shit.

My issue with Re:Zero fans is just basically how they over exaggerate how good the writing is when in reality it's just average at best.

I enjoyed Danganronpa: The Anmation, before playing the game that is.
I still don't think it's really *bad*, but heavily flawed, yes.

Other than that, I remember thinking that the Corpse Party OVA is pretty good. It is not, but the gore is done beautifully, and that was mostly what I was looking for at the time.

I also tried to force myself into thinking Ergo Proxy is amazing. I admit, it was beyond fucking stupid to even try.

Well considering that SAO was one of the first anime I ever saw I guess that'd be one thing. But even though I can see the flaws much more now than I did then, it still doesn't change the fact that I loved it when I actually watched it, so my memories of it are pretty much wholly positive. So despite everything I still can't make myself give it a bad score

Looking back at it now, i realised just how many other anime there are that are way better than those two /:

These can't be called bad but are over-rated in my list:
Code Geass
I really loved it and it would probably still be good but I'm afraid if I watched it again then I might have to lower the raiting a bit.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - when I still watched anime just for action. Know I'd critizese the hell out of that plot.

Well Mirai Nikki is still as good as when I watched it, only thing that has changed is that I'm more aware that other people hate it and think that it's shit.

It's fun and one of the shows I've enjoyed the most.

Kinda a cliche answer, but Dragon Ball Z and Naruto for me.

I thought these were really great shows and probably some of the greatest things ever, only for me to find out later in my life that they focused wayyyy too much on action/cool effects rather than actual character developments. Not to mention how filler-heavy both shows were at the time.

Now the only way I can kinda enjoy anything Dragon Ball related is with the original Dragon Ball manga & anime, and the TFS abridged series.

Gundam Seed and to a lesser extent Gundam Seed Destiny

See on YTV (Aka Canada's version of Cartoon Network, at least back in the day), they had this late night block called Bionix. It was basically Toonami but with more Canadian shows as well as anime. At the time I didn't really know how bad it was since I was around 7-8 and all I really cared about were the robot fights, I didn't even pay attention to the characters or the story.

Mirai Nikki. That was my 1st anime and when I first watched it, I loved it and afterwards, kept saying, "Mirai Nikki will always have a special place in my heart". Now though, I'm disliking it more and more. I don't specifically know why, but I guess it has to with the fact that so many people are exclaiming "Mirai Nikki is a GREAT anime", whereas I see differently, and how Yuki is still a bitch in my eyes.

Tru. Very few series can come close to being as equally entertaining/batshit insane as they are clever. Although initially overhyped, I believe that AoT gets more criticized than it gets praise at this point.
