| It just evolved. I don't think he ruined it, and the older dubstep I don't think was all it was hyped up to be. I assume you're talking about older grime from the UK, like caspa, mt eden, stenchman etc. Some of the older dubsteps good still, but skrillex isn't bad by a mile. |

| Labels like Deep Medi Musik, GetDarker, and Artikal Music UK are still active in the genre. Most of the releases these recent years have had more deeper/darker sounds than before. |

One thing trip-hop, grime, and dubstep have in common is they were influenced by Dub which came earlier, though there are far more influences going on in the former. When I think of old school dubstep, it's some of these sorts... |
