Call me a weirdo but I find those characters way more "appealing"  Because they have more than just ears and tail. They are really differents than us, and I want to know how they are different, how they live, how work theirs differences and stuffs...Well I want to know them more than a girl in maid suit with cat ears.... |

I have to confess, I've got complicated relationship with spiders, so I could not find Rachnee the spider-woman attractive. But she made up for it with her charisma. Everybody else there was quite appealing. But animal ears don't have to be skin-deep. It's cute when the trait translates to personality and behavior in some way. (I'm reminded of the scene in Dog Days where the dog princess rewards successful dog warriors by petting their heads) |

Most of time, animal ears and tail in anime are just used to accentuate the cute-ness of a character and nothing else...Like an easy move to sell cute plushies. The big reason I love Monster Musume (I uses to hate Harem Ecchi) is monster bodies are used to accentuate theirs personnalities and theirs cultures and the fact they can be really dangerous, not always cute. (even It's to accentuate more the lewdness of the show...) For instances, those litte comics about the monster girls are interesting as hell for me. :) And honestly, I like spiders. They're intriguing. :p |
