That shit was fucking awwwwwwful. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwfulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. - Santa died the quickest, most anti-climatic death in history. - Took 12 episodes to reach the gate. In 10 seconds they went from determined to go through the gate...to, uh, nevermind. Defeated the entire purpose of the fucking show. - Arthur 1 hit destroys the tower and then mysteriously vanishes, also turns down Santa's offer to save him. - Loki kept wanking off to his promise of a final great tragedy...that never happened. - Robot doll thing that Aoto saved was never seen again. - Akane's dad and all of those scientists were shown like they were part of something greater than the gate...never shown after more than once. - Shakespeare and her god pen provided nothing and were never seen after that one instance. - Gay gray haired guy became the Council's bitch for literally no reason, and the two girls in his group went off to become the queens/goddesses/leaders of their own cults of light and dark or some shit. - Aoto's brother fights him, leaves, and is never seen again. - All of the knights of round who were legitimately dead were somehow all brought back to life by an unexplained asspull. - Post credits Akane was training with some character with glowing wings we've never ever seen before. - Post credits guy was kneeling in a dark cave in front of some evil looking blonde girl we've never seen before. What. In. The. Actual. Fuck. I just don't get it. The show worked up to 12 episodes to pull a 180. Explained LITERALLY NOTHING, while adding a thousand more questions at the end. Introduced characters not yet seen. And it'll probably never get a season 2 so none of this will have even mattered. 3/10 |

Divine gate was a hilariously bad show. Only reason I kept up with it was because it was so funny to see go worse and worse each episode just like comet lucifer. Glad it's over. There's a s2? Why would they bother? I'm not going to. |

Well there you have it easily the worst show this season started off kinda bad and some how managed to get worst till the very end good luck actually trying to understand what that the fuck this show was about because it seems like even the writers didn't know. only good thing i can say about this was it's impressive amount of VAs , had a interesting art style and the OP was decent but agian fuck this show 4/10 i fear the day when something like this can get a sequel. |

I got so lost after they teamed up with Arthur to find the gate or whatever... Prior to that, I was actually enjoying everything, pacing was nice too, but then it just crashed. Introduced a ton of characters that got "killed" in such a way that viewers were suppose to care about them and then tried to cram stuff that was happening with Oz, Arthur and stuff that the kids were going through all in a few episodes. I'm not kidding when I say that the only reason I came back to watch this every week was to listen to the awesome opening. |

Holy this was worse than Chaos Dragon, I can't believe it. Until now Divine Gate is one of the worst shows of 2016, it only loses to Koukaku no Pandora because we really don't need loli robotic girls fingering each other right? Nothing makes sense on this show, everything is a mess from the beginning to the ending, every single character is shallow/empty/inconsistent and there isn't a single redeeming quality in this show besides the joke which it is. There's a lot of plot holes and unexplained events: - Arthur 'somehow' knew he would be betrayed by Loki - The tower gets up out of nowhere, Arthur destroys the freaking tower with 1 hit and disappears with Loki - Aoto the edgylord wanted to find his murderer little tramp twin brother and when he find his brother he acts incoherent and tries to kill him. - Akane can't even recognize his own father, lmao - Yukari was turned into the princess of Hellsia (???) out of nowhere - Hikari also was turned into the princess of Celestia out of nowhere - Santa was somehow powerful, got 1 hitted by Arthur and his 'help' was denied. - Undine the cannon fodder queen somehow survived - Where's the rest of the beast people? - The colors sucks, rainbows everywhere - The CG was worse than the CGs made for consoles from 18 years ago - The scenario most of time is empty to non-existentl - All the knights of round died to the scandinavian gods and somehow got resurrected in the last episode, how the fuck they did it? - Who the hell is Ginji? I forgot because he was one of the 3rd class characters of this show - Why they tried to be deep? - There is no plot at all besides: ''let's look for the gate'' and ''oh we know where the gate is but it's dangerous!'' - Wtf I just watched? I can't wait for another season so I can laugh my ass out of it like I did with this one. |

i wonder why the anime is getting too much hate. personally, i enjoyed it a lot. it had a lot of deep thought to it and a great concept. i agree with you that some stuff didn't make sense especially in the last episode but it doesn't make the anime bad. with that last episode, though, i expect a second season for it. |

Ugh, it's finally over. This anime had so much potential but I feel like they completely, absolutely botched it, What even was the plot? Everything was pointless. They went to the divine gate and did absolutely nothing! They whined half the time in the anime. The only thing I liked was the OP. Fullstop. Nothing else. Sure the divine Gate interested me but I wasn't excited by it in any way. I probably watched this just for the opening... |

Maybe it makes sense for someone who played the game (or maybe not, you seemed to have played it and it doesnt seem to make sense even for you), but for most of us, it didnt. Actually, the discussion about conscious and unconscious can be an interesting one, but it seems to me that the producers trapped themselves in a subject they dont really fully understand but still used it. The idea with Aoto and the boy, i thought that was an interesting one since Aoto is rather an introvert but the kid is rather an extrovert representing the actual feelings of Aoto. Something like a double-personality thing...............i cant explain it well. But the boy was just the "key" for the gate. That alone raises to me more unwanted questions and is even more disapointing as a conclusion than Aoto having more like a double-personality and fighting it as one conclusion. Some wish for Season 2.................but i dont think this would be a solution. Since i never saw Evangelion, i cant compare it, but it seems to me that the producers didnt fully understand what they were doing and have done it just for the sake of it, therefore i dont believe that they could answer anything about S1 in S2. As they have done here, they would probably do everything worse with more convenience that doesnt make sense. |

Was honestly trying to make sense of the pieces, rereading subs connecting them. This ep had more developed thoughts & ideas, each character's motives, better than the angst poetry in earliest episodes. BUT none of these quite connect. Ok, Aoto's giving up everything, then choose what he'll do rather than wish, and Midori about running not as god, relate to their backstories, good. Aurthur being strong cuz he has something dear (to protect?), but Aoto says its his alter ego. ??? So Aurthur true self/heart is in whiteland (plus that cross which he rejected), his puppet alter ego rules the tower... What was Santa trying? He ded? Aurthur his childhood best friend, didn't even care. I get Loki wanted a counciless world by remake. And the 3 kids foiled his plan by not entering the Gate. Wasn't clear, but yes kids win, Loki lost. Ginji, dog of Council & ruler of earth(?), explained the Gate remake thing. And Council is like we protect the Matrix so everyone keeps an illusion of order. He sounds convincing but that world sucks anyways. Random knights revived at last ep, no one cares, but the father & Dorothy stay ded to keep plot. They so hinting at S2, new characters appear. I guess intended audience was the gamers who know the world/plot. OP was awesome, some osts nice. Never boring even though senselessness piled up. Fight animation & character designs were enjoyable. For me it can't be worse than ShoujoMezasu which is literally wasteland, but rating in relation to Pandora, chaos dragon, pso2 etc. Just realized how 'good' pso2 is as a game adaptation. |

As they have done here, they would probably do everything worse with more convenience that doesnt make sense. here's the bad news the game itself is ONLY available in Japan. there are some players who had downloaded it via Google JP, others probably emulated the game. it's gonna be really hard to find the answer, DG wiki doesn't even had the answers to it aswell. As far as i understand, thats a card-like game, right?. So.............i suppose there isnt any story at all? here's how the game looks like So, basically a card-like game with rpg elements? Thats what i get from it. Since i only understand a dozen words japanese, i dont really understand more. But if thats it, there doesnt seem to be a big story in it. If thats it, then the worse it the Anime. |

And because of that, Divine Gate gets a pass? Or did i understood you wrong? Besides whats that Divine Gate X Kekkai Sensen thing about? nope I'm defending the game NOT the Anime.the game has events and including character quest. it's impossible for an anime adaptation to have all the story of each character, try counting how many they are. Divine x Kekkai Sensen is a collaboration events held in game. here's a link of the list of Collaborators. Divine Gate and its Collaborators I was a bit confused since (as far as i saw) nobody else mentioned the game besides you. So, there is actually no reason to defend the game at all, is there? Since the Anime still has to make sense on its own, correct? There are plenty of Anime based on Games which did a good job even to newcomers, Divine Gate didnt do that. Ok, collaboration. I think i get it now. Cool. at first I was defending but the fact is from what I see I guess noone played it. when it's confusing then it really is. The first few episodes were good, then it just went downhill from there. They're the most fickle-minded kids I've seen. They had a goal, just when they're so close to obtaining it, "Nevermind, I change my mind. I don't want to go through the Divine Gate" crap! Very bad!!! I usually drop these anime after 3 episodes, but in hopes that something interesting might happen, I stuck around. Horrible Mistake! 3/10 |

What the hell? They turned their back on godhood because of the same lame speech that is said in every Shounen ever? What was even the point of the events so far? Hell, what was the point of the Knights of Round getting killed off, only to be magically revived somehow? And how the hell did the guy just simply walk into where the 3 MCs were when it took so long for them to get there, and then just left nonchalantly like he hasn't a care in the world and completely trusts them? How did the kids who apparently broke rules of the Council get away with everything and are apparently living peacefully? Who was that woman at the end - were we supposed to know? Wow, just wow. This was by far the hardest anime to finish, and although I'm lenient in most of my scoring, this time I won't be. The first episode was good despite being pretentious, then it just... went bad. Final episode: 2/5 Series overall: 3/10, mostly for the great art and catchy opening. And Santa. Waiting patiently for a second season so I can see whether it's possible to make this good. |

I... survived.... the battle scene in first half looks cool, Santa is OP but he still died... too bad the second half is just wtf... Oz Janai, Katsura da! thanks to Oz, those scumbag gods can't use their drivers... - those 3 first like "ok let's go beyond the gate" - wild Ginji appears! - Ginji uses "Gate belongs to the council!" - those 3 don't want to go beyond the gate - at last, the annoying kid disappear... overall, I will give this anime 3/10 thanks to the art and OP-ED... will this anime get another season?? no, please no |

My final thoughts. I'm glad it didn't go down the "shounens should suck ass and lose to women" rabbit hole that every other title is doing. But, all the same, it still feels that way. I guess it's because I've been watching Marvel's Avengers; I expected too much. I guess an "unwritten rule" should be make whenever the animu industry wants to make something like a Marvel cartoon. The main lesson is to not kick shounen ass and make them look weak for most of the show. |

That was disappointing. very disappointing. It was already worse in its story telling and the ending which was supposed to sum things up made it even more confusing to make any sense of its plot. :( With the same studio I (highly) doubt the second season would be any good than this; if there is going to be a second season that is. 4/10 |

Hmmm... Was I the only one to whom the first part of the anime looked really promising and the latter part became more of meh? And who was the girl in the end scene? Damn most of the character designs are so similar xD |

I...just don't understand this anime. On the one hand, I loved some of the Knights, Aoto, and Akane as well as Ginji but I literally do not understand this plot, purpose or anything really. Good art but overall I have to drop this anime down to a 2 out of 10. |

Am I a fool for watching it till the end, thinking I would eventually figure out what was going on this anime ? Visually was pretty pleasing but the actual story was um..... yeh not worth watching. |
