Does "composer" refer to the series composer or the theme composer? Also, does this mean we can't have seen any anime with said director/composer/studio, or that we just aren't familiar with them?

I'm pretty show it's the show composer and not the theme song act.

I figured as much since "director" was paired with it. I just wanted to confirm.

@SheyCroix might be the only one who can answer the second question.

The question was asked and answered earlier. For you to "not know" them you must not have seen anything by them. The idea is that you are unfamiliar with their style rather than simply not knowing about their existence.

Your list is private so I don't know what you have watched, but I recommend you The Tatami Galaxy for the first one and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei for the second.

Curious, if it's a show that is stuck in my watching/on hold for awhile now, may I complete it with the intention of a candidate for my challenge? Or it MUST be an anime with a START AND END in 2016 watch time?

Start something new. I think it's still fine if it's something you've partly watched IF you watch the episodes you've seen again. So you'll end up watching every episode in 2016 anyway.

Yeah you're right.
But then again... the point here is get to know new anime. So personally, at least in line with my standards, I wouldn't do it... But is up to you ofc

You have that item from the Bonus ones that you can use to fill it up:
» Finish an on-hold or dropped anime
An anime dropped/put on-hold previously, not one dropped/put on-hold this year.

Oh please, chances are that each question asked on this page, as well as the previous couple of pages, has already been asked and answered at least ten times since this challenge has started. And who would actually search through about 1k posts?? The fact is: since so many people keep asking and asking, it only means that next to the post with the challenge criteria, there should have been another post with slightly more detailed explanations regarding what those criteria refer to. Some people might realise it no problem, but others obviously do not. And it's pointless to come with lines such as 'this has already been asked and answered' in this situation; in others, it's perfectly acceptable, but under these circumstances, it's not helpful at all.

Maybe you could watch Spirited Away? It's a great anime movie, and it got many awards, including an Oscar.
I'm going to watch Higashi no Eden, it got an Animation Kobe TV Award. There are another Animation Kobe winners here.

He said "@SheyCroix might be the only one who can answer the second question." and I wanted to tell him that Shey actually did already answer the question previously. For something this simple they should just add it into the sign up sheet like this:

» Watch an anime by a director/composer/studio you don't know
i.e. You haven't seen anything from them before

"Know" can mean a lot of things so this would help. "Watch an original anime" sounds subjective and caused some confusion last year but it seems to be fine this year. It could still be helpful to mention that it refers to anime that aren't adapted from another source.

For the children requirement, I'm seeing that the consensus is that the whole main cast has to be children, not just part of the cast, correct? Because I was thinking about using Welcome to the Space Show, which has a main cast of just children (oldest is 12) and an alien dog. I'm just wondering if that would fit the criteria.

I might have just not caught it on your list, but it seems you haven't watched or read Kuroko No basket and you seem to love Haikyuu. I think KnB would be something you would enjoy alot.

Edit: Oh you're about 100 chapters through the manga. You could start in the second season if you wanted. It picks up around there. It's great.

Watch an anime with a main cast mainly of one gender - mostly females
Watch an anime with a non-human main character - the cat
Watch an anime adapted from a manga with a score of 8.0 or higher - manga score is 8.20

Wouldn't the anime need to have a score of 8.0 or higher?
(It can actually be read both ways...)

The Anime that is based on a Manga, needs a score higher than 8 as Josine pointed out.

No, the manga is the one that has to be over 8. Just look at SheyCroix challenge list
» Watch an anime adapted from a manga with a score of 8.0 or higher : (Manga had 8.83 on Jan. 08) Mushishi Zoku Shou

That example doesn't work because both the Anime and Manga have an 8.0+ score. So what is happening here is that the challenge item syntax is confusing enough for all of us, since we interpret that in different ways.

Looking at SheyCroix challenge list realized the answer...
