Wtf..
The dialog is way too fast (also pointless), scenes often stretch out to 15 whole minutes, nothing happens for an entire episode and Araragi just beat up a 10 year old? WTF!!?
What exactly is going on? will this series get more enjoyable and is the whole of monogatari series like this?
I really want to like this show but I don't understand..
Edit: Im not even shitposting, just tell me how do I enjoy the series, there is obviously something I'm missing and this is only the first of many shows in the series..

Mod Edit: Modified title for clarity and/or easier searching.

watch Tatami galaxy first, then come back for Bakemonogatari later. (to get use to fast text)

OR use the magical pause button.

pause the dialogue. give more atnetion to any dialogue and text on it. i already clear about the concept just in 2 episode.

Then don't watch it OP. I felt the exact same way as you the first time I tried to watch it, as well as the second attempt. Just no...

It's not for you. It doesn't get different, if you don't like it now, you won't like it later.

The dialogue is the enjoyable part of the show. Bakemonogatari is not for you.

That is Nisioisin style, I think it gets better but if you dont like long-stretched dialog you should drop it.

Cheers to that I never understood Bakemonogatari. And I finished it last week.

When I watched it 6 years ago, I couldn't get past the first episode because of SHAFT's horrible "art style". Then I saw this and decided to finish the whole show and now it's one of my favorites.

If you don't like a lot of dialogue, you won't like Monogatari.

In conjunction, don't get near Tatami Galaxy, OP

When I started watching the series I nearly dropped it, but I didn't and now is my absolute favorite.

If you can't stand the amount of dialogue in the series, I think that is better for you if you don't continue with it.

Bakemonogatari is not just a show, it is a game. Press the pause button right when bullet fast text arrives. If you mess up you must marry hachikuji.

It's like that all the way through. I got used to the fast-paced dialogue by around the 6th or so episode. But the vast majority of the episodes are all centred around just talking, with little action. If you don't like it after watching a few episodes, you probably won't like the rest of the series either because it doesn't really change throughout.

It's funny because the Monogatari series are some of my favourite, yet they're also some of the ones I'd be least likely to recommend to other people looking for new shows to watch.
It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether!

Monogatari is all about the dialogue so if you don't like it now just drop it.

The dialogue is indeed fast but not pointless. Keep a finger ready on the pause button always and if it still doesn't grab you, well don't drop it or I'll haunt you every night. /人 ◕ ‿‿ ◕ 人\

The dialogue IS the attraction. The little bits of text that come on screen for like a split-second really are almost pointless, but they usually just add character thoughts to specific dialogue.

Also, yes, he really did just beat up Mayoi Hachikuji. But we like to think it wasn't him.

Except Tatami galaxy's monologues are faster paced than bakemonogatari

Bakemonogatari seems to be another "love it or hate it" kinda thing. If you don't like it, don't watch it I guess, because it's gonna be like that throughout.

I personally didn't like the text flashes on the screen. Seems like a poor attempt at adapting the original Light Novels. The fast talking seems to support this, like they're attempting to cram so much into only a single episode, but the dialogue and character interactions can be pretty entertaining at times if nothing else, so that's nice.

yee there was some seriously weird shit going on back in bake-.. i still dont get how bakemonogatari sold so much
just dont overthink it p=

>What exactly is going on?
exactly what it looks like

yes; first season was the worst imo, but it introduces all characters, and you need it to understand the later ones
but all the series is dialogue heavy

>I really want to like this show but I don't understand..
you will until the end

>Edit: Im not even shitposting, just tell me how do I enjoy the series, there is obviously something I'm missing and this is only the first of many shows in the series..
yeeeeeeee just keep going, it gets better as you get more familiar with the universe and characters
and i suggest speeding up the more pointless parts

Don't watch it or watch it slowly, sometimes pause to read what those color things between scenes have written on or try to watch any animes on 1.25 speed ;)

MAL definition of bait - sluttery.

Yeah, the whole show is like that.

I don't mind it when an anime is dialogue-driven (some of my favorite shows are like that), but the way this show is directed kind of kills the pacing, as well as the whole show for me.

If you still want to give Monogatari a chance but dislike the pacing of the anime, some of the light novels are translated on Baka-Tsuki, so I recommend checking them out there if you want.
