They both are great for certain reasons.

Online friends can be great for the anonymous factor. Here's a good chance they will never meet in person, so you can tell them whatever and act like yourself more easily (in some cases).

Real life friends are a lot closer in the perspective that they will affect your life a lot more. When it comes down to it, online friends are only there if you're on a computer. Real life bros are obviously overall better, but one might say they're harder to get.

It's best to have both.

I don't have a preference. I spend a considerable amount of time both on the Internet and offline, so it doesn't really matter that much to me. I mainly concern myself with individual people. I have online friends that I value more than offline friends, and vice versa.

If I had to choose I'd probably go with "real life" friends, because it might give me more options down the road, and they can do me favours that online friends can't.

I don't have either. I have a boyfriend now which is nice, but I still feel incredibly lonely. By and Large, I do not connect with or understand other people.

Me and Aubrey Graham have a strong unbreakable platonic friendship and we haven't even met...yet.

I connect to him and relate to him more than anyone else, i feel blessed.

Both. I love my real life friends we do everything together, however..

I can relate better to my online friends. My real life friends tend to brush off my artistic side as childish...they don't understand why on some Saturdays I'd rather stay home and paint or play video games than go to some party...

Online -_- real life friends are more likely to throw their problems at you and you can't just say "ok I saw the message but I'll reply later cause this thing I'm doing is more interesting"

But some of my friends are both...

The problem with internet friends more than anything else is that there's always the possibility that someone you are friends with can disappear without a trace and you'd have no way to find out what happened to them or how to find them.

As such there's always a sense of distance between online friends because the relationship is much more vulnerable.

I don't see any of them as being better than the other. It doesn't much matter whether someone is an in real life friend or an online friend.

Like, people whom I consider my friends, are my friends. Online, offline, or not.

I mean, It depends on the specific, individual, friend, themselves.

Well, I only have one real life friend, while I have a few online friends.

But the real life friend can come over to my house, where my online ones can't, so there's that.

Ive been closer to online friends. I think id like to be friends with them in person more though. People ive only met in person we never got to talk enough on deep enough stuff to connect much.

Both are great, but I would value RL friends more. They are there for you when you are going through hard times, and you spend more time with them. Also talking in person is better than typing texts to one another.

Online friends also have their values, for example it's good to have a trusted online friend you can share your problems with and joke together, and in some cases you have more fun with online friends than with RL ones.

Real life ones, any day of the week.

Not to say that online friends cant be something legit, of course. A best case scenario online friendship will always outclass a worst case scenario real life friendship.

I've pondered this issue many times in the past and though i value the friendship of anyone willing to be friends with me. ive noticed that online friends tend to drift apart much easier. i suppose the same could be said for offline friends too. but its just in my experience. i was somewhat forced to "grow up" and it became to difficult to spend time with both friends. Honestly i miss them. but its been years
