i rarely read manga so this was my first experience being on the "fan" side of a manga-to-novel adaptation. i was shocked and so excited when i heard there was going to be a OPM anime, and now i can barely believe its here. and ive realized i cant even be objective about it, lol, im just glad its being animated. as long as they keep faithful to the manga (which they clearly are), this show can do no wrong by me. its not going to beat murata's art, but i dont need it to.

the dream fight sequence was so amazing that i stopped being amazed by the animation and started worrying about the rest of the season's budget, lol. but it was seriously top notch.

if you werent amused by the humour in this episode, you wont find much in the rest of the season. but the plot and scope gets better and better.

Hit me like the One Punch Man 6/5. Would get punched again.

I loved everything about this, but most of all I loved how over-the-top it was during the animations (so TRIGGER-like <3) and the sound design and everything. Pure gold, right there.

Hardly ever is the first episode this good. Hope it keeps up the greatness.

Also is that first enemy in this episode is voiced by the same guy who voiced Ceasar on One Piece and Mayuri on Bleach? Because it sounded kind of similar.

AFAIK it's the VA of Freeza too.

His power is OVER 9000!!

Btw had a laugh at the bluish Picolo with Freeza's voice.

It was fun but it makes me wonder how the author is going to go about it. It's hard to make it interesting when the guy finishes everyone with One Punch and if he ever fails to do so then he wouldn't exactly be One Punch Man then would he? So he can't have him not doing so.
Btw if so many crazy monsters appear that all the heroes defeating them makes no much difference then how does that world even manage to have cities and civilization?

rewatched with new subs

nice the OP, with random monsters getting one-punched (and there was even a cutey star thing)
the ending sounds so strange if compared to the genre, but it's nice too wit how relaxing it is

i first thought Gainax made this instead of Madhouse, the animation is very similar (the director once worked in TTGL so maybe that's the reason)
Saitama's voice is cooler than how i imagine though xD Not saying his voice isnt good
so Genos is going to appear in ep2 eh?

What fun this anime, the protagonist made me die laughing. A good first episode and a good job of Madhouse, drawings and animations discrete overall. Look promising this series, I look forward to following the next episodes.

Madhouse delivers yet another SAKUGA anime. 10/10 episode easily thanks to the mind blowing animation,
electric soundtrack and faithfulness to the source material.
One can only hope they didn't blow their budget making this episode.

First of all, I didn't read the manga.

That first episode was pretty funny, but not too interesting on enjoyment.
So the plot is about an OP character who wants a hard villain to fight with him so he can't knock him off with one punch? Will be nice, but get boring soon if overdone about 200+ times.
Saitama looks very comical.
I would like a few slice-of-life moments to see how he struggles with his life.
More twists, variety of settings and lengthy fight scenes might be more entertaining, also.
The villains are greatly designed, no questions. Especially the titan-like one.
Good Madhouse quality animation as usual.
The ending theme is good, the opening would have been done better in recording quality however.
Overall, it is good, but not very great. Would like to see what happens next in the 2nd episode.

I absolutely love the manga, but the first episode of the anime was way too shallow. It felt like a Michael Bay movie. All flash no substance.

I bet the people who voted highly also loved the Transformers movies.

7/10

This first episode is only the first arc which is only an introduction to Saitama. Of course him beating every enemy with one punch would get boring, there are many more factors to make it an interesting and enjoyable experience. The actualy STORY content will start on the next episode with the introduction of Genos, don't leave this wild ride just yet!

I re-read the first volume this morning and was reminded how random the beginning is. Thankfully after the introduction of Genos next week things do improve.

But seriously this is better than I could have ever hoped. The art is spot-on (Murata Yusuke LOVE) with fitting animation and epic music. And Piccolo having Freeza's voice was hilarious lol. This will be a fun ride!

A good way to start a good series! What an action-packed episode!
A typical Hero-vs-Villain cliche, but this one's got a lot to tell. Heroes wear costumes, of course, but judging on what Saitama wears, you can easily guess that there's nothing he can be serious about. but he's strong. Saitama is already badass even before he got strong.

I LOLed on that giant after being told to smash the enemy in his shoulder. Too late too say, "wrong hands" though! I just can't it get out of my mind. LOL

At some point, when that supergiant is about to punch the ground, the animation reminded me of Pain in Naruto. LOL

Action and Comedy blends together. much wow. Good art and animation. Pumped-up OST. I think I will enjoy the rest.

Don't really like this first episode. drawing during the battle wast really good I think. Looks so similar to Naruto VS Pain.

Actually, I like the manga more but wait for the next episode and hope for more humor when Genos is with him.
Maybe when I will see the beautiful bee-woman, I will enjoy the show more than this first.

6/10 for now.

Madhouse have almost never delivered a good adaptation. The only good adaptation they did that came to my mind is Aoi Bungaku Series. Otherwise, everything they produced were pure disappointment.

I've always thought this manga would be absolutely amazing in anime form, and I wasn't wrong :D
Sadly it'll be only 12 episodes, but there's no way that this won't be great, so I'm happy. ♡
About the episode: I disliked the ending song. I'll have to get used to the colors, they seem a little.. dull? And it was more emotional than what I remembered, but I guess that's the power of adaptations.
